Dawson Resource Council Recycling Town Hall Meeting

Recycling Town Hall will be May 5, 2018 from 2-4 PM. Host is Dawson Resource Council. Location is the EPEC.

Join Dawson Resource Council, local affiliate of Northern Plains Resource Council, for a community town hall on recycling in Glendive. We'll hear about the recycling options that we already have around Glendive, discuss our visions for the future of recycling locally, and outline some next steps to make that future become a reality. If you want to be a part of the solution, come chat! For questions or to RSVP, contact Amy at 939-5915.

Your Voice Has Power

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). This year, Dawson County Domestic Violence’s campaign is about embracing your voice, understanding consent, and helping prevent sexual violence. There are many ways to embraces one’s voice, from practicing or providing consent to speaking out against stereotypes or gender biases. There are also many ways to aide in prevention, from calling out harmful

attitudes and challenging victim-blaming to believing survivors when they disclose. Join us in acknowledging our roles in preventing sexual violence. For more information please contact the Daw-son County Domestic Violence Office at 406-377-6477 or check out our Face-book page, www.facebook.com/dcdvprogram, for weekly updates and information on SAAM.

Building Connections that keep the community moving forward.

Chat with Christine

This morning as dawn was unfolding, I finally heard the bird chorus outside my window. I always wait for this marker to announce spring is actually here. I think today, March 29, 2018 it has arrived. So hopefully, that small dusting of snow is the last piece of winter because I believe we are all ready for the sunshine and breath of a new season. As we leave winter, I find I am reflective and peaceful and though the months ahead promise to be extremely busy I am always excited to see what comes with burst of spring. The Entrepreneurial Spirit of business has been blooming in Glendive as well. Three of our Shop Glendive members were on the front of this week’s Ranger. What a great story to celebrate all their creativity and hard work. Glendive has a wonderful momentum building and we are excited about what their expanded new locations will offer downtown Glendive.

So what is ahead? First I hope if you are not a vendor participating in the Spring Fling, please take time to come grab a bite, visit the trade show, April 13 & 14 and find great ideas to spruce up your home, yard and more. This will also be a great weekend to visit our ShopGlendive retailers. If you participate in the “Tour de Glendive” you have an opportunity to win a great door prize filled with unique items from all the participating ShopGlendive members. April 22nd is Earth Day and the Chamber will again partner with the Greater Glendive Community Foundation, and the City of Glendive to sponsor Community Clean Up Week April 21st-29th. Please watch for details. We have also just closed the 2018 Paddlefish/Caviar grant application submission process and grant awards will be announced later in April.

As a follow up to the Makoshika Basketball Tournament, thank you all in Glendive for helping us be great hosts for our teams and their fans. We are following the success we’ve had with the MBB this summer on July 14 & 15 with the Glendive 3 on 3 Downtown Rumble! This ½ court, pavement tournament will be in the center of downtown with age brackets from 4th grade – 30+. Please let us know if you would like more information. Finally, I would like to give a shout out to your hard working board. They are an engaged leadership team and as the staff, we are loving the energy they are brining to your Chamber.

In the weeks ahead, we will continue to focus on serving the members and to inviting the visitor to Share the Local Experience. On April 26th & 27th the Chamber & Glendive CVB will be hosting Glendive Hospitality Training so if you would like to attend please let me know. Also, Please watch in April for an official social media policy. As the algorithms continue to evolve we are working to put Chamber & member posting, and post sharing guidelines in place to ensure we keep a vibrant social media presence.

Welcome to Spring! See you in a few weeks and the Fling! Sincerely, Christine Whitlatch
