Congratulations!

Congratulation is extended to Dr. Tony Tremblay, Canada Research Chair in New Brunswick

Studies for his renewal as a Canada Research Chair . It was announced by Honourable Gary

Goodyear, Minister of State (Science and Technology), that “Our government is committed to

attracting and retaining the world’s best and brightest researchers, supporting innovation, creating

jobs, and strengthening our economy,”. “By investing in programs such as the Canada Research

Chairs, we are fostering cutting-edge research and the generation of new innovations for the

marketplace, which will benefit Canadians”. Dr. Tremblay’s research will greatly improve

understanding of how New Brunswick’s culture is unique and will tell us much about the country as

Workshops and Festivals

At STU - A Teaching for Inclusion discussion is being held on Wednesday 17th April at noon hour in ECH 201. A conversation with Miigam’agan: First Nations students in the classroom. - how can we be sensitive to the cultural differences of first nations students, help them succeed in our courses and help them find support when they need it; and should we make the classroom inclusive in any ways differently from practices employed for our international students? The discussion will be facilitated by Miigam’agan, Stu’s Elder in Residence. Stars in Global Health – Round 5 Videos - Watch innovators explain their Bold Ideas with Big Impact for solving the world's most persistent health challenges. Over 450 videos from 40 countries were submitted as part of the application process for Round 5 of the Stars in Global Health program. All videos are two minutes or less. Anyone can watch the videos. Universities without Walls application process for the 2013-2014 period is NOW OPEN until May 24th 2013. Universities Without Walls is funded by a Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Strategic Training Initiative in Health Research grant (2009-2015). UWW is a national, interdisciplinary learning network connecting academics, community members, and policy makers. It is linked to the CIHR Centre for REACH in HIV/AIDS and to the CIHR Toronto cross-STIHR Collaboration The Universities Without Walls (UWW) is an intensive and individualized 9 month program designed for graduate students from social science, health, arts and humanities disciplines attending Canadian universities. New for 2013 is The OHTN Cohort Study (OCS) Junior Fellowship 2013-2014 - The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain exposure to epidemiologic analysis while developing their own research question. The OHTN Cohort Study is an observational, open dynamic cohort of people who are receiving medical care for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection in Ontario. It is a collaborative and community-driven study, including a Governance Committee made up of people with HIV and other stakeholders who evaluate analysis project proposals for community relevance and ethics. The OCS Junior Fellow will develop an analysis project proposal within his or her specific area of interest that will be subject to scientific and governance committee review. The fellow will conduct his/her own analysis and prepare an oral presentation and report on the findings. The fellow will benefit from mentorship by Dr. Ann Burchell, Co-Principal Investigator and Director of the OCS, at each point in the process. Transformative Change from the Classroom to Practice Collaborating Across Borders (CAB) IV, June 12-14, 2013 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Early-bird deadline extended until April 20, 2013. Registration is now OPEN. Continuing the highly successful Collaborating across Borders Conference series, CAB IV is the fourth joint conference that links Canada and the United States around inter professional education (IPE) and practice (IPP). CAB IV will continue the traditions established by previous CAB conferences by focusing on the themes of education, practice, leadership and policy in a North American context. The conference will feature best practices, showcase evidence-based outcomes and lessons learned, and provide a venue for scholarly dialogue and productive networking. CACHE 2013 Conference will provide an environment to exchange best practices around CHE/CPD, its impact on health professionals, patient care, health systems and society and to discuss innovations in shifting cultures towards collaboration across all stages of the learning continuum. In addition to the 2013 CACHE Conference, there is an opportunity to share

knowledge and best practices on the continuum of learning for the healthcare professionals as the CACHE Conference coincides with the Collaborating Across Borders (CAB) IV conference from June 12-14. Call for Papers: At the EDGE: Creating Direction for Peace and Justice brings together people and organizations involved in educating and working with youth who recognize that in every act of violence and injustice there is a message that needs to be understood (Vanier, 2008). Submissions received on or before April 30th, 2013 will be reviewed by the conference program committee and proponents will be notified of acceptance of their proposals by May 30th, 2013. The 2013 Summer Conference -"Coming Together as One: Navigating the Relationship between Indigenous Peoples of Canada and Canadians". Geneva Park, August 8-11, 2013. The 2013 Couchiching Conference is a unique forum for open, non-partisan discussion about the significant historical and contemporary issues that affect the relations of Indigenous Peoples of Canada and Canadians. It will explore, under different frames, including constitutional, social justice, economic, and environmental, how we can move forward to create a just and mutually respectful relationship between Indigenous Peoples and Canadians. Keynote Speakers - Hon. Paul Martin, Roberta L. Jamieson is a Mohawk woman from the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory in Ontario named three times to the Women’s Executive Network’s Top 100 list and she is a Member of the Order of Canada.
