Para nós, esta é uma edição especial não só por ser a última do ano, mas também porque vai circular durante o 40º Congresso Brasileiro de Ortopedia,o 40º CBOTchê.

O Porto Alegre Convention & Visitors Bureau uniu-se aos esforços da sociedade de Ortopedia do rio grande do sul em trazer este evento para cá, por compreender a sua importância e confiar que a capital gaúcha oferece as melhores condições de infra-estrutura e serviços para muito bem receber os aproximadamente oito mil visitantes que aqui estarão. desses, mais de seis mil são médicos vindos de toda América Latina.

Considered one of the symbols of Porto Alegre, the Guaíba Bridge, which will be 50 years old in December, is an invitation for visitors to enjoy the city’s sunset. Porto Alegre vai ser a capital latino-americana da ortopedia durante os dias 13, 14 e 15 de novembro, quando se realiza o 40º Congresso Brasileiro de Ortopedia, cuja sigla oficial é 40º CBOTchê, no prédio da Fiergs.


Capital gaúcha sedia um dos maiores eventos de ortopedia do mundo

Ao todo, o 40º CBOTchê irá mobilizar oito mil pessoas: seis mil são os especialistas inscritos, mil vão trabalhar para os 105 expositores e outras mil na estrutura. Além delas, há mais de 100 palestrantes nacionais e internacionais. É o maior evento de ortopedia da América Latina, que desde 1956 não se realizava na capital gaúcha.

O retorno foi possível depois de uma disputa com Brasília, Curitiba e salvador, o que já comprova a importância do encontro, que teve no comando da frente gaúcha o médico Osvandré Lech – presidente do 40º CBOTchê – pela sociedade de Ortopedia do rio grande do sul e apoio do Porto Alegre Convention & Visitors Bureau

A programação é extensa, com 25 conferencistas internacionais, aproximadamente 500 palestras, apresentação de 127 trabalhos científicos,

mas o meio ambiente é o assunto que permeará todos os debates. “É a nossa bandeira não-ortopédica”, diz Lech. Para comprovar esse compromisso, acrescenta, “teremos várias ações de proteção ao meio ambiente no CBOTchê”. Uma é um prêmio de r$ 5 mil para a empresa expositora que apresentar trabalhos e ações “que melhor caracterizarem a proteção ambiental”, explica. Outra é a distribuição de dois livretos sobre o assunto. A terceira é a exibição, durante o Congresso, do filme “surfando nas montanhas do himalaia”. A quarta é o plantio de uma quantidade de árvores que neutralizem a emissão de carbono gerada pelo Congresso.

“Temos problemas para resolver em nossa profissão. mas são irrelevantes quando se comparam a medidas corretas que temos que tomar para proteger o meio ambiente”, explica Lech.

Porto Alegre will be the Brazilian orthopedics capital on November 13, 14 and 15, during the organization of the 40th Brazilian Orthopedics Congress, officially known as 40º CBOTchê, in the Fiergs building.

URUGUAI

O Uruguai é a nação homenageada. Lá existem 180 ortopedistas, a metade dos profissionais existentes em Porto Alegre, e 100 estarão no Congresso. Eles vêm em busca de inovação e será importante trocar experiências.

CENAS DO SUL

O rio grande do sul ficará mais conhecido ainda. A Praça de Alimentação terá espaço reservado ao CTg Tropel do Campeiros, de Passo Fundo, cidade de Osvandré Lech, que servirá chimarrão e mostrará a cultura tradicional. Além disso, cada palestrante receberá um exemplar do livro Cenas do sul, com fotos da vida no campo gaúcho feitas pelo médico Luís Fernando Weber e textos de Lech. No pavilhão de exposições da Fiergs, haverá estandes para venda de artigos produzidos no Estado.

FESTAS

Um momento de descontração imperdível é a “festa das etnias”, “uma homenagem às colonizações alemã e italiana”, conta Osvandré. Além disso, haverá um sorteio de dois automóveis entre os participantes do CBOTchê.


The 40º CBOTchê will involve a total of 8000 people: 6000 of these are the specialists attending the event, 1000 will be working for the 105 exhibitors and another 1000 will be involved in the event’s organization. There will also be more than 100 national and international speakers. This is the biggest orthopedics event in Latin America and has not been held in the rio grande do sul capital since 1956.

The wide-ranging program includes 25 international speakers, approximately 500 lectures and the presentation of 127 scientific studies, but permeating all the debates will be the issue of the environment. “That’s our non-orthopedic banner,” says Lech. As proof of this commitment he adds, “We will be having several environmental protection actions at the CBOTchê”. One of these is a 5000-real prize for the exhibiting company presenting projects and actions “which best characterize environmental protection,” he explains. Another will be the distribution of two leaflets on the subject. The third will be a showing of the film “surfando nas montanhas do himalaia” during the Congress. The fourth will be the planting of a number of trees to neutralize the carbon emissions generated by the Congress.

“We have problems to resolve in our profession. But they are irrelevant when you compare them with the right measures we have to take for protecting the environment,” explains Lech.

URUGUAY

Uruguay is the country of honor. it contains 180 orthopedic practitioners, half the number of those in Porto Alegre, and 100 will be attending the congress. They are coming in search of new approaches and important opportunities for exchanging experiences.

SCENES OF THE SOUTH

rio grande do sul will become even better known. The Food Area will have a space reserved for the Tropel do Campeiros CTg, from Passo Fundo, Osvandré Lech’s hometown, which will be serving chimarrão and displaying the traditional culture. Each speaker will also be given a copy of the book entitled Cenas do sul, with photos of life in the gaúcho countryside taken by dr. Luís Fernando Weber and texts by dr. Lech. The Fiergs exhibition hall will have stands selling articles produced in the state.

FESTIVITIES

One unmissable relaxation event is the “ethnic groups festival”, which is “a tribute to the german and italian colonization,” says Osvandré. A draw will also be held for two cars, open to CBOTchê participants.

Queremos mostrar que este é mais um item com que o ortopedista tem que se envolver, além de pensar em lesões ósseas, traumatologias, joelhos, quadris ou pés. Cabe cui-dar dos seus pacientes, mas cabe também ao ortopedista cuidar da água, não usar plásticos para embalagens, etc. Não vamos entregar uma pasta de plástico com o mate-rial do congresso, mas uma sacola de algodão. Fizemos contatos com a Fundação zoobotânica e ela vai distribuir sementes e folhetos entre os participantes. E uma ONg vai ter espaço no pavilhão para mostrar seu trabalho com o meio ambiente.

EsTA É UmA OPOrTUNidAdE PArA mOsTrAr O riO grANdE dO sUL AO rEsTANTE dA AmÉriCA?

sim. O motivo principal é debater a ortopedia. mas é tam-bém um excelente momento para mostrar a nossa cultura, nossa história. É, igualmente, uma grande oportunidade de negócios para o rio grande do sul. Virão em torno de oito mil pessoas. E cada mil pessoas que fazem turismo deixam em média um milhão de dólares numa cidade.

Todas as vagas de hotéis estão lotadas. Vai ser muito bom para Porto Alegre.

PArA ENCErrAr, O QUE mAis O sENhOr dEsTACA-riA?

Os outros dois itens pelos quais eu gostaria que o 40º CBOTchê fosse lembrado são a discussão sobre Conflito de interesse, que aborda o avanço científico com ética, e um encontro de busca de harmonia, entendimento entre todos e integração nacional. Também gostaria de destacar que o 40º CBOTchê é resultado do trabalho de uma equipe grande e muito competente. Não posso deixar de citar e agradecer ao presidente da sBOT (sociedade Brasileira de Ortopedia e Traumatologia), Tarcísio Eloy P. Barros Filho, e aos integrantes da Comissão Executiva gaúcha: Antônio Balestrin, Carlos schwartsmann, Fábio dal molin, Fábio Krebs, Jaime Wageck, Jaison Bochernitsan, Luiz r. marczyk, marcelo guerra, Paulo Piccoli, ricardo K. de Oliveira e sérgio zylbersztjn.

WiLL ThE ENVirONmENTAL ThEmE mAKE OrThOPEdiC PrACTiTiONErs BETTEr KNOWN iN sOCiETy?

We want to show that this is one more issue which orthopedic practitioners had to be involved in, beyond thinking about lesions, bones, trauma, knees, hips or feet. Orthopedic practitioners have to look after their patients, but they also have to look after water, not using plastics and packaging, etc. We won’t be handing out a plastic folder with congress material, but a cotton bag instead. We’ve made contact with zoo-botanical Foundation and it will be distributing seeds and leaflets to participants. And there will be space in the hall for an NgO to display its environmental work.

is This AN OPPOrTUNiTy FOr shOWiNg riO grANdE dO sUL TO ThE rEsT OF AmEriCA?

yes. The main function is to discuss orthopedics. But it’s also an excellent opportunity to show our culture, our history. it is also a great opportunity for trade in rio grande do sul. Around 8000 people will be coming. And each 1000 people engaged in tourism leave around $1 million in a city.

The president of the municipal historical and Cultural heritage Board, rita Chang, explains that there is a range of tour options, since “this region contains 80% of the city’s historical features.” she suggests beginning the tour at the Public market, a 100-year-old building with more than 100 shops, mostly selling food and typical articles from rio grande do sul, such as fish, cheese, wine, ice cream, mate tea and chimarrão gourds, and containing the oldest restaurant in the city.

Next to the market are the Town hall and the Talavera de La reina Fountain, the starting point of the city. Two blocks further on is the Praça da Alfândega, surrounded by buildings from the start of the 20th century, now transformed into museums with cultural exhibitions and presentations.

“We should not forget the Erico Veríssimo Cultural Centre, in the CEEE Foundation on rua dos Andradas, which puts on excellent exhibitions and has symphony Orchestra concerts at 18:00 on saturdays.”

Further historic buildings, such as the Public Library, Theatro são Pedro, the metropolitan Cathedral, and the Piratini Palace, can be found around the Praça da matriz in a higher part of the city.

That is without mentioning the churches and boat trips. As rita says, “These are just some of the attractions that visitors may find, together with a welcoming population which, if they are drinking mate tea, will certainly offer a taste.”

Anyone visiting the central district of the Rio Grande do sul capital will find buildings from different periods of the city’s 236 years. This architectural wealth has led to the name of the district being changed to the historical Center of Porto Alegre, and it is now being fully restored through public and private projects.
