Volume 114 April 2013President’s Message
Dear MSC Members;
Hard to believe, we are now into spring and the ski season is coming to an end. With the end of the ski season upon us it is a reminder that our Lodge Spring Cleanup Weekend is coming up. Check with Michelle Nightengale to sign up. If you have not done this in a while (or ever), it is a good time to join in. It is a day of cleaning and 2 days of free lodging, food and lots of camaraderie. This month is our Election Month for Board Positions for the 2013-2014 year. Elected board positions are: President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and one Trustee Position. All of these positions are available to club members for nomination. If you have an interest, contact Randy Cook or Roy Nightengale of the Election Committee. Concerning the Pinecrest Camping Trip, there are two camping spots left. These spots will be returned to the campsite office on May 1, 2013 if I do not have any takers/commitments for them; so if you are planning on going and just have not had time to commit, you need to do it soon. Both spots are in on Friday the 31st of May and out on Monday, June 2nd. Let me know. Look inside the newsletter for more events coming up. Remember we are a club for all seasons, so there are activities planned all summer and into the fall for you to enjoy.
Sincerely,
Debra CloverPresident

LODGE NEWS
Spring is here and it is time for the Spring Lodge Work Weekend. Please contact me to sign up for this fun event. The date is April 26-28, 2013. There is a limit of 20 spaces so please sign up to secure your spot at the Work Weekend. FYI, the club provides meals for Saturday, breakfast, lunch and dinner as well on Sunday, breakfast and leftovers for lunch. You also earn a voucher for one night stay at the lodge, value is $14.00. Please remember to turn lights off when leaving the Lodge. It has been brought to my attention that lights have been left on all day while guests and members are out skiing. We all need to do our part in keeping the Lodge clean, be sure to do your part when staying at the Lodge. Please bring to my attention any issues at the Lodge. Home Phone 209-571-8125 or Email [email protected]
Winter Season keys will be due back to me by MAY 10, 2013. Be sure to get your key turned in or upgrade to the year key. THERE IS A FINE PER DAY FOR LATE KEYS!

(see Michelle Nightengale's flyer), Rafting/BBQ & Wine in August, Spicer Reservoir Camping in

Attention!I am now accepting the standard BAC ski trip
reservation form(your $200 check payable to BAC) for the2014 Far West Ski Week at Beaver Creek
The trip will be Jan 25 through Feb 1, 2014. Lodging is presently being chosen by our leaders and I need a select base of early MSC signups to ensure my priority for both BAC and our club choice of lodging. I will be presenting my numbers at the BAC meeting March 11 when BAC starts accepting deposits for the trip.
Note: the deposit is fully refundable until July after lodging and travel details are available.
As Vail is nearby, I expect that a Vail ski day or more will be available for the Vail Resort lovers among us. Those with season passes to Heavenly and Northstar may also be able include Beaver Creek and Vail.
Our trip to Aspen/Snowmass was a great trip with both large and small groups of our club members skiing together at Aspen, Aspen Highlands, and Snowmass. Also we had a party somewhere each evening, which included the FWSA Farewell Dinner party, BAC dinner party, MSC dinner party in my condo (seating for almost everybody), and the Welcome party (a Super Bowl party) which included dinner for most of us. Make your reservation NOW because 2014 is not that far off!

Modesto Ski Club Water Ski Weekend
July 26 – 28, 2013
Lake Don Pedro – Blue Oaks Campground The water ski weekend has been reserved for July 26-28, 2013 at the Blue Oaks Campground this year at Lake Don Pedro. This is our 3rd year that we have been at this location. Please contact me to reserve a campsite for your trailer or RV. I have pre-paid for the spots. We have 8 sites with hook-ups in the A area. The amount for each site is $80.00 for the weekend. The amount is the same as last year. FYI each site can have up to 8 people so tent campers join in with some-one who has an RV and share the space.
General note for members that want to just come up for the day. Be sure to contact me so I know you are coming and we will set a specific time for you to arrive. Depending on how low the water level is will determine if we are able to ski from the camping area or another area on the lake. This is critical so we know that you are coming and can let you know where we will be setting up for the day with boats and jet skis. Cell service is not always an option in some of the lower levels so let me know ahead of time.
We will have a group pot luck on Saturday night. Please let me know what you would like to bring to share for the Pot Luck. Each person will need to bring a main meat item to BBQ. I will have flyers at our next general meeting. Contact me to sign up and mail your payment for reserving a site to me personally as I have paid with my CC for all the campsites. Make check payable to Michelle Nightengale.
Here is my email and home phone contact to let me know if you are wanting to sign up for this event.
