Senior Peer Advisor Leaders: December 9, 2019 – December 2020

Senior Peer Advisor Leaders (Senior PALs) are upper-level leadership positions in the New Student Connections (NSC) office. Senior PALs embody the office’s mission and purpose and serve as a resource and coach for all new students who demonstrate a need for coaching in social, personal, or academic areas of their college transition. Senior PALs represent NSC and USF at a variety of office and university events. Senior PALs will also assist in the ongoing training and mentorship of Peer Advisor Leaders (PALs). Duties include, but are not limited to:

Attend Spring Training Course meetings and shared training (Spring 2020)

o Spring Retreat – January 17-18, 2020 – PAL Retreat

o Spring Training Course – Wednesdays @ 8:45 -10:45AM

Support New Student Connections during all NSC signature programs (Orientation; The Network; Meet & Go’s; Peer

Coaching; Week of Welcome –Fall, Spring, Summer; FFD Programming), with the inclusion of:

o Family and Friends Weekend

o Spring Family Day

o USF Admissions/Recruiting Days,

o And many more

Support students, individually and in groups, through the transition of their first year at USF

Advise and mentor a group of Peer Advisor Leaders (PALs) through Spring Training Course, and the execution of NSC programming, shared experiences, and individual coaching sessions

Provide meaningful and engaging space for Peer Advisor Leaders (PALs) to grow as individuals and a team Support student leader recruitment marketing and execution Available for all the required dates/times provided at information sessions and throughout the Spring Training

Course.

Terms of Employment & Compensation Senior PAL Training will take place December 9-13, 2019; specific times will be contingent on schedules. The official period of employment will be December 9, 2019 – December 2020.

Payroll is distributed on an hourly wage. Starting wage is $9.50/hour Senior PALs can be expected to work between 10-20 hours/week Extended Hours will be expected during Summer B Leader Training, Weekly Team Meetings, Summer B Opening

Weekend, Fall Week of Welcome, and August Leader Training & Experiences; Due to the time requirements, the Senior PALs:

Will be able to take summer courses.

Will be unable study abroad during period of employment (Spring 2020, Summer 2020, Fall 2020).

Will be unable to serve as an orientation leader (Summer 2020).

Will be unable to serve as a Resident Assistant (RA) for the 2020/2021 school year.

Peer Advisor Leaders (PALs) Peer Advisor Leaders (PALs) create shared experiences to help students through their transition to USF. From large scale programs to individual coaching conversations, PALs are an integral part to the New Student Connections (NSC) Team. Each PAL will support the major NSC events and programs while serving students during Week of Welcome and FFD programming activities, the Network, and by leading Meet & Go events to integrate students into USF. Duties include, but are not limited to:
