BasicFirstAid‐Preventionandinitialcareforemergencymovingofinjuredpatients,wounds/bleeding,traumaticshock,musculoskeletalinjuries,burns,eyeinjuries,drowning,allergicemergency,asthma,fainting,diabeticemergencies,drugoverdose,poisoning,seizures,temperaturerelatedproblems,insectstings/bites,spiderbites,venomoussnakebites,dentalinjuriesandsuspensiontrauma.TheFirstAidcardisgoodfor3years.Adult/PediatricCPRcardsaregoodfor1year.Uponexpiration,youmusttaketheclasstorecertify.

Lead/AsbestosTrainingEnvironmentaltrainingsuchasAHERAtrainingforasbestosawareness,isforallemployeeswhocomeintocontactwithAsbestosbutdonotdisturbit.Theymusthavethe2HourAsbestosAwarenessTrainingannually.Thisisalmostallworkersbecauseover3000productsarestillinuse,manynotbanned.LeadAwarenessTrainingisalsorequiredannually.LeadclassesarerequiredundertheHazardCommunicationstandardandOSHAstandards.Employersarerequiredtoprovideannualtrainingtoemployeeswhoencounterhazardsintheworkplace,includingLead,whichisfoundinmanycommonworkplaceproductsfromkeystopaint.LeadSafetyTrainingThis1‐day(8‐hr)classexplainshowtocomplywithEPA'sRenovation,Repair,andPainting(RRP)Rule.Subjectscoveredinclude:healtheffects,regulations,leadsafeworkpractices,containment,cleaningandrecordkeeping.Tobecomeacertifiedrenovator,anindividualmustsuccessfullycompletetheappropriatecourseaccreditedbyEPAorbyaStateorTribalprogramthatisauthorizedbyEPA. 11

MineSafety&HealthAdministrationProtectingthosewhoworkinourNation'sminesrequiresanawarenessandunderstandingoftheconditionswhichendangertheirhealthandsafety.Thisproblemwasrecognizedasearlyas1865whenaproposalforaFederalminingbureauwassubmittedtoCongress.Butitwasnotuntil45yearslaterthataseriesofmineexplosionsledtopassageoftheOrganicActof1910.ThatActcreatedtheBureauofMines.Lawspassedoverthenextsixdecadesenlargedthescopeoflegislationaimedatreducingmininghazards.TheNationalMineHealthandSafetyAcademy,atBeckley,WestVirginia,evolvedfromthoselaws.Dedicatedin1976,thepresentAcademycomplexhousesthelargesteducationalinstitutionintheworlddevotedsolelytohealthandsafetyinmining.TheAcademyservesasthecentraltrainingfacilityforfederalmineinspectorsandminesafetyprofessionalsfromothergovernmentagencies,theminingindustry,andlabor.Academystaffprovidesclassroominstructionandproducesvideotapes,slidepresentations,publications,andothertrainingmaterials.Theseclassesandmaterialscoversafetyandinspectionprocedures,accidentprevention,investigations,industrialhygiene,mineemergencyprocedures,miningtechnology,management,andmanyothersubjects.AlloftheseitemsaredesignedwithonecentralthemeinmindtopromoteandenhancethehealthandsafetyofthosewhoworkinourNation'smines. 12

Thiscoursewillcoverbestriggingpracticesandtheproperset‐upandhands‐onuseofriggingequipment.ThisclassisdesignedtopreparejourneylevelworkerstosuccessfullyperformtheriggingproceduresthatarerequiredintheUApracticalexamination.Thisclassisarecommendedpre‐requisitetotheUAIndustrialRiggingCertificationCourse.CraneSignalPersonPre‐requisite:SecondyearApprenticeorabove

Thiscourseconsistsofaminimumof24hourstraining,50%ofwhichmustbehands‐onpracticalexercises,inadditiontoclassroomtraining.

Practicalexercisesshallbestagedusingmock‐upsthatprovidethenecessaryframeworkandsafetyforcranesignalingactivities.Followingthecompletionoftheprogram,aNCCCCertificationExamisprovided,consistingofwrittenandpracticalportions.

Uponpassingbothportionsoftheexam,thestudentwillearnaUA/NCCCCraneSignalPersonCertificationwhichisgoodfor5years.UAIndustrialRiggingPre‐requisite:SecondyearApprenticeoraboveEachtraineemustcompleteaminimumofsixty(60)hoursoftraining. 14

This40‐hourcourse(halflectureandhalfhands‐ontraining)providesthetestingandmaintenancemethodsforvariousbackflowpreventionassemblies.Participantswilllearnhowtorecognizevariousbackflowpreventersandtheproperproceduresfortestingeachassemblyunderavarietyoftestconditions.Thiscoursewillreviewalltherules,codesandregulationsonthebackflowrequirements.

Uponcompletionoftheclass,studentscantestattheirlocalagencyorcountytobecertifiedforthatarea.CleanRoom/OrbitalWeldingThisclassprovidestrainingincleanroomtechnology,aswellasorbitalweldingcertification.Studentswillbecomeproficientinprogrammingandcalculationsassociatedwiththeoperationoftheorbitalweldingprocessrequiredinhighpuritypipingsystems.Afterpassingthisclass,youwillreceivea6‐monthcertificationinOrbitalWeldingfromNITC. 16
