Appendix 2 Further Roebuck family information
My interest in the Roebuck family goes only as far as the origin of Julia Nicholls.
The following is an unprocessed collection of news clippings and other raw material
relating to the Roebucks, for anyone who may have a further interest in the history of
the Roebuck family:

James Erskine Corbett only had 2 children in 1855.
However two of his brothers ended up in NP including brother George who came out
on the Duke of Portland.

family of 4 might have been sons James (1854) and our George (1853) and two
brothers George (1835 cf 1831?) and John (1834). Taranaki Herald, 29 October 1907

1900/11167 Corbett Leonard Charles Fanny Susan nee Roebuck George William Digby Harrod (son of the man who founded Harrods) was an early military settler at Okato.
William was held in high esteem by people in Okato, and one of his closest friends, Fred Roebuck, thought highly enough of him to name his youngest son Stephen Digby Roebuck. Once, many years on, when Stephen was interviewed at the age of 87, he was asked about his namesake. He said his parents were fond of the Englishman. "My parents were always talking about him. They enjoyed his company."

Frank Ernest Roebuck residential Okato farmer
1905/06 NZ Census and voter list records
Frank Ernest Robuck, Kakahi, saw mill hand
1881 census records “Frederick Roebuck” residential Okato blacksmith.
1890 NZ Census and voter lists records
Frederick Roebuck residential Okato blacksmith.
1896 census and voter lists records Frederick and Robert Frederick both blacksmiths.
My conclusion is that Robert Frederick Roebuck and Frederick Roebuck are the same
person and in 1896 Robert Frederick got recorded twice.
1900 census records only Robert Fredrick, blacksmith, and his wife.
