Application Criteria• 55 credit hours (including current semester) towards

General Ed. requirements. Developmental courses (such as Math 07) don’t count

toward the 55 credits• EDUC-F200, SPCH-S121, ENG-W131, MATH-T101, all

completed with a “C” or better. “C-” doesn’t count• Completed, or be enrolled in, all Language Arts content

courses.• Overall GPA of at least 2.50 (no rounding up)• “C” or better in all L-Arts and Math content courses.• Passing score on Praxis 1 tests or alternatives

Application CriteriaSuccessful Completion of ONE course from the Social Studies Content Block (“D-” or higher)

Elementary:•ECON-E100, E150, or E101 (Economics) •GEOG-G201 (World Regional Geography)•SOC-R220 (The Family) •HIST-H105 or H106 (American History I or II) •POLS-Y103 (Introduction to American Politics) •HIST-H101

Special Education:•POLS-Y103, Y107, Y109 (Political Science)•HIST-H105, H106 (American History) or GEOG-G110 (Human Geo.)•SOC-S163 (Social Problems) or GEOG-G201 (World Reg. Geo.)

Application CriteriaSuccessful Completion of ONE course from the Science Content Block (“D-” or higher)

Elementary:•BIOL-L100 (Humans & the Biological World)

•CHEM-C104 (Physical Science & Society)

•GEOG-G107 (Physical Systems of the Environment)

Special Education:•BIOL-L100 (Humans & the Biological World) •CHEM-C104 (Physical Science & Society) or CHEM-C101 (Elementary Chemistry I)

NOTE: To complete program, one science course must include a lab; not needed to apply.

GPA and PRAXIS Scores

IU Southeast Elementary and Special Education

Program GPA requirement is 2.5 (between B- and C+)

Must maintain throughout program!

Must have attempted the Praxis I

(Passing Scores)

Math 175

Reading 176

Writing 172 PRAXIS 1 composite (total) at least 527

PRAXIS 1 Alternative ScoresMUST submit PRAXIS 1 score report or Alternatives

- May apply without and submit ASAP; but first come, first served, until cohort is full.

•ACT with a score of at least 24 based on Math, Reading, Grammar, and Science

•SAT with a score of at least 1100 based on Verbal and Math –

NOT “Writing” or sub-tests

•GRE with a score of at least 1100 based on Verbal and Quantitative

•Anyone with a Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution is exempt.

3. Attach copy of PRAXIS scores or alternatives

Application Deadline: OCTOBER 15, 2012

Getting AcceptedYOUR LETTER WILL INDICATE YOU ARE:

• FULLY ADMITTED• ADMISSION PENDING

Acceptance letters will be mailed out mid-November.

Field Experience in All Blocks

• About 80 hours in local schools

• It is MANDATORY for students to be available Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM!

Practica schedules will be set early in each semester

Sequence of Blocks

• Block 1 – Child as Learner

• Block 2 – The Literate Child

• Block 3 – Integration across the Curriculum

• Block 4 – Teaching in an Era of Accountability

Successful Completion of Program

1. Know your requirements!

2. Meet with faculty advisor each semester! The letter of acceptance will include your advisor’s name.
