HVACMonitoring Application Updates
Version 3.3.1 includes several updates to the HVACMonitoring application. These updates, described in detail below, involve Application Configuration Changes, Alarm Reporting, Measurement Organization, and Controller Configuration Management.
Application Configuration Changes
In versions issued prior to Version 3.3.1, users would configure multiple network elements to monitor an HVAC system. Beginning with Version 3.3.1, the only network element to be configured is hvacSystem. Once the appropriate communication parameters are configured and the application is able to poll the HVAC controller, the application will automatically add appropriate components to represent the HVAC units and any temperature sensors provided by the HVAC controller.

Application Package Version 3.3.1 Release NotesNew Features
Network elements that are no longer availableby default as of Version 3.3.1 are:
hvacUnit1
hvacUnit2
indoorHumidity
indoorTemperature
outdoorHumidity
outdoorTemperature
smokeDetector
hvac1IntakeTemperature
hvac1OutletTemperature
hvac2IntakeTemperature
hvac2OutletTemperature
These network elements will be added automatically as components when appropriate. Additionally, users can add temperature sensor elements with the TemperatureSensor network-element set.
Examples
Here is a configuration example to bring HVAC monitoring online for an IP-connected controller:
config site network-element hvacSystem
type BardMV5000HVACSystemparam deviceIP 192.168.1.100
The following configures online HVAC monitoring for a serial-connected controller:
config site network-element hvacSystem

Alarm Reporting
Version 3.3.1 will employ device alarms to report device-specific alarms. Each HVAC network element type will provide three basic alarms:
1. Communication: This alarm is raised when the application cannot communicate with the controller.
2. Compatibility: This alarm is raised when the software/firmware on the controller is not compatible with the application.
3. Configuration: This alarm is raised when a configurable parameter on the controller is not set to the value configured in the application.
All other alarms are specific to each HVAC controller type.
Measurement Organization
Version 3.3.1 will track lead/lag runtimes via measurements on the HVAC unit components instead of the HVAC system network-element. A transition guide with more specific details will be available upon request.

Controller Configuration Management
Version 3.3.1 now has a unified approach to controller configuration management across all the HVAC types. Each type now provides a device-specific set of optional parameters in the application. If users opt to configure one or more of these parameters, then the application will read the value of the same parameter on the HVAC controller and raise an alarm if the value of the parameter in the controller does not match the value of the parameter in the application. Additionally, a user may issue a forceConfigSync control-action from the application to update the parameter values in the HVAC controller. This will cause the parameters in the controller to be brought in sync to the application-configured parameters.

Application Package Version 3.3.1 Release NotesNew Features
APP-90 -- Support JMA Teko DAS v3.2.6
Version 3.3.1 supports the JMA Teko DAS firmware version 3.2.6.
APP-91 -- Support an Avian designation for Tower Lights
Version 3.3.1 includes a new parameter called towerAvian for designating the tower as an Avian tower site. When this parameter is used to designate the tower as Avian, the Style status point will have the text "Avian" appended. This allows users to quickly identify the tower as Avian by observing the Style status point events on Optima's Event View page.
The tower style will also be available for viewing and reporting as an attribute on the towerLight network-element. This will allow users to easily identify the tower style when viewing events and will also allow users to easily create inventory reports for tower lights.
The Avian designation applies only to the following tower types:
SPX3630XX
SPXVanguard
DialightMediumIntensity
DialightA0_A1Style
DialightA1_A6StyleThe following is a sample configuration for designating a tower as Avian:
config site network-element towerLight
param towerAvian enable
Examples of Optima displays showing an Avian type tower appear in the following three figures.

Application Package Version 3.3.1 Release NotesEnhancements
APP-114 -- Prevent Polling of DAS Systems Older than the Minimum Version
Version 3.3.1 will check the version of a DAS controller. If that version is older than the minimum supported version, then the application software will not attempt to poll the DAS for inventory and alarm information.
APP-116 -- Support DeepSea 7320 Maintenance Alarms
Version 3.3.1 will monitor and report the three generic maintenance alarms provided by the DeepSea 7320 generator controller.
APP-133 -- Support Ability to Read Serial Number from Forlong Power Meters
In Version 3.3.1, the serial number of supported Forlong power meters will be read and displayed as a new read-only parameter.
Note: The meters may not come from the manufacturer with the serial number already programmed. In this situation, the application reports a serial number of “0.” If the serial number has not peen programmed in the meter, it is the user’s responsibility to configure the serial number in the Modbus register for the application software to read and display it.
Enhancements
APP-119 -- Marvair Comstat4 Setting Mismatch Enhancement
In Version 3.3.1, settings mismatches will be reported as a “Configuration” alarm. The MarvairCS4HVACSystem type will now handle configuration management in the same manner as the other HVAC controller types (see “Controller Configuration Management” on page 6).

Application Package Version 3.3.1 Release NotesDevice Agent Enhancements
APP-141 -- SPX 3630xx Type Tower Controller Photocell Alarm Severity Changes
Effective with Version 3.3.1, photocell alarm (PEC ERR) severities on SPX Tower Controllers of 3630xx type red, white, and dual now report photocell alarms as “TowerCritical” with a severity of “Critical.” The type white previously reported photocell alarms as “Major” severity.
Device Agent Enhancements
APP-137 -- Device Agent Profile Versioning
Device Agent profiles now support versioning to provide backward compatibility with previous versions of the Application Package software.
APP-145 -- Device Agent Support for Sub-Component NEs
Device Agent profiles now support the ability to create a variable number of sub-component NEs under the top-level NE or a component NE. This allows a hierarchical element tree to be created similar to the NE trees created by the more advanced device integration provided by the Application Package software.
Fixes
APP-107 -- Backup Discrete Alarms from SPXVanguardSNMP Temporarily Disabled
Backup discrete alarms from the Intelligent SPXVanguardSNMP tower light controllers are not always reported correctly. Because of this, Westell has temporarily disabled the ability to configure backup discrete alarming on the SPXVanguardSNMP tower light controller. This function will be restored once a logic issue is solved. The issue affects reporting of the backup discrete alarm state when communication to the controller is lost.
