GOOD FRIDAY 2017 … This year, on Good Friday, there will two services to remember and

mark our Lord’s Passion and Crucifiction.

The first will be at 12.00noon in Donabate Church.

This will be an ecumenical service, welcoming our Roman Catholic

friend and neighbours joining with us. And about half-way through the

service, we will all process to St Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church for

the second half of the liturgy, carrying the cross, the symbol of

Christianity and Christian Unity.

The second service will be at 2.00pm in Swords Church.

This will be another quiet and reflective service, with opportunities for pausing so as

to be able to take in the enormity of the breadth God-in-Christ was prepared to go to

reach out to us in love.

It is my hope and prayer that as many as reasonably can will make the effort to come

to either service, acknowledging of course the busy-ness of everyday life today, but

also humbly asking that space might be made in that busy-ness.

Thank you in advance.

o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o

… and then on EASTER DAY,

Come and Celebrate! The services on Easter Day will be full of celebration,

hope and joy! In them we celebrate that most

wonderful event – the Resurrection – in which, God

raised Jesus from the dead!

Everyone is invited to come along and join in the

celebration ….

10.00am: Holy Communion, Donabate;

11.30am: Holy Communion, Swords;

1.00pm: Holy Communion, Kilsallaghan.

New Support Coordination Services for Older People in North Dublin City & County

A new Support Coordination Service for older people has been launched in the Dublin North City and County area. ALONE, the charity that supports older people to age at home, has partnered with the HSE to expand its support services to all older people living in these communities. The ALONE Support Coordination Service aims to respond to and address any issues facing older people, which are impacting on their ability to remain living independently in their own home. The charity’s Support Coordinators assist older people who live in a range of accommodation types; privately owned, private rented or social housing homes. If you think you, or an older person you know, might benefit from this service, contact ALONE on (01) 679 1032 or visit www.alone.ie

Booking Open for D&G Kids Summer Camp 2017 The Dublin & Glendalough Kids’ Summer Camp takes place this year in the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation from July 3 to 7. The camp provides a great opportunity for children from 4th to 6th Class to explore their faith in a safe and fun environment while having plenty adventures and making new friends.

The Glencree Centre is in Glencree near Enniskerry and the camp costs €165 which covers all food, accommodation, trips and activities. Tuck shop money is all that is required. The camp is open to all those who are finishing 4th Class to 6th Class. Children can be dropped off at 11am on Monday July 3 and collected at 3.30 pm on Friday July 7. Places must be booked by June 5 2017. The booking form can be downloaded here. It is also available by contacting Lynn Storey at [email protected] or calling 087–6957061. The organisers don’t want financial obstacles to prevent children from taking part in camp. A limited number of bursaries are available to assist families in need. Please contact the Revd Abigail Sines on 01–6778099 or [email protected] prior to May 6 for consideration.

CAR BOOT SALES

Swords Select Vestry is interested in resurrecting the Car Boot Sales

for the coming months of May, June, July, August and possibly

September.

This an appeal for a parishioner to volunteer and who would be

willing to organise and run the Car Boot Sales on Saturday mornings

(say 9.00am to 2.00pm) in the Old Borough School playground.

If you would be interested in helping-out, please contact the

Honorary Secretary of the Select Vestry, Enid Hughes, at

[email protected] at your earliest convenience.

In advance, thank you for your help!
