March DemonstratorPeter G. Buchan gave us a livelyand informative lesson on how heachieves his Chopstick Drip Methodto make his unique and beautiful art. He refers to his art as a hybrid formof abstract expressionism. He usesoil based acrylic paints and likes toleave the lids off so the paintthickens and allows him somesemblance of control. Gravity is hisfriend and he enjoys the challengeof turning what others consider amistake in to a beautiful work of art.

TATER DAY
On Saturday, March 12th Traffic Way celebrated
the coming of St. Patrick's Day with a street
celebration called TATER DAY. The sidewalk was
filled with lots of strollers who came into the
gallery and voted on their favorite peoples choice
award in our current show. There were five food
vendor carts scattered on the two block area.
Foods were made with potato products and
strollers voted on their favorite food!
Next door to the gallery at the wine shop, a
boutique was set up together with a pocket toss
game. Next to the Carlton in the empty lot, tables
and chairs were set up for children's crafts.
Across the street at 805 were tables and chairs
for people to stop and eat. Outdoor entertainment
was everywhere as were the green balloons!
Kay Hirons and Eileen Zachary manned the
gallery and had a great time talking with all the
Irish (and wanna be Irish) who visited. Next year,
April Meeting
Jeanne Provenson will be giving ademonstration on her techniques ofpainting water with watercolor paintson April 11th at the Atascadero ArtAssociation Gallery. This will includehow to create reflection on water andcreate movement.
if someone wants to work the gallery one of our
members could set up a table in front with Irish
arts and crafts items for sale. Anyone interested?
Green balloons included!!!

I have lived in L.A., Denmark,Hawaii, Santa Cruz, Portland, Or, and nowMorro Bay is my home.I have been working as a professionalartist since 1984, when I started mycompany, Provenson Design.I prefer watercolors because they are soportable and I like the transparency. I alsolike working with acrylics and oils becauseyou can make changes throughout thepainting process where necessary.I have designed three dimensionalpackaging and painted murals too. Myfreelance clients include, NBC, CBS, MCARecords, and many other art departments.I lean toward realism, probably because Ifind so much joy int the beauty of theworld around me that I feel I want toshare my vision with others in a tangibleway.
