O Lord, I love you with my whole heart. I thank you for having created me, called me into your Church amd preserved me during the night past. I offer you all my actions of the day. Grant that they may be done according to your Holy will and for your greater glory. May your grace be always with me and with all those who are dear to me. Amen

So, if we know l x w x 3 = 36

Then, 36 ÷ 3 = 12 (This is the l x w, what two factors can equal 12?) Try to solve for l x w. Next slide will show you answers.

H = 3, l x w = 12, What factors can we use?

3 x 4 = 12, 1 x 12 = 12, 2 x 6 = 12. So the length and width can be any of these pairs where l x w = 12.

Solve word problems involving volume of rectangular prismsHailey built a box with the dimensions: Length of 2 feet, width of 2 feet, height of 3 feet. If she doubled the dimensions, she thinks she will double the volume. Is Hailey correct?

2 x 2 x 3 = 12 cubic feet

What about when we double the dimensions:

4 x 4 x 3 = 48 cubic feet. Doubling the dimensions did not double the volume. Think about why not.

Build Your Friendship with God
