to all our readersfrom around the

worldWherever in the world you are

joining us from, welcome to our April

issue where we are excited to share

in a bigger, glossier format the

information we love to share with

you through our Facebook group.

What is holistic health? For me it is empowering ourselves through knowledge to offer the body every

opportunity to help itself by working in harmony with it through the bombardment of modern life. The

world of modern medicine has conditioned us to pop a pill every time we feel something is wrong

rather than encourage a positive lifestyle change as not least a prevention but sometimes even the

cure. Holistic health is using the best possible tool for healing, whether that be modern medicine, so

called alternative medicine or a mix of both. My colleagues and I love to share our knowledge and

research with you, but be warned it can sometimes feel as if you have taken the red pill in The Matrix

and finally becoming awake and aware but the rewards are more than worth it.

It is MS, Bowel Cancer, Autism & Homeopathy Awareness weeks in various parts of the world in April

and we have included some often very personal accounts of these and I whole-heartedly thank our

contributors for the courage to share their journey with us in the hope it helps others too. If there is an

issue you would like us to investigate or would love to share please get in touch. With love and light

on our journey through life together.

The number of our kids nowdiagnosed Autistic

1 in 100Editor Tina Hammett

investigates forInternational Autism

Awareness day in April

The Centre for Disease Control in the USA states that 1 in

88 children have an Autism Spectrum Disorder; in the UK the

National Autistic Society says the figure is more than 1 in

100 which is the same for Australia and with prevalence in

boys applying in all three countries. That shocking statistic

was my first introduction to Autism whilst researching for this

article.

There is consensus that the number of children with autism

has increased dramatically since the 1980's and whilst at

least some of this can be apportioned to changes in the way

in which autism is diagnosed, can it be responsible of us to

surmise that historically nearly one in one hundred of the

population was on the autistic spectrum yet undiagnosed? I

find that difficult to comprehend which leads me to believe

there has to be other contributing factors to the rise of autism

and as this is affecting the lives and health of at least one in

every hundred of our children, surely the full resources and

might of our governments should be engaged in

endeavouring to discover the definitive truth or cause?

Inevitably my own research led me fairly swiftly to the

vaccine debate which is very hotly contested on both sides,

however I was sickened when I learned Doctors working in

PAGE 6

Page 7: April 2014 issue

became top drugcompany CEOs!”

collaboration with the Nazi regime in World War

Two and despite being found guilty whilst on trial

at Nuremberg for their direct involvement with

concentration camp atrocities (specifically against

those interned in amongst others, Auschwitz )

were eventually to become Chief Executives of

some of the largest pharmaceutical giants in the

world. These same companies are the ones

injecting our children with vaccines, so on purely

moral grounds alone can we be expected to trust

implicitly and without question our own health let

alone the well-being of our precious children to

such people?

In addition, given the significant value added to

these same companies revenue each year

through vaccination, just how impartial should we

expect these companies to be about the safety of

their products? Heart-breaking stories litter the

web from parents who have watched their

previously healthy, happy children and babies

succumb to the world of autism seemingly

immediately post vaccinations and is it little

wonder there is genuine concern for parents.

Researching the contents of vaccines as stated

by each manufacturer (all of which is public

knowledge and listed on the CDC website) does

not make for pleasant reading. Ingredients include

Aluminium, Antibiotics, Egg Protein and

Monosodium Glutamate, as well as sugars, amino

acids and even foetal bovine serum. One brand

lists monkey kidney cells and of course lest we

forget, the controversial thimerosal which includes

mercury, which according to the World Health

Organisation is ‘natural’ and not harmful.

Despite a list of ingredients such as these, which

on the face of it do not appear the best items to

be injecting children with, a USA study published

a year ago, based on a group of 256 children with

ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and 752

children without (all of whom had undergone an

identical immunisation programme), concluded

that there was no correlation between the vaccine

pea soup that all children were given and that

vaccines were safe. In addition, they state that as

babies’ immune systems were subjected in the

natural world to an inordinate amount of viruses

and bacterium from birth onwards that their

immune systems were more than capable of

coping with said vaccines and their additional

ingredients.

I may not be a doctor with an acute understanding

of molecular biology but that strikes me as a little

overly simplistic. A baby receives a reasonable

amount of antibodies from a mother’s milk to

boost its own forming and fragile immune system

so therefore could this not be clouding the issue

of just how efficient we can perceive a babies

own developing immune systems to be?

With more questions than definitive answers I was

led to the research of Dr Sabin, the Polish

inventor of the polio oral vaccine and was

pleasantly surprised and relieved to learn that he

had tested his vaccine on himself first. Here was

a man who had been more intent on preventing

human suffering than merely worrying about a

profit margin. Thanks to his efforts and other

early pioneers, Polio and some other truly

atrocious diseases that caused immense suffering

PAGE 7

Page 8: April 2014 issue

have been almost eradicated in the world

ensuring the fear and misery they left in their

wake is almost forgotten in the public psyche.

Some diseases though, still live among us;

Pneumococcal disease kills 1.6 million people

each year, including 800,000 children under age

five. Rotavirus is the most common cause of

diarrhoeal hospitalisations killing nearly half a

million children under five each year worldwide.

Have we placed our medical community in a ‘no

win’ dilemma as on one hand we clamour to our

physicians and scientists to protect us from

disease, whilst on the other we claim they are

knowingly and systematically poisoning us?

In a landmark legal case last year a child in the

USA was awarded ‘a significant amount of

compensation’ against a pharmaceutical giant and

that even though it likely pointed the finger of

blame toward vaccines, most of the legal

testimony has been sealed. Reports such as this

do not assuage the doubts of worried parents or

quell the rumble of cynicism that this case could

have set a public precedent against vaccination.

Not only would governments be pressured to

potentially ban vaccines, causing significant loss

of yearly and on-going revenue for the drug

companies but could leave them exposed to the

kind of litigation that Tobacco companies are

desperately trying to hold at bay also. In addition,

how can we be sure that we wouldn’t be setting up

a potential health disaster for the world of the future

with old diseases re-emerging and in some cases

possibly more virulent than before and worse still,

resistant to a re-introduction of vaccines at a later

date?

There is the argument that most of those same

diseases we still vaccinate against today would

have naturally diminished in our modern world

given the improvement in sanitation, clean water

and what we have learned about food and nutrition

in the last hundred years in the west. Again, I am

not a doctor but I am not sure that a disease such

as Polio would have responded to simply a cleaner

environment in this way and it is easy to forget the

debilitating and potentially life threatening side-

effects that such diseases can also cause,

especially as most of us have not fully experienced

them as an epidemic in our lifetime. The World

Health Organisation however, is unequivocal on its

stance on vaccinations stating categorically that

they are not only safe but there is no link to Autism.

Further research led me to scientists who are

tentatively suggesting that many of the auto-

immune disorders that also appear to be

relentlessly on the rise in our society could be

triggered by the same cocktail of chemicals within

vaccines. Sadly and because pharmaceutical

companies earn massive revenues for the long-

term treatment of not least autism but all auto-

immune issues too, sceptics could argue there is

more potential profit in medicating a condition for

life than curing one.

An article by Philippe Grandjean (adjunct professor

of environment health at Harvard School of Public

Health) in June last year, summarised 27 studies in

China investigating the link between

PAGE 8

Page 9: April 2014 issue

“The effect of eachtoxicant may seem

small, but thecombined damage on a

population scale canbe serious”

neurodevelopment in children and high levels of

fluoride. Known to cause toxicity akin to mercury

poisoning in adults, little has been investigated in

the west of the effect on children, curious given it

is regularly added to plumbed drinking water in

many areas. The findings of these studies found

strong implications that fluoride may indeed

adversely affect cognitive development in children

and as Professor Grandjean so eloquently

concluded;

“Fluoride seems to fit in with lead, mercury, and

other poisons that cause chemical brain drain.

The effect of each toxicant may seem small, but

the combined damage on a population scale can

be serious, especially because the brain power of

the next generation is crucial to all of us.”

Could we be missing the elephant in the room?

The sheer number of vaccines and their chemical

mix of additives that are given to such young,

developing brains and immune systems

combined with the fluoride in our drinking water

become overwhelming for 1 in 88 of our children?

It is staggering that long term studies have not

been carried out for this over the past thirty or

forty years.

To confuse the issue still further, the latest study

published this week in the USA states that

women living in high air pollution areas could be

238% more likely to have a child that develops

autism, and are blaming airborne environmental

toxins. If airborne toxins passed from the mother

to the foetus are being considered a threat, what

about toxins actually injected and ingested into the

body itself?

I am not a parent, Endometriosis prevented me

from having children of my own but the plethora of

mixed messages and data available on the subject

of vaccinations, fluoride and autism has left me

overwhelmed with gratitude that I will never have

to face the decision of whether or not to vaccinate

my new-born or young children. How can a parent

be expected to sieve through it all and confidently

discern truth from propaganda in order to make an

informed choice?

I am left questioning if we are being darkly and

blindly coerced into sacrificing the long term health

of our children on the altar of drug company profit

margins or if I am sitting in an ivory tower of

blissful ignorance having been spared being

exposed to or experiencing the human suffering

incurred by the diseases we are vaccinating

against.

I do not envy the parents out there caught up in

this dilemma but I do think that a statistic of 1 in 88

children deserves a very public, highly transparent,

unbiased worldwide government enquiry to

ascertain the truth. Whether autism is down to

genetic factors, an adverse reaction to

components of vaccines or even the chemical

soup that bombards our modern world from the

food and drinking water we consume to the air we

breathe, surely every single one of those 1 in 88 to

My name is Peter Cunningham, I'm a 33year old Boilermaker and father of fourfrom Melbourne, Australia - I also havebowel cancer!

In late 2012 I started experiencing what I thought

was haemorrhoids. I had blood in my stools and

pain when I wiped. After trying some home

remedies unsuccessfully, I finally bit the bullet

and went off to see the doctor. He lightly

suggested I have a colonoscopy but because I

was only 32 it wasn't thought a necessity as I was

much too young to have any serious issues. After

all, Bowel cancer is an ‘old mans disease’.

So I continued on with haemorrhoid treatments

for months unable to find any relief until my fiancé

Paula insisted I go see her doctor for a second

opinion. He immediately ordered a colonoscopy

and I confess all I could think about was ‘great

now I've got to drink that horrible stuff and spend

the night on the toilet’!

How naive I was. After the procedure I was sent

home with a brief report for the GP, with

something written on it about a polyp which didn’t

seem very much to me so I still wasn't

concerned. On 1st November last year whilst at

work I received the phone call that would change

my life.... I had bowel cancer!

“Whilst at work Ireceived the phone callthat would change my

life… I had bowelcancer”

The following weeks were a blur of tests, which

concluded in medical terms I had stage 3c

(rectal) bowel cancer. The tumour was

approximately 5-7cm in diameter and the lymph

nodes were involved. I also had a small tumour

on my pelvic wall. However, I soon realized how

lucky I was as it wasn't stage 4 and it hadn't yet

spread to my liver or lungs. This meant the long

term prognosis was good and I have the

advantage of youth on my side.

It was because of my experience and how

unaware I was that I decided I had a

responsibility to raise awareness about bowel

cancer and show people that it can happen to

anybody at any age, so I started a Facebook

page called ‘Peter's bowel cancer Journey’ inthe hope that people would take the plunge and

get tested!

Not just ‘an old mans’ diseasePeter Cunningham 33, from Melbourne, Australia bravely shares his very personal journey with us

Bowel Cancer Awareness week (June in Oz)

I share all the information I can about bowel

cancer and also all my treatment, including lots of

photos and videos in the hope it helps others also

affected understand what this cancer entails. In

early December last year I began an intense 6

week radiation and chemotherapy regime. A Picc

line (a long, thin, flexible tube known as a

catheter inserted into one of the large veins of the

arm) was inserted to infuse the chemotherapy

drug twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.

I carried the bottle containing the drugs in my

pocket or wore it around my neck. For me,

chemotherapy wasn't too bad to be honest! In

addition to this I had five radiation sessions a

week. These were brutal but I gained many new

friends in the radiation ward as we were all there

every day together and again I realized how lucky

I was and we supported each other and we

counted down the days together and made light

of the situation we were in.

Then, finally I was done! Within weeks my energy

began to return and the pain slowly diminished. I

felt human again! But then the waiting began. Six

weeks of wondering if the first part of my

treatment had been beneficial. It is the middle of

March as I am writing this and I am anxiously

awaiting the results of my most recent MRI to

see if the main tumour has shrunk and if the

smaller one has hopefully gone. (Cont)

The symptoms of bowel cancer caninclude:

● Bleeding from the back passage(rectum) or blood in your stools

● A change in normal bowel habitsto diarrhoea or looser stools, lasting longer than 4 to 6 weeks

● A lump that your doctor can feel inyour back passage or abdomen(more commonly on the right side)

● A feeling of needing to strain inyour back passage (as if youneeded to pass a bowel motion)

● Losing weight● Pain in your abdomen or back

passage● A lower than normal level of red

blood cells (anaemia)

Check with your General Practitioner ifyou experience any of these symptoms -it could be nothing but its worth getting

My surgery is booked in for April 1st and I am

quite nervous about having such major surgery

as well as the possibility of a permanent

colostomy bag but when I look at my family I

know it will be worth it to be able to watch them

all grow up. What a privilege that will be!

After surgery I will have a further 4-6 months of

chemotherapy to ensure the cancer is gone. I

look forward to that day I hear the news I am

cancer free. Please do follow my story on

There is a perception that juicing is difficult,

messy and even whether to juice fruit and

vegetables whole, cooked or raw. Juicing is just

like anything new - easy when you know how!

However, given the nutrient rich power packed

punch that juicing gives our nutritionally deprived

modern world bodies, can we really afford not to

juice?

We were already juicing when a friend introduced

us to a film called ‘Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead’,

which features loveable, down to earth Australian

Joe Cross. Joe readily admits he was overweight,

indulging in modern lifestyle foods and barely

exercising. He was suffering an auto-immune

skin condition and felt pretty lethargic most of the

time. At the end of what doctors could do to help

him Joe went on a mission to see if a lifestyle

change literally would not only change his life for

the better but potentially save his life!

"When I made my film ‘Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead’, I

literally was fat, sick and nearly dead.” Joe

explains, “I was overweight, loaded up on steroids

and suffering from an autoimmune disease. I

knew I had to drastically change my lifestyle. So I

traded in my junk food diet and only drank fresh

fruit and vegetable juices for the next 60 days. I

lost the weight, got myself off all medication and

truly re-booted my life. Now I could never imagine

returning to my old ways again. And you know

what? If I can do it, so can you!"

And Joe is right, by investing in a simple juicer

(see our recommendations on Amazon via our

website), everyone can juice! It is easier than

PAGE 16

Juiceon!

Page 17: April 2014 issue

preparing a meal from scratch and takes less time

than driving through a fast food drive through.

When we consume juice, our body is flooded with

an abundance of vitamins, nutrients and minerals

that help our bodies to promote natural health.

Additional side-effects of a more holistic diet that

includes juicing can be weight-loss, better skin,

more energy and even clearer thinking!

So, grab a few basic ingredients to get started

and get juicing! There are a myriad of recipes

(including two free on our website here), try to

keep to the 80/20 rule: 80 percent vegetables to

20 percent fruit, simply throw them raw into the

feeder of the juicer, add ice and drink! Our

personal favourite is couple handfuls of Kale,

some fresh ginger, cucumber, an apple, half a

lemon or lime and a couple celery sticks. Our

Nutritionist Debbie Best advocates drinking

immediately after juicing and suggests that even

by adding one juice per day to your routine you

will see some amazing benefits.

Aussie Joe Cross’ film is inspirational and follows

him through the tough first few weeks of detox,

flushing years of bad food and lifestyle from his

system through to a man transformed. So

amazed was Joe himself that he went on a tour of

the USA to promote the benefits of holistic living.

Since then Joe has turned his new found passion

into an easy to follow book available through our

Amazon selection page and from next month

follow our own Lesley Parker’s new to juicing

diary and as Joe says, “juice on!”

Cherry Active is becoming a bit of a star around here, if you are having

(along with everything else mentioned in our articles this month) which youcan view by clicking the Amazon button from our website:

You really can have your chocolate and eat it now that this gorgeous raw

all round healthier version of chocolate. Plus, research suggests that probiotics

are absorbed better from chocolate than yogurt - yum is all we can say.

Maca has been used since the time of the Inca’s. We first came across it a

year ago and have been using it ever since. It gives energy and is a hormone

adaptogen (male or female) and helps the body restore it’s natural hormone

balance. The word ‘super-food’ is being mentioned in some circles and we’ve

even found this great way to take it, as a health friendly hot chocolate!

Page 19: April 2014 issue

Sugar vs Fatthe food fight battle for your waistlineIf you had to pick one, which out of sugar and fat

would you say was a worse threat for your health?

The real answer may surprise you!

Scientists now believe that possibly the largest

contributor to the obesity epidemic sweeping the

USA, UK and Australia is the 50% combination of

both! Whilst natural sugars and fats abound in

nature, nowhere in the natural world can the

combination of 50% fat and 50% sugar be found

in the same item.

This completely man-made phenomenon though

has potentially lethal side effects on our brains

and our waistlines. When consuming a cake or

donut with that magical 50-50 balance, the brain’s

pleasure centre is activated which in turn triggers

an addiction response. In other words, one donut

is rarely enough! The brain craves more and

more of the delectable mix of fats and sugars,

despite the brain knowing that there is little or no

nutritional (and therefore health) value.

As part of the study scientists focused on the

behaviour of rats, mostly because rats eat

anything! They split their rats into three groups,

one was fed mostly fat, pure butter, cream,

cheese etc. The second group was fed high

sugar content foods with little or no fats whilst the

third group were fed cheesecake, cupcakes and

donuts.

Each group was allowed an ‘all they could eat

buffet’ of these foods. Interestingly, the groups

fed on sugar or fat, ate till they were full and then

went off exploring their surrounds and did not

return to the available buffet until hungry once

again. The 50/50 group though never left the

buffet, ate almost without stopping or moving and

very soon turned into very obese rats - who still

carried on eating.

This man-made concoction it would seem was no

accident and manufacturers of these foods

probably knew how highly addictive and profitable

for them, their bad for our health products would

be.

Next time you reach for that packet of biscuits,

donuts or cakes remember, one bite is never

going to be enough!

MSAs part of Worldwide

Multiple SclerosisAwareness week, long termsufferer Mary Rogers (UK)

talks to Tina Hammett aboutevery day life with MS

I was diagnosed with progressive-relapsing MS about 14

years ago but looking back it must have always been

slowly creeping more and more into my life. As a child I

suffered with what my Mum called ‘cramps’ in my legs

and had lots of bilious attacks, the latter I now know was

my digestive system not working properly.

In addition, aged only 10 I suffered what I now know to be

Endometriosis, adding to my overall pain plus lots of

unexplained allergies but it was as I progressed through

my teens and on to having my children in my early

twenties that things slowly worsened.

I was almost continually exhausted and then I began

falling over a lot, I remember the night before my wedding,

lying in bed as I had done so many times before, my

muscles rigid, in tearing pain and feeling nauseous. After

each of my three children, symptoms worsened again

each time and all the while I was still dealing with the pain

of Endometriosis, although at that point none of this had

been diagnosed.

I survived on prescription painkillers to desperately try to

contain the pain to make it through the day, at least as

well as one can when continually exhausted. None of my

family could completely understand and even doctors

couldn’t tell me what was wrong with me. Whilst my

youngest child was still at school I remember the

enormous pressure to try to be at the school gates at the

end of the day to collect him, sometimes sores that had

developed on my legs would be bleeding so badly I would

have to telephone my eldest child’s school and ask that

she be allowed to leave her classes a little early to collect

the youngest one instead.

In 1990 I struggled to the wedding of one of my Niece’s

and to this day I don’t know how I physically, let alone

mentally, managed to put one foot in front of the other or

MS Awareness Weekmake it through the day but as her godmother I

wasn’t going to miss seeing her walk down the

aisle.

Eventually though, the monumental effort to walk,

as well as feeling embarrassed at falling over in

public, confined me to my home. Doctors told me

I must be agoraphobic and prescribed Valium

(Diazepam) for my ‘nerves’ and I became hooked,

after this diagnosis they added depression into

the mix also.

Finally, a further 10 years later a new GP took the

time to look through all my records and referred

me to a Neurologist. I am so thankful to that

doctor, without him who knows how much longer

other doctors would continue to tell me it was all

in my head, that I was a neurotic woman and to

pull myself together and get on with it?

Whilst knowing what was wrong with me was a

huge relief, MS is not something that can be

cured, it is managed on a long term basis. I use a

walking frame to get around my home and a

nieces at a rare outing last summer. Sadly, I

have not found a mix of modern drugs that really

help me, and so I have now begun to use holistic

therapies to compliment the drugs.

I have found that hypnosis helps the pain and I

follow a very strict diet which helps my digestion

system. I am now investigating herbal

supplements to help some of the other symptoms.

Life is still a daily struggle and I just get by the

best I can. I try to live a ‘sort of life’ and keep my

tears to my self as MS can be very isolating but at

least I know what is wrong with me now and that I

am not just some ‘neurotic woman’!

Editors Note: MS affects more than 2.3

million people worldwide.

A team of researchers at Weill Cornell Medical

College in New York City recently reported

findings related to epsilon toxin and multiple

sclerosis. Epsilon toxin is produced by a specific

strain of bacteria and their initial findings showed

that about 10% of people with MS showed signs

of having been exposed to the toxin, offering

exciting preliminary findings on a possible trigger

for MS.

Clostridium perfringens, the bacteria in question

is one of the most common causes of food

poisoning in the United States with an estimated

million cases each year. More research is

necessary to confirm or deny that this toxin may

actually trigger the disease in people, and to

provide evidence that contaminated food is a

culprit for transmitting the toxin to people who

develop MS.

“Stress has beennoted as a

contributing factorin everything fromcancer to obesity”

Stress is rife within our modern culture and is

ever increasing. We are bombarded with

pressures whether we are children at school,

adults at work or even struggling with illness.

Stress it seems is everywhere and is relentless.

Not only is it all around us, many scientific studies

have shown just how adverse to our health stress

can be because when the mind is stressed, it

releases powerful hormones into our bodies

which if left unchecked, can literally cause

disease within us.

Stress has been noted as a contributing factor in

everything from cancer to obesity and as a

significant contributing factor to high blood

pressure, headaches, reduced eyesight, stomach

pain & other digestive problems, as well as facial,

neck and back pain. High levels of stress

hormone Cortisol depresses the immune system

and various scientific studies have implicated it as

contributing factor to MS, diabetes, cancer,

coronary artery disease, Alzheimer's and

Parkinson's to name a few. For children suffering

ever more increasing exam pressures the

resulting stress becomes a vicious circle as the

more stressed they become the less they are

able to learn and retain information, literally

creating deficits in a child's intellectual abilities,

crippling the capacity to learn.

However, if there was within our powerful mind a

now scientifically proven method of such

incredible stress beating proportions that both a

BBC Horizon documentary and even John

Hopkins University in the USA lauded its success

and it didn’t involve popping a pill of any kind –

would you try it? Surely you’d have to be mad not

to give it a try, given that if all those stress

hormones continue to course through your body

unchecked, you are storing up a high percentage

chance of illness.

Now what if we told you that it was really simple

to incorporate into your busy day and was really

easy to do? It should be sounding better and

better all the time but what if we were to add that

it is totally, completely and utterly free of charge -

are you biting our hand off to let you in on this

amazing secret yet? Finally, what if you and your

kids could sit down and do this together, knowing

that you were teaching them an invaluable life

skill that would stand them in good stead through

the turmoil’s of life?

So, drum roll……. this amazing scientifically

proven yet free super stress buster is: Meditation!

Before you switch off , stop reading and turn the

page, imagining flower power hippy chicks

pronouncing free love and mind altering drugs

thrown in for good measure let us assure you that

ALL OF US HERE MEDITATE!

And I am not sure how many of us can truly place

ourselves in the hippy chick category but we

meditate because we know that we’d be mad not

too, because we have done our research, we

have tried it on ourselves and we know from hard

won experience that it simply works.

We find the time to take a mere thirty minutes out

of our busy days to spend in quiet contemplation

because we feel so positively different when we

do. This is because during meditation is the only

time the brain enters a specific brainwave pattern

that offers a busy mind some serious ‘downtime’

to replenish itself.

Buddhist monks of course have known this for

thousands of years and there are accounts of

much practiced masters slowing down their own

heartbeat to be almost barely alive, such is the

power of our amazing and incredible mind.

However, there is a misconception that meditation

is difficult to do and after all, who in today’s

modern world can really ever switch their brain off

and think of nothing? We grant you, what you get

out depends upon the attitude you go in with, and

if your expectations the first time you sit in

meditation is to achieve nothingness of thought,

then of course you will be highly disappointed.

There are a myriad of ways to meditate, so

experiment to find the way for you.

The trick with meditation is, just like anything new,

to keep practicing and be gentle with yourself.

However with benefits according to a John

Hopkins University study published in January this

year like "meditation appeared to provide asmuch relief from some anxiety and depressionsymptoms as … antidepressants" what’s to

lose?

Indeed our children will be taught these

techniques as part of the school curriculum if

already breathing, aware of the rise and fall ofyour chest, acceptance and gentlenessalways. When aware of thoughts, accept andlet them drift away whilst returning to yourbody and awareness of your breathing.

Start for 10 minutes a day and build this up alittle more each time until you reach 30minutes. Mindfulness meditation is not aboutstopping thinking – it is about beingconsciously aware of what we are thinking, consciously aware of the feel of our body andhow we are breathing, of gently being awareof how we are feeling.

Notice your breath, not changing yourbreathing, simply mindful of how you are

government ministers agree, such is theoverwhelming positive evidence of thebenefits of meditation.

Mindfulness meditation is not about gettingus to be different from how we already are;instead we become aware of what is alreadytrue moment by moment. We become‘unconditionally present’ consciously awareand present with whatever is happening to us,good or bad. Buddha taught that the sourceof suffering is our attempt to escape from ourdirect experience, rather than face it, embraceit and deal with it. monumental libidinal energies are liberated. Those

times are replete with paradoxical themes – the

burgeoning anticipation of birth, coupled with the

anxiety of overwhelming body splitting pain; the

euphoria of love that comes with cradling the

nascent infant and the knowingness that your life

(and body) will never again be the same; the hope

that comes with projecting into the future and the

fear that life will continue to unfold in the way that

always has. Tension and its companion, release,

As the Veil thins and through this ‘Tempest of

Transition’, lights have always shone brightly, as

standing), producing work that has heralded

quantum shifts within our human consciousness -

Astrology

As our world, embedded within the vast cosmic

ocean, continues to reel and rout as the sea roars

and thunders amidst the increasingly turbulent

waters of the Cardinal T-Square, the Arian lunation

of 2014 could be the voice of the ship’s skipper

coming over the speaker calming our frazzled

nerves and anxiety as we attempt to reach the

solid haven of a new world.

The spiritual traditions refer to several planes of

simultaneous existence – the lower planes

express more of the matter dimension and are

therefore more "material", and the higher planes

express more of the energy aspect and are

therefore more "subtle". Each plane is separated

by a thin veil, which once penetrated gives you

access to another realm, or state of Being. The

material world comes forth from these spiritual

realms and the outer most manifestation of our

universe is that of Fire.

Throughout history there have been times when

the Veil between the spiritual and the physical has

thinned; times wherein we, as a collective,

experience pressures to seismically regenerate as

Andrew Smith talksAstrology like youmay never haveheard it before -here’s to Aries

Dante’s Divine Comedy; Machiavelli’s The Prince;

Shakespeare first publication; Marx’s Communist

Manifesto; Coelho’s The Alchemist; Mary

Wollstonecraft’s Vindication of Rights of Woman;

and George Orwell’s 1984 to cite but a few.

We are living through one such time. The Veil is

so thin at the moment and our world is not the

same. Moreover, your world is no longer the

same! Both are experiencing massive changes,

penetrating all levels of reality – personal, social,

cultural and environmental. Now is not the time to

maintain the thought forms that defined the

previous way of being. Those methods simply do

not work anymore – be they the limitations of the

logical positivist methodology of the material and

economic sciences or the codification of a

hierarchical misogyny within the monotheistic

religious traditions - never in recorded history has

there been a level of awareness that the system

simply is not working!

What that new system looks and feels like is up to

you. We are living through the birthing a new way

of viewing life. We are witnessing tumultuous

clashes between the Old and the New as

‘dissenters’ rise up against their ‘feudal lords’, as

those in power fervently tighten their grip on the

reins of their ailing dinosaur, knowing that the

meteor is about to strike. But how can you coax

this change into your world?

AstrologyRise in the morning with the spirit you had

without thought and without concern for the

outcome, since you will find a way to make it

happen, irrespectively of the challenges and

disappointments. Think of any young children in

your life. Think, too, of what you were like when

you were an innocent child.

Within you there remains an enchanted place

where the colours are more luminous and the air

more fragrant than ever; a place where marvels

never cease; miracles and magic abound; and

where fascination and enthusiasm breed creation.

This place is called Aries.

This is the place within you wherein Spirit remains

embryonic and wherein you can live without

complexity, in simple honesty and awe. Yet,

maintaining this singular focus, or belief,

throughout your life is not easy.

Yet it is possible. Yes there are souls who are

born with an initiate sense of direct and honest

expression – those with Sun, Moon or their

Ascendant in Aries. Yes, there are those who

communicate openly; whose values are simple;

and whose energy is Tiger-like (Mercury, Venus

or Mars in Aries).

Have you ever been in the presence of someone

who utterly exudes a sense of being or a sense of

oneness with what they are doing; who has a

sense of complete immersion in and focus upon

the task at hand? Have you noticed how

enrapturing it is to be in this person’s presence? It

is as if their aura ensorcells all those around them

and thereby further enabling the manifestation of

their devotion, even if the inspirer is without a

notion of wilful egoic desire.

Try not to think of famous or historical people,

such as Jeanne d' Arc, Nelson Mandela or Aung

San Suu Kyi. Think of those people your path

has crossed over your life time, in ordinary,

everyday circumstances; those who are utterly

devoted to what they are doing – not questioning

and just living the path; or those who are totally

committed, even if at expense of their own well-

being.

Many people who are consumed by this fire are

invisible to both the media and the masses owing

to the fact that to be truly immersed with what

calls them means that they just are. When you

are in this state of being you simply act. You do.

You don’t talk about it. You don’t promote

yourself, ask people to write about what you are

doing, and you don’t sit and over analyse the pros

and cons about it, or think about whether it is

going to make you money and successful. In this

state of being you simple are. So deeply infused

with spirit and passion, you are prompted to act,

“If we are to teach real peacein this world, and if we are tocarry on a real war againstwar, we shall have to begin

with the children.”Gandhi

PAGE 28

Page 29: April 2014 issue

However, regardless of whether your Path is one

to actively experience this dimension, it is one of

the twelve spiritual paths that exist within you.

This path, known as the path of Initiatory Spirit, is

what astrologers call Aries and it simply is a path,

like that of a child’s, that pronounces a willingness

to courageously bear the light and express love

without any doubt or fear. A child simply is.

His/ her imagination is immanent and real, not

something into which they escape. He/ she lives

completely in the now. They do not worry. Their

minds are not full of “what if” questions. They are

true scientists continually asking What? Why?

And How?! They are fuelled by enthusiasm and

wonder. They live in joy because they only do

what they love to do. They are the ultimately

spiritual beings because they are in the continual

act of creation through their own creativity.

By likening the Arian consciousness to that of a

child, I am potentially incurring the wrath of my

wife, Karen and countless other Arian souls. But

to change your world you need to invoke the child

within you. The 2014 Cardinal Fire lunation is

portal through which you can pass into an

adventure of a more conscious life. With the

alignment of the Lights to Uranus and squaring

both Pluto and Jupiter, you have an opportunity to

change fundamentally old and well grooved

patterns, replenishing them with your authentic

self, that 4 year old within, that lived life free from

worry, stress and only did things that he/ she

loved – the 4 year old that demonstrated the Aries

within.

Remember the child within you. Remember what

you loved/ love. When you focus on what you love

to do, you will worry less simply because you are

in a state of joy. And when you worry less, you

are free to take action. Moreover, if you genuinely

believe that you cannot move consciously onto

your authentic path, find some way to make your

existing path fun and enjoyable. Even though

there may be days when you feel that facing the

day with the spirit of a child is impossible; it is one

of those challenges that when faced head-on –

you will reap rewards beyond your wildest

dreams!

So this coming Arian lunation display that spirit of

eagerness and adventure which will allow you to

create absolute miracles in what you achieve;

allow yourself to play; to take risks; to abandon

any fears and doubts; and your greatest thrill will

be when you learn that you can develop a 'habit'

of rising in the morning and facing each day with

a child-like spirit!

If I have prepared your birth chart for you already

and you are interested in gaining an objective

insight into the arena of your birth chart, therefore

life, that will be ‘triggered’ by this lunation, please

locate the Arian New Moon in your chart.

If you want to tune into your body awareness and

intuition concerning what passions are growing

within you, feel free to do so, as your own

intelligence will guide you as to what you need to

centre yourself on this coming month.

If you are feeling unwell the last thing you really

want to do is wrap yourself up and find a way to

get yourself to your doctors surgery. Once there,

you face an often agonising wait in a crowded

waiting room all the time wishing you were tucked

up in bed. That is if you can even get an

appointment to see your GP within a reasonable

time frame, which if you are in the UK can often

prove very difficult.

However, what if you could telephone a free

phone number, speak to a trained nurse and be

given an appointment time within a couple of

hours of your call to log-in via your computer for a

webcam chat with your doctor? What if, following

that webcam consultation your doctor writes you

an electronic prescription, which is immediately

sent to a central pharmacy that packs and sends

the drugs to you by regular mail which you receive

the next day?

Or what if you simply needed to speak to your GP

to change your meds but couldn’t afford to take

time off work to go sit in the surgery? What if you

could talk to your doctor via a webcam wherever

you may be and once again, as if by magic your

new pills arrive the next day to your home?

Sound too good to be true? Don’t be fooled,

private healthcare giant AXA PPP have just begun

a four month trial of this service that ends in July

2014, with a selection of their membership base

and whilst this is currently a service for private

healthcare holders, it could hold the key to solving

many problems for the NHS, not least less cost to

the overburdened state health services.

Another plus for doctors is because they are

conversing with you over the Internet, they can

quickly pull up diagrams and even 3D state of the

art medical images to help you understand more

about your condition, as these will display on your

console at your end of the connection. Your

doctor could send you the hyperlinks to further

reading or other supplements he recommends,

plus, because it is face to face online via

webcams, you can point to where it hurts and the

doctor can see it!

The potential benefits for patients are endless and

the likely savings to cash strapped and over

stretched national health services are immense.

Your GP surgery would never close and would

finally join the 24/7 society of our modern world.

Pensioners wouldn’t need to take the bus to the

surgery, indeed the need for large premises for

your GP surgery would significantly diminish,

reducing still further expenditure for the NHS.

What about if I need my blood pressure taken?

Or my heart rate checked, you ask? Given the

relentless march forwards of ‘wearable

technology’, you could simply push a button on

your tech and that information would be sent

wirelessly to your GP during your consultation.

Very soon there literally will be ‘an App for that!’

There will be some conditions that inevitably

require a physical examination, but by embracing

technology in this way, not only will many more

people get a consultation faster, but the savings

achievable for the NHS would allow for more

capital investment at specialist facilities and

hospitals.

Imagine the difference it would make when

referred to a specialist. Embracing this

technology would surely positively impact the

environment too, as how many car, train and

bus journeys would be avoided by doctors

and patients alike? The knock on effect

could be improved care for the elderly and

vulnerable who may struggle to physical

make it to their GP surgery.

With an internet connection and a PC nurses

could check-in with the elderly, new mums or

those in the system who are being cared for

in the community and raise red flags with

social services and if needed a paramedic

more rapidly. It is tempting to imagine how

GP surgeries could be revolutionised for the

benefit of patients offering increased patient

care through embracing this technology. It

will be interesting to see how the AXA PPP

four month trial develops but we could be

witnessing the beginning of the new age of

medicine.

Bill Hammett is retired but a keen vegetable gardener & childrens bookauthor, here he gives us his invaluable tips for April

still benefit from all the joys that growing your own

brings.

The companion method befits organic gardening,

as it’s ethos is to use flowers to ward off pests,

eliminating the need for chemical pesticides, and

you could say my wife and I get the best of both

worlds, growing her flowers and my vegetables

side by side.

When you start out for the first time, one of the

easiest plants to grow is the good old tomato.

Plant your tomato seedling in the centre of a

300mm pot, and place a stake in the pot to

support it as it grows. Next, stick a band of copper

tape about half way up the outside of the pot

which because slugs and snails don’t like copper

forms a barrier that will stop them from getting to

your precious plants from ground level.

Beware though, as tenacious slugs and snails will

climb the pot to the point of the copper and reach

across to any foliage that hangs below the level of

the copper tape, essentially offering them a bridge

to your precious plant. Sadly, slug and snail

Growing

Gardening can be very therapeutic, it relaxes the

mind, is good exercise and it gets you out in the

open air, which in our modern lifestyle can be very

precious. As well as interacting with nature, again

something that our psyche needs but often gets

little of in today’s chair and office bound working

life, it allows you to grow food organically meaning

less toxins and pesticides being consumed by you

and your family, is eco friendly as your food

travels less miles to get to you, and saves you

money at the supermarket!

Here, keen amateur Bill, gives us the first in a

series of hints, tips and advice for growing your

own, healthy and nutritious fruit and vegetables.

As an amateur vegetable gardener I like to grow

my vegetables as organically as possible using

what’s known as the “companion gardening”

method. All my vegetables (except runner beans)

are grown in containers as I have a small garden,

the majority of which my wife uses to grow

flowers. Container gardening calls for an

innovative use of space and means that even if

you only have a small patio or window-sill you canPAGE 34

Page 35: April 2014 issue

natural predators including bird’s such as the song thrush

and frog’s and hedgehogs are being poisoned by the use of

chemical slug pellets and so are in serious decline. Through

companion gardening without chemicals you will also offer a

friendly environment for these invaluable predators who will

help you get rid of the unwanted critters.

Next plant some marigolds around the outer rim of the pot

which serves several purposes. Marigolds attract bees and

hoverfly which are good for pollination (essential for the

plant growing any fruit) and as we all know, the common

honey bee is under threat so needs as much help as we

can give to sustain them. Marigolds also emit an odour that

repel green and black fly but because you are gardening

organically, you will entice ladybirds (also in decline) into

your garden to pick up any straggling flies.

Should green and black fly take hold, I spray once or twice

with soapy water, this normally does the trick. Finally grow

a couple of early lettuces between the marigold and the

tomato’s that will crop whilst you are waiting for your tomato

plant to climb the support and the marigold to fill out and

flower.

Tomatoes also work well grown in a half round basket hung

on a wall but whatever tomatoes you intend to grow this

season, the seeds should be planted no later than the end

of April in the Northern hemisphere. In my own pots, I

always grow these two varieties Money Maker, and

Gardeners Delight for good yield and taste factor.

Sow your lettuce and tomato seeds as per packet

instructions, and for true organic gardening try to find

organic seeds, this means that the seeds haven’t been

treated with any chemicals and are from chemical free

plants.

When your seeds are large enough to handle (for tomatoes

when the first pair of leaves are about 25 mm long and the

main stem is just showing between them), fill a 75 mm pot

with soil, make a hole with a pencil large enough to receivePAGE 35

Photograph Dwight Sipler

Page 36: April 2014 issue

the seedling plant. Lift your tomato seedling with

your pencil by pushing it into the soil beside it,

take hold of a leaf and gently ease the seedling

from the tray with the pencil but whatever you do

don’t pull on the seedling, only use the leaf to

carry it to its new home! Lower the roots of the

seedling into the hole in the pot and gently push

them down until the stem of the tomato is just

below the soil level. Then gently firm in the soil

round it, and water in.

For lettuce you will need to stagger the seed

planting to give you an on-going crop. There are

two methods I use to harvest lettuces, the first is

to pick when the entire lettuce plant is ready ie

when the hearts have filled out. Alternatively, the

method I prefer is to harvest only the outer leaves

from three or four plants when the leaves are

about 225 to 300mm long. Wash them and put

them straight into a salad or sandwich.

This method increases the productive life of the

plant as the rest of the leaves still on the growing

plant continue to grow for an on-going harvest. On

half a dozen plants I can take leaves almost every

day for four to six weeks and Lettuce doesn’t

come any fresher or tastier.

If you carry out what is known as succession

sowing (spacing out the initial seed planting over

weeks by sowing new seeds each time you

transplant your seedlings) you can get a

continual supply of fresh lettuce right up until the

first frost.

Marigolds can be transplanted to their final spot

when large enough and don’t worry if you think

you have sown too many as they are good

companions with many other vegetables and

flowers.

The only fungicide I use as a very last resort is

Bordeaux mix which is used for treating tomato

and potato blight. Tomato and potato blight must

be caught early otherwise the entire crop is lost.

Blight is a disease that is contracted by spores

that live in the soil and the first sign is dark brown

spots on the stems and leaves of the tomato that

rapidly expand and if left unchecked will cause

the plant to die back.

At the first sign of blight, immediately remove the

leaves that are affected and put them on a fire

(do not compost them as household composts do

not get hot enough to kill the bacteria). For the

infected part of the stems paint with a very week

solution of Bordeaux mix but if this doesn’t check

the spread of it on the affected plant within two

days, remove the entire plant and again, burn it

PAGE 36

“This methodincreases the

productive life ofthe plant”

Page 37: April 2014 issue

“Simply don a pairof good gardening

gloves and goforaging”

as you do not want this infecting your own

compost.

One tip: I try not to get the leaves of my tomatoes

wet as I water them as it is my belief that it adds to

the chance of the plant getting blight, plus in hot

weather the leaves can also burn.

As for fertiliser I use only organic matter and

organic based liquid fertilisers (a wormery is a

good investment). I like to make my own, it’s

known as nettle tea.

Simply don a good pair of gardening gloves, take

a bag and go foraging. You want fairly new

leaves, you don’t want seeds and roots. Back in

your garden, take a bucket and tip the leaves and

stalks in. With shears chop the leaves up until

they are quite fine, this helps them to brake down

and ferment quicker. Add about 25 litres of water,

cover and leave for a fortnight, stirring every

couple of days. Beware though it smells putrid but

it’s worthwhile and your plants will love you for it.

Two week later you should have a coating of dregs

on the surface, skim these off with a trowel and add

to the compost bin. Then, filter the liquid off into

another bucket and your nettle tea fertiliser is ready

for use. Decant to old soda bottles and use to feed.

Add about 1 part nettle tea liquid to 10 parts water

in your watering can. Feed plants when first

flowers appear and then twice weekly and

remember it is very important not to let the soil in

your pot’s dry out too much.

However, it is just as important to not over water

and finding the happy medium only comes with

experience. Aim to water early in the morning, or in

the evening, sometimes both depending how warm

the day is and remember – never water in full

midday sun. Enjoy your tomatoes and lettuces;

you can’t beat the taste of freshly picked, home

grown!

EFT is the acronym for Emotional Freedom Technique, also

known as ‘Tapping’ and it draws on the effect of

acupuncture. It is gaining scientific recognition and studies

have shown that tapping on specific acupuncture points is

as effective, if not more so, than inserting needles.

Plus EFT can be applied to many issues including Pain,

Anger, Cravings, and Depression as well as many other long

term conditions because EFT addresses the emotions

associated with any of these conditions and the disruption to

the energy meridians. Whilst tapping and focusing on what

is bothering us, we find we can have those thoughts but

without the anxiety attached to it and in turn allows us to let

go of that negative thought and bring in something more

empowering.

It is also perfect for our modern society as the results are

quick and you can, quite literally, tap anywhere, anytime!

Sat in the car at lunchtime, or on a park bench watching the

world go by. Obviously working with a qualified practitioner

will get the best results but try the exercise on the right the

next time you feel stressed, tapping with your fingers with

just enough pressure that you can feel it, but not so much as

to cause pain! Keep saying the affirmation, whilst tapping

the side of the hand, over and over until you feel better!

Our own EFT specialist LesleyParker explains how it’s possibleto tap away everything from foodcravings to pain and how long heldnegative emotions can be releasedthis way too….

According to the NHS 3.5 million people in the UK

are experiencing fertility issues, with 25-30% of

couples having unexplained infertility. In Australia

an estimated 15% of couples experience difficulty

conceiving and infertility issues affect over 7.3

million Americans.

Often, couples experiencing difficulties in falling

pregnant visit their Doctor after a few

unsuccessful months, only to be told if they are in

the UK that they need to have been ‘trying’ for

eighteen months to two years before any

investigations or treatments will be considered

and offered.

There are three traditional medical approaches

offered to those with fertility issues:

•              medicines to assist fertility

•              surgical procedures

•              assisted conception

The medicines used for diagnosed fertility

problems in women will stimulate egg production

and increase fertility in men or increase egg

numbers for harvest prior to IVF. Surgical

Hypnotherapist & NLPPractitioner Louise Joslin

MNLP, HPD, MNCH (Reg), CNCH(Reg) from the CAM FertilityCentre offers practical tips

to help optimise yourfertility naturally

Holistic Approach to Infertility

Page 45: April 2014 issue

Holistic Approach to Infertilityprocedures may be offered to help diagnose a

problem or rectify an anatomical one such as

blocked fallopian tubes, removal of fibroids or

endometriosis for women. Men may be offered

surgery to clear blockages or repair areas of the

epididymis, the tube that releases the sperm

whilst assisted conception includes intrauterine

insemination (IUI) and IVF.

These options may be suitable for many people

and can be invasive but it is possible to increase

fertility using a more natural approach. Treating

each couple individually and combining a number

of therapies including Homeopathy,

Hypnotherapy, Osteopathy, Nutrition and

Neshealth technology (looks at the physics

underlying the biochemical nature of the body),

enables alternative therapists to work in harmony

with a couple, and offer a powerful toolkit to bring

the minds, emotions and bodies of their clients to

an optimal state of health and well-being, thereby

optimising their natural conception.

Various published studies demonstrate the

effectiveness of individual mind/body treatment

programmes for infertility patients – these indicate

a significant increase in pregnancy rates and a

reduction in psychological distress. When the

effects of these treatments are combined, every

aspect of a client’s overall health can be improved

simultaneously.

I am Louise Joslin, a Hypnotherapist & Master

NLP Practitioner and whilst at a networking

meeting I met other therapists from different

disciplines and realised we all shared a passion

and special interest not just in natural health but

also a natural approach to fertility.

We joined our collective specialisms together to

form what we believe to be a unique concept in

this field. The CAM Fertility Centre Alliance &

Centre offer a variety of bespoke packages for

those who wish to increase their health generally

before trying for a baby, as well as those who

have been trying unsuccessfully to conceive, or

even for those who would just like to give birth as

naturally as possible. We work with both

undiagnosed and diagnosed fertility issues with

therapies which can also run alongside and

compliment conventional medical fertility

treatments such as IVF.

We are specifically looking for 5 couples able to

visit our centres in either Cambridgeshire or

London (UK) who are experiencing fertility

issues, you must be prepared to make major

diet and lifestyle changes if required, and

complete the fertility program (a minimum

commitment of 4-6 months treatment) for a

significantly reduced fee in return for taking part

anonymously with our marketing and

promotional materials. Contact us over the

page to join our initiative.

If you have Fibromyalgia then it is likely at least

once since being diagnosed a medical specialist

will have inferred that Fibro is all in your mind, or

at least you do not deal with stress well and this is

body's response.

It is a pattern that seemingly stretches back as far

as the medical profession itself, thirty years ago

Multiple Sclerosis sufferers were told the same

thing. Fifteen years ago women with

Endometriosis were told that they were being

wimps for not enduring their searing yet

apparently ‘normal’ pain.

The emotional trauma that this caused the people

suffering with these diseases is immeasurable

and life-long as even when a doctor finally

acknowledges that there is a very physical reason

for their agony, the mental scars linger. It appears

that the world of modern medicine never learns,

as finally Fibromyalgia sufferers can defiantly

wave the latest piece of medical research on the

subject at their so-called specialists and declare,

‘it is not psychosomatic, it’s very real.’

INTiDYN, (Integrated Tissue Dynamics) a biotech

company in the USA, working in conjunction with

Albany University published the findings of their

study last June (2013) in the journal Pain

Medicine, providing concrete proof that there is an

underlying physical cause of this debilitating

disease.

"Instead of being in the brain, the pathology

consists of excessive sensory nerve fibers around

specialized blood vessel structures located in the

palms of the hands," said Dr. Rice, President of

Intidyn and the senior researcher on the study.

"This discovery provides concrete evidence of a

fibromyalgia-specific pathology which can now be

used for diagnosing the disease, and as a novel

starting point for developing more effective

therapeutics."

The researchers were keen to point out that whilst

this is a major breakthrough, an effective

treatment or cure could still be more than a few

years away.

However, it does give Fibro sufferers the peace of

mind that their debilitating symptoms are not

merely figments of their excitable imagination.

When will the medical profession learn that the

vast majority of people are not attention seeking,

do not require sympathy for the sake of it, or are

not just lazy and trying to evade working? That

when we say we are intense pain, with unbearable

fatigue, we truly, honestly are!

I have always liked crystals. My mum is a healer

and my great grandmother was well known for her

healing powers too and this ability has passed

down to me.

Every crystal has its very own energy; it is why my

business is called Energy Crystals and why I

choose each crystal myself. If the energy doesn’t

feel right I won’t buy it! Each crystal must feel

clean and ‘right’.

Crystals can help restore strength and balance to

the body and mind, allowing our own natural

healing abilities to be awakened. It is a gentle

form of alternative healing and helps our well-

being, takes away negativity, and can lift

depression. For example, Rose Quartz is very

powerful for helping us love ourselves and those

around us, and it is why it is one of the most

popular crystals.

When healing, crystals are placed on certain parts

of the body to bring relief or can be swept over the

body, using crystal pendulum healing or crystal

wand healing.

I like using crystals to heal headaches. For

example, a tension headache can be relieved by

placing Amethyst, Amber or Turquoise on orIntroducing 6 year old EmmaBratton and her passion for CrystalHealing. Emma lives with her familyin Cambridgeshire UK and dictatedher article to her mum Jayne!

around the head. Lapis Lazuli can also be used

and has been for centuries to help treat migraines.

Another common reason for headaches is in an

imbalance between head energy and the solar

plexus chakra usually through stress or unsuitable

food. If you think stress might be the cause of

your headache or if you have a headache with an

upset stomach, healers use a stone that helps to

balance the solar plexus such as Citrine or

Moonstone.

PAGE 50

“It’s a gentle form ofalternative healing andhelps our well-being,takes away negativity

and can lift depression”

Page 51: April 2014 issue

Crystals can work very well also if you lack of

energy. Those suffering from this would use red,

orange and yellow crystals to bring an increase in

energy. The reason for this is that most

stimulating and dynamic crystals are those with

bright bold colours, like deep Red Garnet, Golden

Amber or Golden-yellow Topaz.

If you suffer with lack of sleep, crystals can also

be very powerful, however which crystal is needed

will depend on the cause of the sleeplessness. If

you believe that tension and worry are stopping

you from sleeping use a crystal such a Rose

Quartz, Citrine or Amethyst. You place the crystal

by the bed or under a pillow and this will calm and

sooth while you rest. However, if the lack of sleep

is from indigestion, Iron Pyrite or Moonstone can

relax the stomach. If nightmares are causing you

problems, protective stones such as Tourmaline

or Smoky Quartz should be placed at the foot of

the bed. Labradorite can aid sleep, as it is

believed to chase away any unwelcome feelings

and thoughts.

If you use crystals though, it is important to

cleanse it often to remove any negative energy

which builds up. There are many ways to do this.

You can bury the crystal underground for a night -

remembering where you buried it! Secondly you

can hold the crystal under running water. A

natural spring is best but a tap will work too, but

check the crystal is not water-soluble first before

cleansing this way. Another easy way is to use

crystals to clean other crystals, Clear Quartz has

PAGE 51

the ability to cleanse; or the vibrations from a pure

sound such as a bell, gong or tuning fork. I mainly

cleanse mine by leaving them on my window sill

for a few days so the sun and the moon can help

them recharge.

I love the power crystals have and that they look

so beautiful. Crystal jewellery is such an easy way

of enjoying the energy and healing powers. I have

such fun running Crystal Energy!
