A request initiated by the County to amend Future Land Use Map 2030 from Rural/Agriculture to Preservation for tax parcels #18235-000-000 & #18108-002-000 on approximately 325 acres owned by Alachua County Board of County Commissioners, and generally located between Gainesville and Hawthorne east of CR 325 and south of CR 2082.

Bases for Approval• The designation of the publicly owned parcels, acquired
for use as a natural resource and managed conservation land, will be consistent with policies for preservation of natural resources. (COSE Obj. 3.2)
• The amendment provides for identification of preservation areas on the Future Land Use Map. (COSE Obj. 3.3)
• The amendment helps ensure protection of a critical portion of habitat for listed plant and animal species, and is part of the larger regional wildlife corridor connecting the Ocala National Forest and the Okeefenokee Swamp. (COSE Obj. 4.9)
