April, 2016 Dear Parents, Happy Spring!! We have a very busy quarter ahead of us. You have received information about State Fair and hopefully you’ve marked your calendars for this event (May 18). With the warmer weather approaching, I realize that students are involved in several other activities and schedules can be very hectic. With that said, remember homework should be completed on time and students should be well prepared for tests. Writing •Reading Reflections •Opinion Writing •Book Commercial Script Spelling •Unit 23: silent letters spelled with gn, kn, mn, mb •Midwest States •Unit 24: Suffixes –ed, -ing, plurals and verb forms •Unit25: Suffixes –tion, -ssion, -sion, -ion Math 9 ( Common Core Standards: 4.NF.C.5, 4.NF.C.6, 4.NF.C.7, 4.MD.A.2) Unit 6 Express a fraction with denominator 10 as an equivalent fraction with denominator 100 Use decimal notation for fractions with denominators 10 or 100 Compare two decimals to hundredths by reasoning about their size Solve problems involving measurement and conversion of measurements from a larger unit to a smaller unit. Reading Unit 4 “Imaginative Adventures” This unit will challenge students to examine how one’s character is shaped when confronted with the unexpected or go through incredible circumstances. One’s character is revealed by the way an individual reacts when faced with the unexpected or unusual circumstances and their ability to face and resolve difficulties with resourcefulness.
