Cuộc sống tin cậy của tổ phụ Abraham loan báo sự Phục sinh

Cuộc đời của tổ phụ Abraham không chỉ dậy cho chúng ta biết ngài là cha chúng ta trong lòng tin, mà cũng là cha chúng ta trong niềm hy vọng nữa. Vì các biến cố cuộc đời tổ phụ loan báo sự phục sinh và cuộc sống mới chiến thắng sự dữ và chính cái chết.

Đtc. Phanxicô đã nói như trên với hàng chục ngàn tín hữu và du khách hành hương tham dự buổi gặp gỡ chung sáng thứ tư 29-3-2017.

Niềm hy vọng của chúng ta không dựa trên các lý luận, dự trù và trấn an của con người; và nó được bầy tỏ ở nơi không còn có hy vọng nữa, ở nơi không còn gì để hy vọng, như xảy ra cho chính tổ phụ Abraham, trước cái chết gần kề của ông và trước việc không sinh sản của vợ là bà Sara. Đối với họ đó đã là kết thúc, họ đã không thể có con và trong tình trạng ấy, Abraham đã tin và đã hy vọng dù xem ra không còn lý do hy vọng.

Điều này thật lớn lao! Niềm hy vọng lớn lao đâm rễ trong đức tin, và chính vì thế nó có khả năng đi xa hơn mọi hy vọng. Phải, vì nó không dựa trên lời nói của chúng ta, nhưng dựa trên Lời của Thiên Chúa. Cả trong nghĩa này nữa, khi chúng ta được mời gọi noi gương tổ phụ Abraham, là người trước sự hiển nhiên của một thực tại xem ra phải chết, ông vẫn tín thác nơi Thiên Chúa, “hoàn toàn xác tín rằng những gì Ngài dã hứa Chúa cũng có thể đưa tới chỗ thành toàn” (Roma 4,21).

Tôi muốn hỏi anh chị em một câu: Chúng ta, tất cả chúng ta đây, có xác tín về điều này không? Chúng ta có xác tín rằng Thiên Chúa yêu chúng ta, và tất cả những gì Ngài đã hứa với chúng ta thì Ngài sẵn sàng đưa nó tới chỗ thành toàn không? “Nhưng mà thưa cha, chúng con phải trả giá thế nào cho điều đó?” Chúa trả lời: Có một giá: đó là hãy mở rộng con tim. Hãy rộng mở con tim anh chị em, và sức mạnh này của Thiên Chúa sẽ làm cho nó tiến tới, sẽ làm nên các điều kỳ diệu, và sẽ dậy cho anh chị em biết niềm hy vọng là gì. Đó là giá duy nhất phải trả: rộng mở con tim cho đức tin và Chúa sẽ làm mọi sự còn lại.

Đó chính là sự mâu thuẫn đồng thời là yếu tố mạnh mẽ nhất, cao cả nhất mà trên bình diện nhân loại, xem ra không chắc chắn và không thể tiên liệu, nhưng không suy giảm, kể cả trước cái chết, khi Đấng đã hứa là Thiên Chúa của sự Phục Sinh và sự sống. Đây là điều không phải bất cứ ai cũng hứa được đâu, không! Người hứa là Thiên Chúa của sự Phục Sinh và sự sống. – Theo Radio Vaticana

REJOICE AND BE GLAD "This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad" (Psalm 118:24). Let us remember that these words of today's responsorial psalm are not only sung from the hearts of those gathered in our parish. They are also sung by the poor in tiny barrios throughout Central and South America. They are sung by those denied religious freedom in our world; these Christians lift their voices in clandestine places of worship. These words are sung by people who have lost loved ones to acts of terrorism and war around the globe. Even in the midst of conflict and division, Christians still come together to declare that poverty, loneliness, violence, and division will never, ever have as much power as the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION Easter is nearly three weeks later this year than last. Why does the date wobble around the calendar so? The way of cal-culating the date was set by the Emperor Constantine in 325. The decision ended a very bitter controversy in the church. Some people wanted to synchronize the Pasch with Passover on the fourteenth day of the Jewish month Nissan, and their opponents wanted it after the Pass-over was complete, on the Sunday after the first full moon of springtime. The ecclesiastical rules do not exactly con-nect with the astronomical rules. The emperor squashed the hopes of the quartodecimans, as the fans of 14 Nissan were called, and chose Sunday. The tra-ditional rule is that Easter is the first Sunday after the first ecclesiastical full moon that occurs on or after the vernal equinox, the fourteenth day of the new moon, and later than March 21. Thus, Easter wobbles between March 22 and April 25. The actual tables and methods for com-puting the date are extraordinarily de-tailed, with subtle variations and mind-bending exceptions and charts with "golden numbers," "dominical letters," and "epacts" measuring leap years. In 1954 and 1962 the ecclesiastical calcula-tions actually overrode the astronomical new moons and bumped Easter back a month! TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE Hace 3,000 años los chinos pintaban huevos de pato para celebrar la pri-mavera. Los egipcios pintaban huevos en honor de la diosa Ishtar, mientras ingleses y alemanes lo hacían para cele-brar al sol. Eventualmente la práctica continuó en honor de la resurrección de Cristo. La costumbre de esconder huevos hervidos y pintados ha tomado nueva vida entre los mexicamericanos. Cada Cuaresma mi mamá solía guardar los cascarones de los huevos que nos comíamos. Recuerdo con alegría la cos-tumbre de colorear los cascarones el Sábado de Gloria para que la coneja nos los escondiera para la Pascua. Al día siguiente, después de Misa nos re-uníamos a buscar cascarones y romper-los sobre la cabeza de quien se arrimara, para bañarlos con el confeti multicolor. La costumbre de celebrar la Pascua con cascarones decorados es una bella tradición. Esta costumbre muestra que todas las naciones pueden agregar a la Iglesia cristiana tradiciones propias de su cultura, ya que Jesucristo dio su vida por todas ellas.
