Align applied math curriculum with the College Readiness Standards (CRS)

Improve student transition from Seattle Public Schools’ (SPS) applied math courses into Seattle Community College (SCCD) workforce training programs (WTP)

SPS applied math and algebra teachers shared a lesson to be used during the school year.

Team aligned the lesson with the CRS.

Nan Johnson : Construction – Students acted as general contractors developing plan for renovating a home

Bruce Dodson: Applied Math – Students worked with gears and gear ratios

Dennis Wu: Business – Students discussed the purchase of cars, learning about financing and APR

There are a number of articulation agreements in place between individual SCCD colleges and SPS schools/courses

Applied Math Council is collecting agreements from across the state in an attempt to standardize the articulation process
