WHAT WE ARE ABOUT
The Volkswagen Racing Cup is the longest-running, best supported manufacturer-backed saloon car championship in the UK.
And it’s no wonder. With strong grids, a great calendar, close racing and an exciting and varied range of cars competing, drivers, fans and sponsors alike all get a lot from the Volkswagen Racing Cup.
Many of our drivers have stayed with us for many years; others have progressed to Touring Cars, Carrera Cup, GTs and other higher formulae.
For 2013 the winning format continues. We are expecting full grids, so encourage all interested drivers to get their registration and race entries in quickly!
But, for us, it’s about enjoying our cars, our racing and the friends we make first and foremost.
We hope you will join us in 2013.
Please note that all details, dates and information given in this brochure are correct at the time of writing but are all liable to change before the start of the Championship.

WHAT CARS CAN RACE?▶ Open to ALL modern Volkswagen performance derivatives, in a single class▶ This is not a one-make, single specification control class▶ Performance balanced by power to weight calculations▶ MSA safety regs apply, and Volkswagen Racing Championship regs allow some freedom for teams/drivers▶ We expect high-standards of car presentation – modern, good-looking cars are very important to us

Volkswagen Racing hosts an Awards Dinner for competitors (teams and drivers) at which the season is celebrated and winners receive their awards for the championship.
The dinner is an informal evening which gives the whole Championship the chance to celebrate success together.

COSTS
► Entry Fees are between £525 and £600 per double-header round (to be confirmed)► One-off Registration Fee of £750 plus VAT► Tyre are Hankook slick and wet. Cost per tyre is £209 plus VAT. Many budget for two new per weekend.► Car and Team costs – from full ‘arrive and drive’ to self-run, these costs will depend on your approach► Travel – fuel for tow-vehicle, hotel, food for team► Fuel – race car fuel to cover your testing, qualifying and two twenty minute races per weekend► Damage and mechanical – hard to predict!► Very roughly – most drivers spend £30k plus per year to race seriously in the Volkswagen Racing Cup

GETTING A CAR
There are three options to get your race car:
Option 1 – Build your own▶ Do the work yourself, or commission a team▶ Your choice of car, specification, built to your requirements▶ Can be an expensive route!
Option 2 – Buy a second-hand car▶ Second-hand cars usually represent good value▶ Range of cars always for sale on our website:

Option 3 – Rent a car on an ‘Arrive and Drive’ basis▶ Professional teams will take the pressure off you for organisation,
and technical problems.▶ Good option for either a racing novice or an experienced racer!
‘Arrive and Drive’ is the perfect format that suits the many drivers who do not have either the time, facilities or technical expertise to run a racing car to the standard demanded by a modern race championships such as Volkswagen Racing Cup.
There are a number of our professional teams who provide an arrive and drive service dedicated to the Cup, with a range of competitive, professionally‐prepared Volkswagens. Guest drivers in our Championship over the past couple of years have been as varied as Touring Car drivers, absolute racing novices and well‐known journalists, but all taking part with the principle aim of enjoyment of the event.
Our teams seek to provide coaching and driver development to allow drivers to get the most out of their time behind the wheel. In short, it’s a great way to have an enjoyable season’s racing, make valuable contacts and friendships in the racing world, and to develop your driving talents without the time and capital outlay of doing it by yourself.
