Towson University is more than classes, papers and projects. It’s the place to decide what you want to be.

Find yourself in one of our more than 60 majors. If you can’t pick just one, you can take on a double major. The most popular majors at TU are business administration, psychology, mass communication, nursing and elementary education. What will yours be?

You don’t even have to know what you want to major in when you come to Towson. Many of our students don’t decide on a major until they take a class that excites them. Who knows? You may be an art history or biology major and just not know it yet!

Sure, you know what class is like in high school, but how about at Towson? Our students love the small class sizes—about 20 students per class—and appreciate the personal connections they get to make with their professors.

DISCOVERY O U R S E L F

Joey @ TU: 11:20 a.m.—TU has great programs. I’m majoring in communication AND marketing. Sweet!

Deon @ TU: 3:45 p.m.—Good day on Wall Street. Lucky I learned about investing in my finance classes at TU... it’s starting to pay off!

Corinne @ TU: 12:05 a.m.— I love that I can call my professor at 10:15 p.m. She helped me with my calculus problem. How cool is it that she always makes time for me?!

Tommy @ TU: 1:01 a.m.—Didn’t know what I wanted to major in until I took a few honors courses. My professors are awesome.

Do you bleed black and gold? Towson Tigers do. With 20 NCAA Division I sports, Towson has something for every fan.

Wear your stripes when you play on one of our dozens of club or intramural teams. From soccer to rock climbing to rugby, it’s easy to compete while you make new friends. You can also head to the gym at Burdick Hall to break a sweat between classes.

Another way to show your school spirit is by joining one of our student organizations. Express yourself as a member of more than 200 academic, professional, cultural, Greek, honor, religious, service or special interest clubs. You can also write for The Towerlight student newspaper.

If you love the arts, head to the Center for the Arts. You can check out around 200 performances and exhibits throughout the year, including the work of students and professionals.

EXPRESSY O U R S E L F

Deon @ TU: 4:12 p.m.—Sorry Mom, I won’t be home again this weekend... we’re going to Homecoming!

Corinne @ TU: 5:13 p.m.— We’re all meeting at my place tonight to get ready for the game. Don’t forget your face paint!

Fiorella @ TU: 6:15 p.m.—I have a Latino student meeting tonight. We’re planning a pot luck dinner. Got any suggestions on what I should make?

CHALLENGEY O U R S E L F

Opportunities abound at Towson, a suburban campus (think acres of trees and grass) just eight miles from Baltimore. That means you’ll have all you need on campus—places to live, eat, study, work and have fun—and even more just minutes away.

Downtown Towson is the place to check out the latest films at the theater, go shopping at the huge Towson Town Center mall, grab some food with your friends, and enjoy the nightlife at local hot spots and music venues. In downtown Baltimore you’ll find the Inner Harbor and many neighborhoods all with their own eating and entertainment options.

Towson and Baltimore are also great places to test your skills in a job or internship, and to give back through a community service opportunity. We’re an easy commute to Washington, D.C., and New York City, where you can take a trip or pursue an internship.

Deon @ TU: 1:31 p.m.—I got 2 internship offers. I mean, WOW... TU is so networked in Baltimore and D.C. that picking one is tough.

Tommy @ TU: 3:12 p.m.—No soccer game today! Don’t have to work at the tutoring lab either. I’m outta here at 8 for a date at Bahama Breeze near the Towsontown Mall!

Shardae @ TU: 4:30 p.m.—We hopped the CollTown Shuttle last night and 10 minutes later we were at the Inner Harbor for dinner. I love downtown Baltimore, there’s so much to do.

Make yourself at home at Towson. You can decorate your room with all your favorite posters, eat whenever you want and set your own schedule. Early bird or night owl, it’s your call.

Living on campus gives you the chance to meet students who may have the same interests or can introduce you to theirs. College life is all about making friends who will be there to hang out with you after class or help you study for that big exam.

Does studying make you hungry? With 13 dining locations to choose from, there is something for every taste and craving on campus. Many of our dining facilities are a la carte, so fill up your tray. Don’t worry, the food is good! Just ask any TU student.

The best way to imagine yourself as a Towson student is by taking a tour of the campus. Our student ambassador guides will walk you through campus and introduce you to what your new home will look like.

They will fill you in on the best ways to adjust to college life and discover your passions right on campus. They also know all the good places to eat!

IMAGINEY O U R S E L F

Tommy @ TU: 9:45 a.m.— Gotta run... got a class in 10 min. Lucky that I live just across the street from campus.

Joey @ TU: 1:35 p.m.— Commuting to campus isn’t bad when TU has all-you-can-eat at the Glen. That meal plan just paid for itself!

Fiorella @ TU: 3:35 a.m. — Shhh... don’t tell my dad. Everybody on our floor stayed up till 3 a.m. We’re so excited to see The Roots in concert tomorrow!

Page 18: Apply Yourself at Towson University

Study abroad is one of the best ways to see yourself—and the world—in a different context. You can choose a program offered by Towson or another university and receive credit for any courses you take abroad. Learn Italian in Italy, study Latin American history in Latin America or explore the history of your ancestors in their home country.

Are you a science geek? Or just interested in how the world works? Research is a great way to learn more about your interests and test your theories. You can even work closely with a professor on his or her research and present findings at conferences.

If you are looking to take a step toward a career after college or just interested in paying the bills, you can find a job or internship through the Career Center. It’s conveniently located on campus and offers a wealth of career advising and job placement resources.

Corinne @ TU: 10:15 a.m.— Get this, while I was studying abroad in Germany my professor hooked me up with TU’s sister college at Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg. I made a lot of new friends and they took me to the most amazing places.

Shardae @ TU: 12:10 p.m.—I volunteered today at TU’s Dowell Health Center. I get to help teach others about HIV education. You should join our new group, HOPE (Health Outreach Peer Educators). We’re helping share information about Dowell around campus.

Joey @ TU: 2:05 p.m.—Catch you later... have to get to the Career Center to finish working with them on my resume.

Fiorella @ TU: 7:35 p.m.—I L-O-V-E that I can walk over to TU’s child care center and practice what I learn in class. It’s amazing how much I’ve learned about kids by doing some observation and research for class.
