1 Welcome Guests! We are glad you are here! Here are a few things we thought you would like to know to help you feel at home with us today: Please accept one of the green bags that you will find on your way out of the front entrance of the sanctuary as our gift to you. Restrooms are located in the large room adja- cent to the sanctuary. Our ushers will be glad to point you in the proper direction. Children are always welcome to worship with us. However, for your convenience, a nursery is available for parents with children 3 years old and younger. The nursery is staffed during the T3 hour (Trinity Time Together) & 10:45am service. Parents may use this room during the 8:00am service as well, being able to watch the service on the TV located in that room. An usher will be happy to help you find the nursery room. The offering is an opportunity for our members to support the Lord’s work at Trinity. As our guest, we ask only that you sign our Friendship Pad as it is passed down the pew. When we celebrate the Lord’s Supper, we do so convinced that Jesus gives us His true body and blood for the forgiveness of our sins. Re- ceiving the Lord’s Supper here expresses not only fellowship with the Lord, but also agreement with the teachings of this congregation. There- fore communicant members of LC-MS congrega- tions are always welcome to commune with us, and other guests wishing to commune are kindly asked to speak with the pastor before the ser- vice. We cherish the opportunity to worship with all followers of Jesus, and we regret the sad divisions within Christianity. Whether you are communing with us today or not, please join us (and Jesus!) in praying for truth and unity within His Church. This facility is equipped with a hearing assis- tance system. Please ask an usher for a receiv- er. We would love to have your family join us for coffee, snacks, and the casual, conversational Bible Study we call T3 that takes place most weekends in the gym. Welcome Guests! We are glad you are here! Here are a few things we thought you would like to know to help you feel at home with us today:

Please accept one of the green bags that you will find on your way out of the front entrance of the sanctuary as our gift to you.

Restrooms are located in the large room adja-cent to the sanctuary. Our ushers will be glad to point you in the proper direction.

Children are always welcome to worship with us. However, for your convenience, a nursery is available for parents with children 3 years old and younger. The nursery is staffed during the T3 hour (Tr in i ty Time Together ) & 10:45am service. Parents may use this room during the 8:00am service as well, being able to watch the service on the TV located in that

room.

Re-ceiving the Lord’s Supper here expresses not only fellowship with the Lord, but also agreement with the teachings of this congregation. There-fore communicant members of LC-MS congrega-tions are always welcome to commune with us, and other guests wishing to commune are kindly asked to speak with the pastor before the ser-vice. We cherish the opportunity to worship with all followers of Jesus, and we regret the sad divisions within Christianity. Whether you are

communing with us today or not, please join us (and Jesus!) in praying for truth and unity within His Church.

This facility is equipped with a hearing assis-tance system. Please ask an usher for a receiv-er.

We would love to have your family join us for coffee, snacks, and the casual, conversational Bible Study we call T3 that takes place most weekends in the gym. Ask any of our members and we will be happy to help you find your way and get settled in.

Look What’s New! New books and resources have been added to Trinity’s Creation Corner in the school library. This space is for EVERYONE – kids and adults, Trinity students, public school, or home schooled. Come down and check it out. All materials are available to be signed out for any length of time that you need. All we ask is that you bring it back when you are finished. Here’s a list of some recent additions: JOURNEY THROUGH THE CREATION MUSEUM - Ex-

perience an amazing tour through the Creation Mu-seum over and over again with this beautiful collec-tion of photos and commentary from Answers in Genesis president Ken Ham. Take this walk through history and see how relevant it is to you and your family in answering the challenges of today’s culture in crisis. By Ken Ham; Master Books

THE BUILDING OF THE ARK ENCOUNTER - Located in Williamstown, Kentucky, the Ark Encounter is a one-of-a-kind historically themed attraction. In an enter-taining, educational, and immersive way, it presents a number of historical events centered on the Ark and the Flood as presented in the Book of Genesis. By Answers in Genesis; Master Books

MORE THAN A CARPENTER - Skeptic Josh McDowell thought Christians were out of their minds. He ridi-culed and insulted them, then decided to combat them with his own thorough research to disprove the claims of Jesus Christ.. To his surprise, he discovered that the evidence suggested exactly the opposite—that Jesus, instead of being simply a first-century He-brew carpenter, truly was the God he claimed to be. By Josh McDowell and Sean McDowell; Tyndale House Publishing House

GUIDE TO DINOSAURS - Dinosaurs were amazing creatures. From the time their bones were un-earthed, the story of these unusual beasts has capti-vated people of all ages. But there are still many questions. This book explores the fascinating history of these animals and the discoveries that have been made about them. By Institute for Creation Research; Harvest House Publishers

GUIDE TO CREATION BASICS - ICR’s Guide To Crea-tion Basics is elegantly produced and powerfully pre-sented. The favorite dogmas of evolution are boldly examined and dismantled with the obvious truth that God’s handiwork is clearly visible everywhere. This book sets forth a generous sampling of that evi-dence, making a vivid and compelling case for the Biblical account of creation. This is an invaluable re-source for students, teachers, or anyone confused by authoritative sounding skeptics. By Institute for Crea-tion Research

Prayer Before Worship Lord Jesus, I want this time to belong to You and You alone. You deserve my undivided attention and my complete adoration. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit so that I can give You what You alone deserve, my true worship. Amen.

Old Testament Reading: 1 Samuel 26: 2-11 So Saul went down to the Desert of Ziph, with his three thousand chosen men of Israel, to search there for David. Saul made his camp beside the road on the hill of Hakilah facing Jeshimon, but David stayed in the desert. When he saw that Saul had followed him there, he sent out scouts and learned that Saul had definitely arrived. Then David set out and went to the place where Saul had camped. He saw where Saul and Abner son of Ner, the commander of the army, had lain down. Saul was lying inside the camp, with the army encamped around him. David then asked Ahimelech the Hittite and Abishai son of Zeruiah, Joab's brother, "Who will go down into the camp with me to Saul?" "I'll go with you," said Abishai. So David and Abishai went to the army by night, and there was Saul, lying asleep inside the camp with his spear stuck in the ground near his head. Abner and the soldiers were lying around him. Abishai said to Da-vid, "Today God has delivered your enemy into your hands. Now let me pin him to the ground with one thrust of my spear; I won't strike him twice." But David said to Abishai, "Don't destroy him! Who can lay a hand on the LORD's anointed and be guiltless? As surely as the LORD lives," he said, "the LORD himself will strike him; either his time will come and he will die, or he will go into battle and perish. But the LORD forbid that I should lay a hand on the LORD's anointed. Now get the spear and water jug that are near his head, and let's go."

P: This is the Word of the Lord C: Thanks be to God. Anthem: “You, Jesus, Are My Shepherd True” (8:00) Mixed Choir Epistle Reading: Romans 12: 9-21 (Sermon Text) Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmo-ny with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord. On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head." Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

P: This is the Word of the Lord C: Thanks be to God.

Gospel—Good News: Matthew 5: 38-48 "You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what re-ward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

P: This is the Gospel of the Lord. C: Praise to you, O Christ!

FROM THE BUSINESS MANAGER... For as long as I can remember, my house has had a particular item ready to go, just in case of an emergency. It is always visible, always within reach, and keeps us prepared at a moments notice, should it be need-ed. That's right, it is my wife's emergency watermelon. What is an emergency watermelon? Well, as it has been explained to me, in the event that we receive unexpected company at our home, or we are invit-ed to someone else's house on a whim, my wife grabs the emergency watermelon, cuts it up, and we are ready to entertain with juicy wedges of fruity goodness. During the summer, in the heat of an all-out poten-tial hospitality war, we may even have 3 or 4 emergency watermelons prepared for battle. You might find one in the car, one in the mudroom, one on the counter, and once, I even found one in the bathroom. Being prepared for the unexpected, the unanticipated, or the all-out emergen-cy event is often something we plan on planning, but never get to. Over 57% of all adult Americans have less than $1,000 in an emergency sav-ings account. Getting hit with a surprise car repair, or a busted furnace, or finding out you need to pay for braces for your fifth child, can all catch you off-guard and unprepared. No one enjoys delayed gratification, but saving for tomorrow by sacrificing a little today, is never a decision that you end up regretting. As you pursue being a good steward of the gifts that God has blessed you with, consider taking some time to make some small changes. Plan for those emergencies. You know they will come, and when they do, you will be better prepared. I stubbed my toe on another watermelon this morning. It's a new one that seemed to ap-pear overnight. I wonder who is coming over. Commence emergency watermelon preparations.

Trinity’s Adopt-A-Roadway roadside clean up continues on SATURDAY, MAY 12TH from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Trinity is responsible to maintain the cleanliness of Freistadt Road between Farmdale and Wasaukee Roads, and Granville Road be-tween Highland and Mequon Roads. Participants can be as young as 11, but anyone under 16 years old must be accompa-nied by a parent. We can have a maximum of 20 people participate, so if you would like to be included, you must sign up in the Gathering Room. This is a fun and simple way to serve our community, enjoy the beautiful spring weather, and get to know your fellow members of Trinity better. Call, text, or email Rick Adams ([email protected], 414-801-6690) if you have any questions.

APRIL NEHEMIAH PROJECT—Marketing efforts are not free. Paid advertising, like Trinity’s ongoing use of Google Ad-Words, our new school promotional vid-eo playing in theaters, and our recent print advertisement in local newspapers for Holy Week and Easter services, come at a cost.

This month’s Nehemiah Project will raise funds for selective marketing opportuni-ties for our church and school. Our goal is to raise $10,000 for advertising, print, and possible signage. Along with that paid advertising, we’ll continue to pur-sue low and no cost publicity like visiting area congregations without schools, us-ing social media, and taking advantage of free publicity in area newspapers. In addition, we ask you to continue to tell your friends, co-workers, and family about our church and school ministry as we all seek to join in His mission. (Donation envelopes can be found in the Gathering Room.)

Thank you for considering a donation to the April Nehemiah project.

LWR COLLECTION: Thank you for the towels! Now we need to work on baby items: sweaters, hooded sweatshirts, undershirts (no onesies), and sleepers (preferably without feet). Items should be sized 6 mos.-24 mos. We can still use 3-4 oz bar soap. Items may be placed in the LWML collec-tion box found in the mailroom. Thank you for supporting Lutheran World Relief.

The LWML SWD ZONE 5 SPRING RALLY will be held on Saturday, April 28th at 9:00 a.m. at First Immanuel Cedarburg. Ingathering items are for MOST Ministries VBS program. Please bring boxes of 24 crayons and Zip-loc bags (snack, quart, and gallon). Our own Amy Kay will be the guest speaker sharing her MOST Ministry trip to Nicaragua.

A CONGREGATIONAL CALL MEETING was held on Wednesday, April 18th for the purpose of calling a Principal for Trinity. Please keep Samuel See-feld in your prayers as he considers his call to serve as Principal for Trini-ty and the call he currently holds at Milwaukee Lutheran High School.

Krankin' For Kids charity bike ride & walk

Saturday, JUNE 23, 2018

Our event offers routes through scenic roads and trails of Wash-ington and Ozaukee Counties.

This family-friendly ride accommodates all skill and fitness levels, includ-ing: 36-mile, 15-mile, and 5-mile routes. Even if you prefer not to bike, we invite you to participate in our adventure walk for all those non-riders who still want to be part of this event.

You also won't want to miss the post-walk/ride activities! Stay for lunch, musical entertainment, sports massages, family activities, and great raffle drawings -- all on the historic grounds of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Your registration also includes a dri-fit T-shirt. But you'll want to register early to guarantee that you get one! Keep in mind, while you can still reg-ister the day of the event, prices will go up slightly after June 9!

Consider organizing a TEAM of 10 or more riders -- then each participant is only $20 ($25 after June 9). Each team member will need to turn in a signed waiver before or on the day of the event. There are team registra-tion forms on our website: lsses.org/events/krankin-kids/registration/.

All proceeds benefit the children at LSSES (Lutheran Special School Educa-tional Services! Each year our special events fund-raising provides much needed scholarship and tuition assistance for at-risk kids. Your participa-tion will directly impact our students who struggle with learning and emo-tional challenges.

For the last 48 years, we at Trinity have been blessed to have Pastor & Ardis in our midst. Pastor Bernhardt served as Trinity’s Administrative Pastor from 1970-1993 faithfully shepherding the con-gregation in God’s Word through sermons, Bible stud-ies, baptizing countless children & adults, joining many couples in marriage, leading young people in the Rite of Confirmation, visiting the homebound & hospitalized, and comforting families at the loss of a loved one.

During his retirement, Pastor continued to serve by visiting the homebound and lending a helping hand to Trinity’s pastors as he was able. By his side, was his supportive & faithful wife, Ardis, who humbly served her Lord by using the talents He gave her like knitting & crocheting, gardening, baking, quilting, hosting din-ners and so much more! A great many of us have been recipients of her homemade choco-late covered marshmallow Easter eggs which she delivered personally each spring! On April 29th, we’d like to give everyone the opportunity to thank them and to wish them well as they begin a new journey in life, moving to Chippewa Falls, to be closer to family. Please join us in the Gathering Room following the 8:00 service (No T3 this morning) for homemade desserts, juice and coffee.
