EASTER SUNDAY RESURRECTION OF THE LORD April 16, 2017

The Lord is truly risen, alleluia. To him be glory and power for all the ages of eternity, alleluia, alleluia. He is resin, indeed!!

Brief Reflection: Alleluia! Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, has risen – let us rejoice and be glad. Today, and for the next fifty days, we will celebrate and rejoice in the triumph of Christ over the power of death. It is our primary and foundational Chris-tian feast. Through it, the course of human history is changed forever as Christ has, in the words of the Exsultet, broken “the prison-bars of death and rose victorious from the underworld.”

Grade School FAITH FORMATION Dear Families, the time for students preparing to receive First Holy Communion is approaching rapidly. It is vital for you and your children to go to Mass regularly and for you to give them the good example of honoring God in Holy Mass, faithfully. It is also vital that they attend the remaining faith formation classes for the year. Below is the remaining class schedule this year. Please work on First Communion Banners! They received instructions at Class, March 15th. In the years 1916 and 1917, through the tutelage of an angel and the Blessed Mother, two young children were led to holiness in just a few short years. That tutoring began in the spring of 1916 with three visitations of the Guardian Angel of Portugal, apparitions which served as preparation for the visits the following year of the Mother of God. In the year 1917, in a mountainous region at the center of Portugal, the Mother of God appeared six times to three young children. Elsewhere on the continent the “Great War” raged, that would cost Europe an entire generation, over 37 million lives. Besides sending her own sons to die (in France and North Africa) Portugal was in political chaos at home.

We will celebrate Mass here at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, May 13 2017, at 9 am and again on the first Saturday’s of the month in August, September and October.

— ENCOUNTER THE RISEN CHRIST: We prayed, fasted and gave alms—and now we celebrate Easter joy! Our Lenten journey with CRS Rice Bowl ends as we encounter our risen Lord. We reflect on our brothers and sisters whom we have walked with in India, Zambia, El Salvador, Mexico, Ethiopia and Hawaii. And we commit to bring Easter joy to each person we meet in our daily lives. It’s time to turn those rice bowls!!
