Yahoo! It's April! Spring is here! That means warm weather, flowers begin to bloom, and the leaves on the trees burst out! And it's time for retreat!!! This is the best time of the year! The project at the May meeting will be a watercolor piece taught by Gayle Laible. I personally am inex-perienced at watercolor and tend to shy away from this medium. I am trying to keep in mind that it is good to challenge oneself, and will be staying for the class! And, it is exciting to give something unfamiliar a try! Please consider staying for the project after the meeting! Gayle is a great teacher! Hope to see you there! Linda.

GCDA Service Update
Peggy Hermes, Coordinator
Hi All.
We will once again be painting the wheelchair/walker bags this year to be donated to Starfire Council of
Cincinnati. I will be bringing them to the meetings if any of you want to take some home to paint. We have
19 of the 50 to be donated already completed so we only have to do 31 more!! You all rocked the Bags
last year!! Thank you!!
Many of you suggested we do something for the Military serving in the Middle East this year so (as I told
you at the March Meeting) I called Keith Maupin of the Yellow Ribbon Support Center. I asked him what
we can do to help his cause and he said we can collect items listed on his website Yellowribbon.org.
Sooooo... we will start collecting non perishable items listed under Health and Beauty and Miscellaneous
on the website. We will start bringing in items at the June Meeting since there is no Meeting in April and I
will not be at the May Meeting. We are trying to only collect things without a short shelf life.
As a follow up to our March Meeting, I contacted Keith Maupin again and I asked him to come to our Sep-
tember Meeting. I invited him to come have lunch with us and afterwards he can pick up the stash of
goods we have collected for him and he agreed!!! So at the September Meeting we gotta bring in some
GREAT food!! This will also be a great Photo Op for Promotion of our Club!!!
Thank you,
Peggy Hermes (Service)
Christmas Raffle Melanie Wilmhoff
I know we all have Retreat on our minds right now, but do not forget about painting your (6) ornaments for
the Christmas Raffle! Were off to a slow start this year so after retreat, get your thinking hat on and
knock out those ornaments or basket lids. The following members turned in their ornaments in February or
March: Lynne Rice Suzanne Ward
Judy Helmes Gayle Wissell
I will get your incentive tickets to you at the May meeting.
This is the second largest fundraiser we have for the chapter, so we need all of you to participate. If you
have any questions about the Raffle, please do not hesitate to talk to me. .
Thanks!
