April 1st: Easter is celebrated on April Fool’s Day for the first time in 73 years. Today, Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday after the Paschal full moon, the full moon after the spring equinox. Once the date of the full moon is set, it’s easy to determine the date of Easter Sunday and other Easter holidays.

April 16th: Patriots Day: Some people know little or nothing about Patriot’s Day. To New Englanders, it is a big, big day. In the states in New England, it’s a holiday with a day off of work. Banks, schools, post offices, and businesses have the day off.

Patriot’s Day commemorates the Battle of Lexington and Concord on April 19, 1775. This battle began the American Revolutionary War. It also honors the “Midnight Ride of Paul Revere”, that evening when Paul Revere rode through town warning the colonists that “The Red Coats are coming!”

April 27th: National Arbor Day is the Tree Planter’s hol-iday, and has been celebrated since 1872. It began in Nebraska, a largely treeless plain back in the 1800’s. It is a day to plant and dedicate a tree to help nature and the environment. Millions of trees are planted on this day.

The National Arbor Day Foundation provides millions of trees for planting. It is estimated that 18 million trees are planted each year on Arbor Day.

Message FroM the Manager

Merry Sinacore Our new homes are in and the new owners will be very soon. These homes will add a great deal to our commu-nity and the new residents will be a great addition. The new gate remotes have arrived and we are distrib-uting them to all the snow birds who are leaving to go back north. We will then give them out to all the per-manent residents. Both systems will continue to work. The reason to get all the snow birds done is so we will not have to spend money on sending the gate remote to them via mail, so then can enter the community when they come back. Everyone will get a new remote but it will take time to get everyone registered so please be patient. We are coming up on the Storm Season, so please, all who are going home for the summer, including residents leaving for a few months, and anyone who will be away from Plantation Village clear your carport and put your shutters down. You must secure your home so nothing can become flying debris and damage or hurt other property. Remember, it does not have to be a hurri-cane to have high winds and strong rain to do damage. Plantation Village will not be able to secure your home for you, so you need to make sure this is done before you leave or have in place someone to take care of your home. Remember, secure your home. The flu season will be here until May so please use the hand sanitizer to help prevent the spread of this season latest flu. As always, Plantation Village is very unique and it is be-cause of its people. They are the best of this community and what makes us a premier community. All the good things can be accomplished together. Again, we are fortunate to work in this great environ-ment.

Message from Co-Op PresidentFrank Fields

Well, this is the month that the snowbirds start returning to their northern homes. We hope they have safe travels and look forward to seeing them next season. All the new houses have been delivered and installed. They really help with the appearance of the park. The participation at bocce ball has been great and next season we will have two courts with picnic tables and umbrellas for residents to rest and get out of the sun while waiting for their turn. Pickleball will be completed this month and residents can start enjoying this activity. The new remote gate openers are in have been given out to those that wanted one. Look for more security features in the near future. I would like to give Terry Yorke and his board a big thank you for all that they have done this season to make it an-other great one. As always, look out for your neighbors.

Federation of Manufactured Homeowners Organization

The FMO is the only organization in the State of Florida that watches over the interests of the people living in manufactured homes. The Florida Mobile Home Act ( Florida Statute 723) was enacted in 1984, in part to address the relationship be-tween the park owner and the homeowner. The legislature recognized that the mobile home owners have certain basic property rights which must be protected. The legislature also recognized the park owner had certain rights that needed to be protected. They also are included in the law. Florida Statute 723 is a document that all manufactured home owners should be familiar with, and it is available on line. It covers such items as: Your prospectus, failure of a park owner to provide a prospectus, park owner’s obligations as well as home owners obligations, rules and regulations, dispute set-tlements, evictions, grounds and proceedings, lot rental increases, reduction in services or utilities, change in rules and regulations. The timing of this year’s session creates an opportunity for our mobile home communities. Legislators and their aides will be returning to their districts during the week of March 12th. Now is the time to extend an invitation to your Representative and Senator to attend a meeting in your park. Local officials should be on your agenda as well. The invitation should be offered soon…. Their agendas fill up quickly.

DraMature is Manatee Performing Arts Center’s resident theatre troupe. The ongoing program gives those 55+ op-portunities to learn and practice their new acting skill. Partic-ipants stage productions on a regular basis at Manatee Per-forming Arts Center, Bradenton. They also take their shows on the road and perform at various communities through-out the area. In January, they staged Guys and Dolls Sr. They’re always looking for new troupe members. You can join at any time. If stepping on stage has been on your bucket list, cross if off and join DraMature. Here’s what Estelle Goldsby, a member of DraMature, had to say about her experience: “Improv was scary and made me feel vul-nerable. Encouragement and kind patience on Rick’s part eased the discomfort. Now it’s not scary. It makes me think on my feet—sometimes, it works out great, sometimes, not so great, but I can do it and I’m no longer afraid.” (Rick Kerby is the producing artistic director of Manatee Players.) On April 11 they will be performing DraMature’s Greatest Hits at Manatee Performing Arts Center. Tickets can be pur-chased at the box office, Tuesday–Friday, 10 a.m.–5p.m. , and Saturday, 10 a.m.–2 p.m., by phone at (941)748-5875 or online www.ManateePerformingArtsCenter.com. Tickets are $6.

Big Thank You to All the Volunteers Plantation Village has the best volunteers. Without the volunteers the Club House would set empty. There would be no socializing, new friendships, laughs or fun. That would make a very boring park. Thank you for your time and hard work organizing all the calendar events. A special thanks to the volunteers who help me with the BBQ and dances. Without them these events wouldn’t happen.

Sharon Beaumont

Summer Volunteers needed While the snowbirds are migrating north, we full-timers at Plantation Village could use some volunteers to keep activities going through the off-season. Activities in need: Bingo helpers; BBQ Picnic 1 Friday evening per month; Coffee Socials usually 2x per month on Saturday morning; Ladies Night Out chair to organize a monthly trip.

Update: Frank Fields will oversee the summer BBQ Picnics Jill Schein will Chair the “Ladies Night Out” activities We will post a Volunteer Sign-up Sheet in the Mail Room, please consider helping out.

new Bingo Signs PV is one of the most popular Bingo places in the area, of which most people are from outside the park. You’ll notice the new signs that look professional and include our PV entrance, that will advertise by the road on Fridays.
