Each test is comprised of two parts: (1) a computer adaptive test (2) a performance task. The Summative Assessments are aligned with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics. The tests capitalize on the strengths of computer adaptive testing— efficient and precise measurement across the full range of achievement and timely turnaround of results. How Can Parents Support Students During Testing? Please make sure that your child is: Getting a good nights rest Eating breakfast in the morning Arriving to school every day and on time Testing window for 7th and 8th grade at Cesar Chavez is as follows: March 27th through April 6th California Sci- ence Test (8th Grade Only) In addition to SBAC testing, 8th grade students will be taking the CAST in science on April 10th and 11th. Dance Team Auditions Intensity Dance Team audi- tions will be held on Thurs- day, April 13th, from 3-5 pm Immigration Status How does the District Handle Immigration Status? Over the past few weeks there have been questions in our state and around our community about what would occur if immigration officials wanted access to any of our students’ information. All of our school leaders and office staff are directed not to release any student information without a warrant or court order. We do not ask for or track any in- formation regarding immigration status, We do not turn away any child from receiving an education. English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) Cesar Chavez Junior High School’s (CCJHS) third English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) meeting of the school year will be held on Wednesday, April 5th, at 5:00 PM in the library. All parents are welcome to attend. At this meeting, trainings that our teachers have undertaken regarding English Learners (ELs), English Language Development (ELD) curriculum, interventions to assist ELs, student support services, and programs that parents can utilize to help their EL children will all be covered. In addition, a representa- tive from a college will lead a presentation on EL services and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) at the college level. Child care, translation services, and snacks and refreshments will all be provided. We hope to see you there. SMARTER BALANCED TESTING (SBAC) The SBAC is a series of comprehensive end of year assessments of grade-level learning that measure student progress toward college and career readiness. Each test is comprised of two parts:

(1) a computer adaptive test

(2) a performance task.

The Summative Assessments are aligned with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics. EXAMENES SMARTER BALANCED (SBAC) ¿Qué es el SBAC?

El SBAC es una serie de evaluaciones integrales a fin del año de aprendizaje a nivel de grado que miden el progreso del estudiante hacia la preparación para la universidad y de la carrera. Cada prueba es Compuesto de dos partes:

1) una prueba de computadora adaptativa

2) una tarea de rendimiento

Las Evaluaciones Sumativas están alineadas con los Estándares Comunes Estatales (CCSS) para artes del lenguaje en inglés/ alfabetización (ELA) y matemáticas. Las pruebas se apoyan sobre las fortalezas de las pruebas adaptativas de computadoras - medidas eficientes y precisas a través de toda la gama de logros y respuesta oportuna de los resultados.

La ventana de exámenes para 7mo y 8vo grado en Cesar Chávez es:

¿Cómo es que el Distrito trata con el tema de Inmigración?

Las últimas semanas ha habido preguntas en nuestro estado y nues-tra comunidad sobre que se haría en el distrito si es que oficiales de inmigración quisieran tener acceso a cualquier información estudiantil. Líderes escolares y personal de la oficina tienen instrucciones de no dar ninguna información sin ningún mandato u orden de la corte. No-sotros no pedimos ni guardamos ninguna información de estatus migratorio.

La tercera reunio n del Comite de Asesorí a de Estudiantes del Ingle s (ELAC) del an o escolar se llevara a cabo el mie rcoles, 5 de abril, a las 5:00 PM en la biblioteca. Se les da la bienvenida a todos los padres a asistir. En esta reunio n, se tratara sobre los entrenamien-tos que nuestros maestros han realizado con respecto a Estudiantes de Ingle s (ELs), Desarrollo del Idioma Ingle s (ELD, por sus siglas en ingle s), las intervenciones para ayudar a los ELs, los servicios de apoyo estudiantil y los programas que los padres pueden utilizar para ayudar a sus hijos/as que esta n aprendiendo ingle s. Adema s, un representante de un una universidad dirigira una presentacio n sobre servicios EL y Accio n Diferida para Llegadas de Nin ez (DACA) a el nivel universitario.
