Also, as relevant, pleasedemonstrate in this section your knowledge of contemporaryissues and current research in the field. Note for Doctoral Respecialization Applicants:Please answer sections A, B (understanding that you are applying as arespecialization candidate rather than PsyD or PhD per se). Instead ofquestion C, submit a copy of your dissertation abstract.

Interviews

Finalists for admission to all programs are required to be interviewed. In a few rare cases, Alliant International University uses telephoneinterviews, especially in cases where applicants live outside NorthAmerica (the United States, Canada, and Mexico). The cost of theseinterviews is borne by the applicant.

The majority of the program interviews are held at AlliantInternational University beginning in December and continuingthrough April.

Those programs with later application deadlines have appropriateinterview dates 2–4 weeks after the program deadlines, so it isimportant that your application packet be completed as close to thedeadline as possible.

Entry Level and Credit for Previous Graduate Work

Entry at the graduate level means you are enrolling in the basiccurriculum as outlined by the program. Almost all students enter atthis level. All applicants must meet the graduate entry levelrequirements. If, in addition to meeting the graduate entry levelrequirements, you also have graduate work or a master’s degree inpsychology or a closely related field, you may be able to receive creditfor a limited number of graduate units to be used as transfer creditor challenged for the first and second years of the program providedequivalency criteria are met. Not all programs offer this advancedcredit option. Coursework must have been taken at the graduatelevel at an accredited institution with a minimum grade point averageof 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Acceptance of transfer/waiver credits is basedupon rigorous demonstration by the applicant of course content andachievement of professional competencies. Some credits may begranted upon admission based on your application information.Other credits may be granted on a case-by-case evaluation done bythe program dean/director. For more information on waiver ofprogram requirements or non-core courses, contact the campusAdmissions Office. If you wish to make these comparisons on apreliminary basis, you may consult the course descriptions in theAlliant International University catalog. Final decisions regardingequivalency are made by each campus and based on course contentas well as on course title.

It is unlikely that receiving credit for previous graduate work willsignificantly decrease the duration of your program. After receivingtransfer credit, students usually enroll in fewer units per term andinstead have time for scholarly or research contributions or part-timeemployment. Programs will grant up to nine units toward the MAand up to 30 units toward the doctoral programs.

An applicant’s academic preparation and coursework equivalency, both undergraduate and graduate, will be evaluated by the campusadmissions committee.

Doctoral Respecialization

Organizational doctoral respecialization is available at the Fresno,Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco campuses. If you plan toapply to the doctoral respecialization program, you must hold anearned doctorate from an accredited institution in psychology or arelated field.

Your academic and professional experience are evaluated by thecampus on the basis of its curriculum requirements, and, if admitted, your program is designed to fulfill those requirements. Usually theprogram is completed in one to three years. Further information isavailable from the campus Admissions Office.
