April 2018 Newsletter
Principal Message
This year, as we end the season of Lent, we turn our thoughts to Easter and the joy and the hope that it represents. Without Easter, without the Resurrection, we would face a future of darkness rather than the promise of eternal life. Easter is truly a time of celebration! As we see signs of renewed life all around us in nature, we realize that we can share in that
renewal. What a sign of God’s love we experience with the Resurrection! We are truly Easter people. Together, as parents and teachers, we face the future – with all of its challenges and all of its opportunities – with renewed faith and hope as we voice our joyful “Alleluia”.
Yours in Christ,

EQAO Primary and Junior Assessment From May 22 through to June 4 students
in Grade 3 and Grade 6 at Saint John Paul II will be writing the Education Quality
and Accountability Office (EQAO) Assessment of Reading, Writing and
Mathematics, Spring 2018. These province-wide tests are developed by Ontario
teachers and assessment experts and resemble the work children do in class every
day. We ask that you ensure your child is well rested and, if at all possible, please
avoid appointments during this time. Parents requesting more information about
the assessment can access it at www.eqao.com
Spring has finally sprung and with it comes many exciting
changes. Students are getting outdoors more and the
temperature sometimes lends itself to abandoning jackets for
sweaters. Please keep in mind that our yard becomes very
muddy in the spring so it is highly recommended that
students wear outdoor boots or shoes that are easily
washable. It is also very helpful to have your child’s
Name on their clothing. Campaigns.mabelslabels.com
Students are encourage to walk, ride their
bicycle, skateboard or scooter every
Wednesday in April. Our bus students are
