AEAWA AWARDS
Hello members and friends Well, it is time for my last message as President of the Association.
It has been a very rewarding 2 years, with ups and downs but more than anything else I have felt very privileged to be part of a won-derful team of truly dedicated and caring peo-ple. No organisation thrives on the efforts of one person, no matter how hard they might try. For me, the best part about being Presi-dent of AEAWA has been working with the members of the management committee and sub-committees who have been unfailing with their support, encouragement and most
of all, advice. There are so many people to thank that I could take up a whole newsletter in doing so! However, you all know who you are, and how I feel.
I would also like to thank all of you—the members of AEAWA—for your patience when things have not gone according to plan, and for the enthusiasm you have shown for our lunches, functions and special occasions. You make all the hard work worthwhile.
So I leave you with the hope that the Association continues to grow and flourish under the new President and Committee, and that the spirit of goodwill, tolerance, friendship and community will prevail. Have fun with AEAWA and take care of each other.
Heather ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What a fantastic Sunday lunch we had in March! Chad Beins and Alan Jupp got things off to a great start with Philip De Mello‘s Karaoke ma-chine and Alan‘s projector—and we certainly have some very talented singers.
Chad and his band of helpers did a wonderful job in organising the Eurasianlympics and we had 6 teams competing against each other. It was great to see little ones, Mums, Dads and grandparents all sharing a fun day. Congratulations to all the participants, organisers and helpers. The afternoon ended with prize giving and a sausage sizzle. We are looking forward to making this an annual event.
Don‘t forget that the April lunch on 11th is our Annual General Meeting for members only. Please come along and support your Association in the decision-making process. Don‘t forget to let Daisy Westerhout know if you are attending so that we can make sure we cater for everyone.
Don‘t forget to check out our website—www.aeawa.asn.au. See you at the AGM lunch.

AEAWA ANNUAL AWARDS
The Ida Da Silva Award for The Arts
Ida Da Silva was a founding member of AEAWA and devoted much of her time to continuing the traditions of Portuguese dancing and singing. Ida’s work is commemorated by this award made to a young mem-ber for achievement in any of the artistic fields.
The Andrew Clarke Award for Sport Andrew Clarke was famous for his sporting achievements especially on the Hockey field, and for his encouragement of young people in sport. Andrew is remembered each year by this award for sporting achievement.
The Ivan Richards Award for Community Service
We sadly lost Ivan last year, our oldest member at the time. We are pleased to remember his long record of service to the Community by this inaugural award. Unlike the other awards which are applied for, members can nominate another member based on their service to the community.

EURASIANLYMPICS!
Hello members…. I have great pleasure in reporting that the ―Eurasianlympics – Family and Friends Games Day‖ turned out to be a wonderful success! We managed to attract 6 teams of 5 members per team, comprising a good mix of men, women and younger members. The teams were made up of family members, friends/rellies or a combi-nation of the lot! There were 5 games played, Badminton, Soccer, Rounders, Chapteh and Table Tennis. The competition was intense and every participant gave their best effort to try to win the coveted prize of ‗Champion Team‘. The Trophy was eventually won by ―The Fellowship of the Beins‘s‖ (Team Red) with ―Family Feud‖ (Team Purple) coming in a very close second and Team Blue taking third place with only one point separating the top placings. Thanks to everyone who put in a huge effort helping out on the day in so many ways, it wouldn‘t have worked without you. Thanks for all the donations (prizes, equipment etc) it helped make the day a success. Thanks to everyone who participated, I hope you had lots of fun. Please go to our website and enjoy the many pictures taken. The laughter and smiles on the day made it all worth while. See you all again next year! Chad Beins Youth Coordinator
