Welcome to Dixie Technical College. We are pleased you have chosen to continue your education by applying for this program. The Electrical Apprenticeship training is 720 hours which is completed over a four-year period. You must be officially admitted into the program in order to begin training. Use this checklist to assure your placement on the applicant list. Application will not be accepted until it is complete. APPLY TO THE ELECTRICAL APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM ❏ Computerized Placement Test (Accuplacer CPT - Arithmetic and Reading)
Test may be waived with proof of qualifying ACT scores or equivalent course completion (official transcript required for review) taken in the past two years, or if student is sponsored by an instructor approved industry employer.
Call Student Services to schedule. Cost is $15 for both sections or $10 each The test may be taken at Dixie Tech a maximum of three times per subject per year See reverse for program qualifying scores

After successfully completing and submitting the above requirements, students will be eligible to schedule an Application Review after which students will be emailed regarding their acceptance status. Within two (2) weeks of acceptance notification or by the first scheduled day of class (whichever comes first), all tuition/fees/books must be paid in full unless a payment plan or sponsorship has been submitted and approved. If payment is not received by these deadlines, the reserved position may be released to other students. Application Due Date: July 1st for August start date December 1st for January start date Upon program approval, applications may be accepted after the due date if space is remaining.

PLUMBING & ELECTRICAL APPRENTICESHIP REQUIREMENTS
FACT SHEET
What is an Apprenticeship? An Apprenticeship is a combination of on the job work experience and
related instruction I.e. apprenticeship evening school
Are there age requirements? Most programs require an age of 18 years. Under Utah State Law, some
exception can be made from an age for 16 and 17 year olds in connection with an approved Bureau of
Apprenticeship and Training (BAT) apprenticeship program.
What prior education is required? Furnish certificate or transcripts of High School graduation equivalent
test, or be enrolled currently in High School to apprenticeship programs (STA).
Terms of Apprenticeship
1. On the Job training- 4 years (8,000 hours)
2. Related classroom instruction- a minimum of 144 hours per year with a total of 576 hours in 4
years.
3. Must be employed in the same field as your classroom instruction and registered with the State
Office of Occupational and Professional Licensing
4. High School students must have an employer sponsor them and be registered with The Bureau
of Apprenticeship and Training Federal Office.
Are there health requirements? Good health, physically able to do heavy work under all working
conditions.
What wages can I expect? Apprentice pay is based on a percentage of the journeyman wage rate
starting at 50% for a beginning apprentice. Advancement is based on a satisfactory work on the job and
progress in related classroom instruction. You can also look up wages on Utah’s Department of
Workforce Services website. (jobs.utah.gov)
