APPLIED ARTS DEPARTMENT
ENGINEERING LAB
We are excited to share all of the creative things our students are doing in our Applied Arts classes.
From Drafting CAD to TV Production, to Business and Technology and to Culinary Arts, our programs come alive through student-created ideas and on-task learning.
Through problem-solving activities our students tackle the intricacies of our layered curriculum.
CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION AT RBHS

The Culinary Arts classes have been busy preparing a variety of delicious recipes that involve numerous culinary techniques and skills. Foods & Nutrit ion I classes have been learning nutrit ional concepts highlighted in the healthy eating program MyPlate.

BAKING AND PASTRY
Our course goals and objectives mirror that of each of our industries. We bring in real-world opportunities for our students and update our lessons each semester, as our content changes rapidly.
Whether your child is currently enrolled in one or more of our classes or soon will be, we welcome you to enjoy our students' successes.

Our Engineering Students recently installed double screen monitors in their lab in order to work more effectively in AutoCAD.
Baking and Pastry is a new class this year and is experiencing much success! The students have already mastered pies and tarts.
The Foods & Nutrit ion II class has been traveling around the world investigating, preparing, and learning about culinary masterpieces from France, the United States and Italy just to name a few.
Next quarter, our Graphic Arts students will be working in Adobe Photoshop CC to design original work for their portfolios.
Students have been mastering the pen tool and shading techniques using Adobe Il lustrator CC.

Consumer Economics is a class that focuses on personal f inance management.
The rigorous curriculum prepares students for their f inancial futures. Through class activit ies and problem based learning, students learn how to become independent consumers.
Our students just completed a debate on raising minimum wage.
Our next unit: Investing and the Stock Market
Game Design students have been sentence coding as they create their original games from scratch.

TECHNOLOGY AND ENGINEERING/AUTOMOTIVE
Advanced Auto Curriculum includes:
working on live cars, brake inspection, brake jobs, check engine diagnostics, brake systems, brake service, electricity/electronics, and check engine diagnostics.
RBTV UPDATE
TV Arts Product ion and Advanced TV Arts Product ion students are producing original programming for RBTV.
TV Arts Product ion students are working on their People in Perspective and Man on the Street interviews. While the Advanced TV Arts students are producing program ideas that they pitched at the beginning of the school year.
