PRIMARY SURVEY AMONG CONSUMERS

A Study of the Effects of Brand Extension Decisions on

Existing Brands and New Product Acceptance in the

Indian Consumer Product Market

This survey is carried out as a part of my research study leading to the award of Ph D

Degree in Commerce from the University of Calicut. This survey is a critical part of

the study.

Below I have given the names of the most trusted Fast Moving Consumer Goods

(FMCG) for the year 2008. Along with the parent brands are given names of their

extensions (i.e. different products under the same name, e.g.: Colgate toothbrush,

Colgate toothpowder etc) existing in the present market. Also are given hypothetical

(fictitious) brand extensions. Kindly mark your responses as per the rating scales

specified.

The published results of the questionnaire and interview will be non-attributable and

all information provided will remain strictly confidential. Information collected

through this survey will be used only for research purpose and not for any other

purpose.
