A Message from Your New District Secretary

Hi I-I Key Club, My name is Jennifer Kuo! I am a junior at Sycamore and your 2015-2016 District Secretary. This year I want to reach out to all clubs and create an organized, constantly-updated master directory for easy access for contact information. Other than Key Club, I love to dance as well and I am on my school's dance team. Also, I am a huge bookworm so I'd love to talk to you about anything Key Club or about books to read! Feel free to contact me at [email protected]. Yours in service, Jennifer Kuo District Secretary

2015-2016 Executive Board A Message from Your New District Treasurer

Hi Illinois-Eastern Iowa District Key Clubbers! Welcome to the new 2015-2016 year! My name is Jennifer Zhuo and I will be serving on the District Board as your District treasurer this year. I am thrilled to have the chance to work with all of you this year! I’d like to share a few things about myself with all of you, so you can get to know me better. I love volunteering, dancing, and binge watching countless American and Asian TV shows. I joined Key Club my freshman year of high school and was elected Lieutenant Governor of Division 1 during my freshman year. Now to advertise: Start thinking about dues! December 1st does seem very far away, but if you forget about it, there is a chance of falling behind. Also, I highly encourage all clubs to send in your dues by the November 1st Early Bird Deadline. By doing this, you’ll earn the famous Early Bird Patch, which of course we all want. I’m really excited for this year! I’m really looking forward to working with all of you this year and making it the best it can be! Feel free to contact me at [email protected] or at (312)-929-6107. Yours in Service, Jennifer Zhuo District Treasurer

Message from the International Trustee

Hello Illinois-Eastern Iowa District! I want to encourage you to reach out to me if you need anything at all from the International level. During the beginning of my term, I completed calls with more than 30 different board members from the Bahamas, New York, and Illinois-Eastern Iowa districts. I’d like to implement a similar calling system again, so please email me if you’re interested in setting up a call. During these calls, we can talk about your ideas for Key Club, different aspects of the International Board, or ways in which you can better serve the community in your officer position. I think the most important responsibility I have as an International Trustee is to be available to the members that I represent, so please take me up on this offer. On the International level, we have a lot coming up. Eliminate Week is right around the corner, the Governors and Administrators Training Conference is this weekend, and International Convention 2015 will be here before you know it. Have a wonderful service-filled month! Yours in service, Shane Meyers International Trustee Key Club International

I did not hesitate to go to my first meeting when it was first announced on the announcements at my school. I am devoted to helping others and making a positive difference in our society. I have and always will since I have a passion to help others. One hobby I enjoy would be riding my bike. Nature brings me a sense of peace and keeps me grounded and down to earth. I hope to strengthen Key Club and prompt it more at my school because it is brand new and I hope to start more volunteering events that clubs can do on their own but together as well! Myiah Davis, Lieutenant Governor, Division 18/19

Hello! I am Myiah Davis. Currently I am a junior at Galesburg High School in Galesburg, Illinois. I have been in Key Club for three years, and last year I served as my club president. One of my favorite service projects is volunteering at the Knox Prairie Community Kitchen in my hometown because it allows me to serve others and get to know others in my community. When I am not doing homework or volunteering, I spend my time reading, doing DIY projects, and spending time with my friends and family. I have many goals for the upcoming year, which include an increase in the division percentages and to start a new club. I also hope to make the clubs in my division the best that they could possibly be by effectively communicating and working with them. I am very excited for the upcoming year, and cannot wait to work with everyone! [email protected]

Charles Schneider, Lieutenant Governor, Division 20 West

I have loved helping others ever since I was a little kid. While growing up, I remember doing everything I could to help. I live in Peoria Heights, Illinois. I am currently a freshman in high school. My biggest hobby is probably golfing. When I am not volunteering or doing homework for school, I can usually be found on one of three golf courses! My biggest goal for this year is trying to get all my clubs somewhat connected with one another. I am in the process of planning a division-wide function. I hope to bring the schools together to serve! [email protected]

Luke Lockart, Lieutenant Governor, Division 20 East Hey Key Clubbers! I am Luke Lockart, the Division 20 East Lieutenant Governor. I am so honored to be a part of such a wonderful group of leaders! You all should be proud! In my free time, I enjoy writing music and volunteering with anything in my school, my church, and around my community. My goal for this year is to gain members and reach out to all middle school students about how great of an organization Key Club is. If they are educated on Key Club before high school, they will be more willing to join and volunteer. So in your community, reach out to middle school students and spread the word! I hope everyone has a successful year ahead! [email protected] Lauren Dvorak, Lieutenant Governor, Division 21 My name is Lauren Dvorak and I am a junior at Plainfield North High School. I am very active in sports at my school: playing varsity tennis, helping with sports medicine, running hurdles on the track team, and being the sports section editor of yearbook. This year, my goal as Lieutenant Governor is to educate clubs about the Kiwanis family and strengthen relationships in the K-family. I want Key Club members in Division 21 to become acquainted with people outside of their home club in hopes of creating more inter-club service projects. [email protected]

2015-2016 District Board

Daniel Glecier, Lieutenant Governor, Division 23 I live in Tinley Park and I am a junior at Lincoln-Way North High School. I have three sisters and one brother. My two older sisters, Amber and Ashleigh Glecier were also Lieutenant Governors when they were in high school as well. My favorite hobby is hanging out with friends because I am a very talkative person and I like to see what is going on with everybody. My goal for the year is to retire with my division in good standing because it tells me that I did a good a job and leaving the incoming Lieutenant Governor in easy hands. [email protected] Caitlin Pouk, Lieutenant Governor, Division 24 Hello my name is Caitlin Pouk, and I am a junior at Woodland High School. I’m a sophomore at Murphysboro High School in southern Illinois. I love Key Club and I love seeing kids my age have an actual desire to serve others. I love seeing my key clubbers give up selfishness for selflessness, and do it purely for the betterment of others. I’m beyond happy that I can use my position to help other teens who have these qualities. Apart from Key Club I play Football and track, and I’m the leader of my school’s FCA club. My favorite things would have to be bowties and cats (oh and food of course) and I can’t wait to have lots of fun and service happen this Key Club year. [email protected]

The Eliminate Project APRIL/MAY IOLIAN

The Eliminate Project As of April 19th, Key Club International has raised US$3,668,422.40 for The Eliminate Project. These fundraising numbers once again translated into something amazing this past week when Mauritania was declared MNT-free by the World Health Organization! This means that we have eliminated MNT from 36 countries. Let's keep on pushing until the end of the campaign!

Two Weeks until Eliminate Week! Key Clubs are once again challenged to participate in Eliminate Week—held the week leading up to Mother’s Day, May 4-8, 2015—and help protect the connection between mother and child. Remind clubs to check out resources available at www.theeliminateproject.org/eliminateweek. Celebrate moms and babies by fighting MNT. The time is now!
