GenderArabic nouns have gender. They can be masculine and feminine.

What is the difference between these two words?
This – االشارة اسماء This is a pen. This is a ruler.
But, in Arabic we differentiate between masculine and feminine……
This a pen. This a ruler.
In Arabic we say:
This – االشارة اسماءPen is a masculine noun.Ruler is a feminine noun.
هذا هذه
So in Arabic we have two words that correspond to the English “this”:
masculine feminine
Pen is a masculine noun.Ruler is a feminine noun.
هذه .مسطرة
So in Arabic we would say:
هذا .قلم
This – االشارة اسماء
Match the following.

My - ي
Brother + MY = My Brother
= ي + أخ يأخ
Mum + MY = My mum.
= ي + أم يأم
I - أناArabic has no ‘copula’ verb.

Or you can say “my name is”:
ياسم أنا.أحمد
We - نحنArabic has no ‘copula’ verb.
نحن,لة .We are (a) family.عائ
Our - نا
God + Our = Our God.
= نا + رب ال ناربله
Basic ownershipTo say that a pen belongs to a certain person you construct the following phrase..
هذا هذه
عائشة قلم . مسطرة.عائشة
Questions – اسئلةThe first question structure we can form is:
What is this?
The word what is: م This word is used to ask about ا
animals or things.

In reality if you are inquiring about what something is you would not know the gender.
People will respond correctly.
