I joined a number of other principals as well as some administrators from outside our district in a couple hours of intentional discussion about leadership and, specifically, the habits that we exhibit on a regular basis. I truly appreciated the reading and discussion and would highly encourage you to take a look at the article I linked above on your own time and reflect on your own habits and how they drive you toward your own goals, whether professional, personal, spiritual, or otherwise. In addition to being BLOWN AWAY by Warren Buffet spending 80% of his time reading and Stephen King writing 1,000 PAGES a day, 365 days a year, my biggest take-away was this line: “Once we develop a habit, our brains actually change to make the behavior easier to complete. After about 30 days of practice, enacting a habit becomes easier than not doing so.” I find this to be so incredibly encouraging. The question I have for myself is this - Can I commit to a 30-day challenge of welcoming in a new habit that will push me toward my goals as a husband, a father, a principal? I plan to spend the weekend thinking intentionally about this and Monday...Monday is the day! How about you? Want to join me in a 30-day challenge? Have a GREAT weekend! Rob P.S.
