Word for April: ShowersThis month’s weather
forecasts tend to include a lot of“showers.” Defined bywww.M-W.com as “a fall of rainof short duration,” thesespringtime storms leave many ofus singing, “Rain, rain, goaway.” However, becauseMother Nature bombards uswith downpours in April, she’llbe “showering” us with Mayflowers in no time.
Every Day Is Earth DayTogether, we can work toward
a cleaner, healthier environmentfor all.
Laugh It UpIn April, we celebrate
National Humor Month. A goodlaugh can help reduce stress, lower blood pressure, elevatemood, boost the immunesystem, and make you feel good.Studies also show that a goodsense of humor may helpprevent heart disease and heartattacks. Some ways to expandyour sense of humor include:look for absurd or silly activitiesthat go on around you each day, increase your exposure tocomedies and sitcoms, take afew minutes each day to readjoke or humor books, andremind yourself to have funevery day.

Remember Me?Born Joseph Frank Keaton,
Buster Keaton was a famous faceduring the silent movie era and
continued to work through thedawn of talkies. Like many silentfilm stars, Keaton began hiscareer in vaudeville.
His family’s vaudeville actwas notable as one routineinvolved Buster being throwninto the audience. Buster wasnever hurt. In fact, he was oftenlaughing as he was tossedaround. After realizing thisweakened the joke, he adoptedhis deadpan expression, earninghim the moniker “GreatStoneface.”
His most famous film, “TheGeneral,” was a commercial andcritical flop when releasedin 1927. Over time, it hasbecome revered as one of thegreatest films ever made.
News & UpdatesThere’s always plenty going
on at every Emeritus SeniorLiving community, and we wantevery resident to feel included inthe action. You’ll find everythingyou need to know to stay in theloop in the News & Updatessection. Comfort StartsWith Shoes
Whether you’re buyingathletic shoes or purchasing apair to wear every day, here are a
few guidelines to follow:Have your feet measured. Foot
size increases with age. It isimportant to have both feetmeasured each time youpurchase shoes.
Make sure the fit is right. Justlike Cinderella, make sure theshoe fits. Try on both shoes andwalk around the store in them. There should be a one-half-inchspace between your longest toeand the end of the shoe. Yourheels should not slip as youwalk in the shoes.
Shop later in the day. Feet havea tendency to swell during theday, so trying on shoes later inthe day allows you to find thebest fit.

We Won’t GetFooled Again
Every April Fools’ Day,inventive pranksters try to outdoeach other with large-scalehoaxes. Here are some of themore memorable ones, according to www.MuseumOfHoaxes.com:
Color me fooled. In 1962, a TVstation in Sweden announcedthat viewers could change thestation’s black and whitebroadcasts into instant color bypulling a nylon stocking overtheir TV screens. Thousands ofpeople fell for the trick.
Paint your puppy. In 1965, anewspaper in Copenhagenreported that the DanishParliament had passed a lawrequiring all dogs to be paintedwhite so drivers could spot themmore easily at night.
Tower tale. The Parisien, aFrench newspaper, shockedcitizens in 1986 when itreported that the Eiffel Towerwould be dismantled, movedand reconstructed in the Disneytheme park planned near Paris.
