Sam Houston State University – Casey Page- “We recently held our Annual Agriculture Department Banquet and SHSU DTA named and awarded the Outstanding Graduate Assistant (Ryan Hotchkiss) who is a former DTA member and the Faculty Member of the Year (Sharon Frey), we had 8 members who participated in Relay for Life, and we sponsored a team in the Beef Cattle Show Team’s washer tournament.  We also would like to thank everyone for coming to the national convention and we HIGHLY appreciate the kind words that many shared about how much they enjoyed the convention! At our next meeting we will elect new officers and begin making plans for the upcoming school year!”

Abilene Christian University- Had a great turn out it’s annual All School Intramural Rodeo which DTA members worked in conjunction with the Agriculture and Environmental Science Club to put on; the event was a great success and it served as their major fundraiser for this year.

Tennessee Tech University

The chapter had members participate in Relay for Life and has been active in some fundraising along with electing new officers.

North West Missouri State

Elected new officers and is working to become more active through meetings and outreach to eligible students.

Each Achiever (our newsletter) will contain a bio highlighting one officer from the national council in order for our DTA members to have more information about the students who are serving our Organization. I would like to start the April/ May issue by giving you all a little more information about myself.

Kyle Ferrell- National President. I am a junior Agribusiness major

from ACU. I come from a non agricultural back-ground and have really enjoyed my college experiences and opportunities as they have allowed me to engage the agriculture industry on a first hand basis. In a continued effort to gain further experience in the Dude Ranching Industry, I will be spending this summer doing an internship in the great state of Wyoming just outside of Jackson. I have been working in the horse industry for several years and I have a passion for sharing the equine experience with first-timers.
