APPLICATION FOR REGISTRATION OF

THOROUGHBRED COLOURS

REGULATIONS 1. All horses racing at Western Australian race meetings must carry racing colours registered with RWWA. 2. Combinations of colours should be restricted as far as possible to one dark colour with light colours. They must be identical when viewed

from back and front and side to side. 3. Hoops, stripes, V’s and braces be not less than 5 cm wide in the material itself. 4. Multiple spots, stars, diamonds, checks, sashes and armbands must not be less than 10 cm wide and bands must not be less than 15 cm

wide. Single diamonds (that is one on the front and one on the back) must not be less than 30 cm by 20 cm and single spots not less than 20 cm diameter. Other unusual motifs should use these sizes as a guide.

5. The use of numerals, letters, words, offensive motifs and use of commercial property including logos or trademarks (registered or unregistered) or colours associated with a business or commercial undertaking, racing stable, stud or licensed racehorse syndicator are restricted.

6. The renewal of thoroughbred racing colours is three yearly 7. All single colour jacket combinations have been registered 8. The use of a business/company logo (with or without the display of its business name) may be used under the following circumstances:

That the logo design does not resemble any registered Trade Mark.

That the logo design is solely associated with a thoroughbred racing-related business/company. ie; Racing Stable, Public Syndicator of Race Horses, Stud farm etc, (excluding any wagering operators).

That the business/company must be registered with an active ABN/ACN, and in the case of a Public Syndicator of Race Horses, a Dealer’s Licence and Registration must have been issued by ASIC/RWWA.

That any wording is specifically that of the registered Business/Company name.

That the logo is not offensive, or in breach of standards of good taste (exercised by RWWA in its discretion).

That the logo does not breach any Australian laws in relation to advertising.

That once approved the logo cannot be altered in any way without the prior permission of RWWA.

Any application for the registration of colours using a business/company logo, must contain all documentation required to substantiate the criteria contained in the regulations.

RWWA reserves the right to refuse any application that does not satisfy the specific criteria listed in the Regulations.
