FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

WOW! What a marvelous and fantastic time during our Womanhood Month. Thanks to our Womanhood Month Committee, Ministerial Staff, Office Staff and to the many volunteers for an awesome month of activities and ministry opportunities. We are very grateful for the flexibility of our ladies and Women’s leadership as we were called to adjust some of the activities for the month. This show of patience and support is evidence of “Transforming Discipleship” and I hope that we all continue on a quest to be “Changed Into God’s Glorious Image”.

Hey, did you know that this past Wednesday was Administrative Professional’s Day? Well, join me in showing much love and appreciation to our own Mrs. Dennise Lindsay, who is our Executive Administrator/Office Manager. Thank you for using your gifts to further the Lord’s Kingdom at First Calvary. We are grateful for your labor in this vineyard.

May starts this week and our emphasis will be on Evangelism/Outreach. We will begin with our Evangelism Blitz on May 5th. Please come help spread the Gospel….invite folk to God’s Family and to Church. It’s easier than you think. Please see the bulletin for all the other Evangelism events that are planned for the Month. We thank our Evangelism Ministry for their commitment to the Great Commission. Come be a part of the movement!

Also coming soon, the Annual Spring Revival will be held on May 7th – 9th. Our Guest Revivalist will be Pastor Brian Edmonds, Macedonia Church of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA. Pastor Brian is a son of this church. He is a former Associate Minister and served on our Church Staff. It will be good to have him home and we hope that YOU will be here to welcome him. So, we are looking for each of you to come get revived!

Again, during the month of May our Church Calendar focus is on the area of Evangelism. What does it mean to evangelize? An easy definition is that it means to share the Gospel with. Who is to participate in our Evangelism Ministry? Everyone! Everyone can share the story of how Christ came into their life…how that happened MATTERS. Your story can be a catalyst for someone else’s relationship with Christ to grow. It’s simple really, but some find it quite a challenge. Why do we sing, shout and give praise to Jesus but find it difficult to share one on one with someone about Him? All it takes is the first step. Don’t miss your opportunity to be an effective disciple of Jesus Christ. Remember: what’s missing in CH _ _CH? UR! Let us continue to make our church motto a reality….and let us continue to be AN EXCITING CHURCH EXCITED ABOUT ITS MISSION!

THE DEACON’S MESSAGE

It would be a shame to live an entire life without hope, or without knowing you were a recipient of a great inheritance. The sad part about it is that there are many people who live like this every day. They have an opportunity to live a life that is indefinably amazing if they choose Jesus as their Savior. So what happens when you choose Him? You learn that He has already chosen you before you were born, and that you have been given a priceless inheritance. Hebrews 9:15-17, NIV outlines the legal data for you to receive your inheritance. “For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant. In the case of a will, it is necessary to prove the death of the one whom made it, because a will is in force when somebody has died; it never takes effect while the one who made it is living.” There you have it. Jesus died for you! Have you claimed your inheritance?
