C.1 Master of Theology (MTh) (NQF 9)

The minimum requirement for entry into this MTh Programme is an NQF Level 8 Bachelor of Theology or equivalent meeting the core elements of our degree program in a relevant field of study from a University or Higher Education and Training (HET) institution that is registered with the Department of Private Higher Education in South Africa.

Applicants may be considered for admission on the basis of the Recognition of Prior Learning and/or Experience (RPL/E) provided that such applicant has satisfied the College of their suitability for the degree by means that shall be determined on an individual basis by the Post-Graduate Committee.

Applicants who do not possess the required qualifications outlined above may be eligible for admission on the basis of previous work experience. In this instance a person with knowledge of the employment may be nominated to act as a referee.

C.2 Bachelor of Theology (BTh) (NQF 8)

The Bachelor of Theology is the premier Programme of the College, designed to further train Christians

in the areas of church ministry, cross-cultural missions and youth ministry. It is available as in a distance

and contact mode. There are no points of graduation until the completion of the entire four years.

Students who complete the Bachelor of Biblical Studies or any of our Higher Certificate Programmes

may articulate into the Bachelor of Theology Degree through Credit and Articulation, but loss of credits

will apply as outlined by legislation.

Entrance Qualification: Matriculation or equivalent and the Diploma in Theology (NQF Level 7) or equivalent. Graduation requirements: Forty subjects / 480 credits total. Study articulation: To Masters Degree level studies

C.3 Diploma in Theology / Bachelor of Biblical Studies (BBib) (NQF 7)

Previously known as the Diploma in Theology, the Bachelor of Biblical Studies is a general degree in

Theology as part of our Distance Study Programme designed to train Christians in the areas of Biblical

studies, Theology and Church ministry.

Entrance Qualification: Matriculation or equivalent. Graduation requirements: Thirty subjects / 360 credits total. Study articulation: To Honours Degree level.

C.4 Higher Certificate in Ministry (HC in Ministry) (NQF 5)

The Higher Certificate in Ministry degree is designed for Christians wishing to equip themselves in

a specific area of Christian ministry; namely, counsell ing, church ministry, cross-cultural

missions, or youth ministry. This degree is only offered in Distance learning and is vocational in outcome.

Entrance qualification:

Matriculation or equivalent. Applicants with less than a matriculation will be considered on merit. Graduation requirements:

Ten subjects / 120 credits total.

Breach

1. Should you omit to pay the balance of 50% payment on the agreed date, and the total amounts owing, you will be in breach of this agreement.

2. You will then be sent a Section 29 notice within 7 days which will give you a 20 days grace period to pay the outstanding amount.

3. Should you still be in default after this time, and have failed to respond to the default letter (without a mutually acceptable, payment offer) your account will be handed over to Trans Union ITC Credit Bureau after which you will be blacklisted. Please take the time to realize the impact this would have on your future finances, and ensure that you are able to afford your fees before committing to this agreement.

Cancellation policy

1. Should you cancel your studies within 30 days of the start of the semester, 50% of the study fees is refundable. Registration fee is non-refundable.

2. No refund on study fees should you cancel after 30 days of the start of the semester. Registration fee is non-refundable.

3. No penalty applicable to study fees should you cancel your studies during the registration period.

RPL APPLICATION FORM

INTRODUCTION

In terms of the requirements of the relevant statutory bodies, The Baptist Theological College of Southern

Africa will consider applications for the Recognition of Prior Learning, being formal and informal, from any

learner who submits the required documentation, in accordance with the stipulated process.

All applications for the Recognition of Prior Learning, will be evaluated in the month following a final

submission date of either 15 May or 15 October.

If application is being made only in respect of formal South African studies and qualifications, further

submissions will be considered, if received by no later than 15 June or 15 January.

Potential applicants need to note that as the processing of evaluation is a deliberate and considered

process, no applications will be considered at any other times.
