DAY 1: Cancún Arrival to Mexico City airport, meet your guide, transfer to your hotel. Welcome drink. Accommodation.

DAY 2: Cancún - Valladolid – Chichen Itza - MéridaBreakfast. Our first stop today will be at the colonial city of Valladolid, known as “The Pearl of the East.” Valladolid is Yucatan’s oldest and second largest city and has preserved its colonial flavor of the mid-1500s. Enjoy exploring the plaza and life along the cobblestone streets. Continue to the famous Mayan city-state of Chichen Itza (one of the new 7 wonders of the world) .Explore what was once the largest political and religious center in the Yucatan Peninsula. Marvel at the magnificent ruins that demonstrate the impressive architectural skills and ingenuity of the ancient Mayan civilization..Your day comes to an end in Merida, capital city for the state of Yucatan. Accommodation. DAY 3: MéridaBreakfast. Known as the “white city” for its light-colored facades, Merida was founded in 1542. A city tour features the spectacular archaeological finds at the Museum of Anthropology and the impressive collection of paintings at the Governor’s Palace. In addition, see the Plaza Principal, Cathedral of SanIldefonso (the oldest in North America), and Paseo Montejo with its gorgeous 19th-century homes. Explore the treasures of this unique town on your own. Accommodation.

DAY 4: Mérida - Uxmal - Kabah - MéridaBreakfast. Leave Merida for a day tour of two impressive archaeological sites in the area, known as Puuc Route, which has World Heritage status. First, visit Uxmal, which was one of the largest city-states in the Yucatan. Enjoy a guided tour of the ruins and see the impressive building known as the “Pyramid of the Magician.” Later, travel to Kabah, the sister city-state to Uxmal, and visit the “Temple of the Masks,” whose façade is completely adorned with sculptures of the rain god, Chac. After returning to Merida, the balance of the day is at leisure. Accommodation. DAY 5: Mérida - Uman - Celestun - MéridaBreakfast. This morning, walk through a local market in the town of Uman. Your guide will talk about the

local produce that is used for everyday cuisine in the Yucatan. Your day continues at the Ecological Reserve at Celestun. Enjoy a relaxing boat excursion and explore the local wildlife, including the elegant flamingos and pelicans that make this their home. Return to Mérida. Accommodation. DAY 6: Mérida – Coba - Tulum – Cancún Breakfast. Departure to Coba for a guided tour of these extensive ruins. You may explore the ruins by foot, bicycle or human-powered tricycle. Coba is situated in a lush natural setting filled with many species of animals, birds and butterflies and is a real nature lover´s delight. It is also home to the tallest Mayan pyramid in the Yucatan. From its top you can see above the jungle canopy for miles in each direction. On these quiet and peaceful grounds it´s hard to imagine that Cobá may have once had the largest population of all the ancient Mayan cities. This site dates from 600-900 A.D. and there were an estimated 100,000 people living in its domain. It was the heart of a large metropolis composed of many cities within the eastern Yucatan. Continue to the Mayan ruins at Tulum have a number of interesting structures from the ancient Mayan world. Graceful columns and elegant carvings give one an appreciation for the architectural achievements of the Maya. Inside the Temple of the Frescoes are fantastic 13th century murals depicting ancient ceremonies. One of the few surviving images of the Mayan goddess of fertility and medicine, Ixchel, can be found here. Red paint still clings to the stucco on the outside of the temple. It is believed that at one time all the buildings in Tulum were painted red. After a guided tour you’ll have time to explore on your own. Bring a swimsuit to swim or sun at Tulum´s gorgeous beach or shop for local crafts at one of the many shops at the entrance to the ruins. Continue to Cancun, its warm white powdery sand beaches and turquoise crystal clear waters together with the famous Mexican hospitality make this a place like no other! Accommodation.

DAY 1: Mexico City Arrival to Mexico City airport, meet your guide transfer to your hotel. Welcome drink. Accommodation.

DAY 2: Mexico City Breakfast. Immerse yourself in the vibrant metropolis of Mexico’s largest city on a fascinating morning tour. Our first stop is Zocalo, the bustling heart of the city and former centre of the ancient Aztec city Tenochtitlan. It was razed and rebuilt by Hernan Cortes and the Spanish conquistadors. Cortes’ legacy lives on in the many colonial-style buildings, which hem the main square including the National Palace and Latin America’s largest church - the tilted Metropolitan Cathedral. Afterwards, visit the elegant area of Paseo de Reforma, an impressive tree-lined boulevard built in the style of European grand avenues, which leads to the charming Chapultepec Park. This afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of the Anthropology Museum. Accommodation.

DAY 3: Mexico City Breakfast. Departure to the new Guadelupe Basilica, a tribute to the Virgin Mary. After visiting the church, we will stop briefly at an arts and crafts store with an explanation of the use of the maguey (Mexican cactus) by the Mexicas. Continue to the amazing Pyramids of the Sun and Moon at San Juan Teotihuacan. Here you will experience the mystery of a 2000 year old city while you walk among its buildings, deities and ruins of the Quetzalpapalotl and the Butterflies Temple. Developed over 1500 years ago, the abandoned city was rediscovered in ruins by the Aztecs who believed it to be a sacred place, thereby naming it ‘the place where men become gods’. Visit the Causeway of the Dead - a ‘road’ leading through the city centre to the pyramids and the citadel - one of the city’s squares which houses the Temple of Quetzalcoatl. Accommodation.

DAY 4: Mexico City / Tuxtla Gutierrez - Sumidero Canyon - San CristobalBreakfast. Transfer to Mexico City Airport to board your flight to Tuxtla Gutierrez. Begin with a boat ride through the spectacular Sumidero Canyon, famed for its impressive scenery, beautiful waterfalls and variety of native wildlife including crocodiles, cormorants and pelicans. This afternoon, continue to San Cristobal de las Casas. Accommodation.

DAY 5: San Cristobal - Chamula - Zinacantan - San CristobalBreakfast. This morning, experience the traditions of local Tzotzil villages on a visit to San Juan Chamula and San Lorenzo Zinacantan. In Chamula, visit the inspirational church, lit by hundreds of candles and carpeted with pine needles. In Zinacantan, set in a valley amidst steep-forested hills, local traditions lie in flower farming and beautifully ornate weaving.

Afterwards, enjoy a walking tour of atmospheric San Cristobal, a charming provincial town with many intricate colonial churches and a large, traditional market. Accommodation.

DAY 6: San Cristobal - Agua Azul Waterfalls - Palenque. Breakfast. Departure to the cascading waterfalls of Agua Azul. There is time to explore the flourishing, tropical jungle and swim in the clear, crisp waters before heading to Palenque. Overnight in Palenque. Accommodation.

DAY 7: Palenque - Campeche.Breakfast. This morning, experience the incredible archaeological site of Palenque. Palenque is renowned for its unique beauty. After lunch, continue to the beautiful colonial city of Campeche, lined with elegant 18th and 19th century pastel-shade houses. Overnight in Campeche. Accommodation.

DAY 8: Campeche - Uxmal and Kabah - Merida.Breakfast. The day begins with a journey to Uxmal, where we explore the classical, oval-based step pyramids, sweeping stone staircases and stylised temples, each adorned with distinctive geometric-patterned stone mosaics. Following this, visit Kabah, meaning ‘the mighty hand’, to see Kabah’s most striking edifice and one of the most incredible Mayan architectural achievements: the Palace of Masks, covered entirely with intricately carved masks of the Mayan rain god Chac. After exploring the palace and surroundings, continue on to Merida. Accommodation.

DAY 9: Merida - Chichen Itza - CancúnBreakfast. The day begins with a fascinating tour to the most famous of the Mayan sites - Chichen Itza. You have plenty of time to appreciate this remarkable archaeological site and since there is much more than meets the eye, take time to explore features such as El Castillo the site’s great pyramid, whose simple nine-tiered stairway represents the Mayan calendar. Admire the columns and temples of the Toltec Plaza, the Ball Court and the tombs of El Osario. Continue to Cancun located on the south-east coast of Mexico in the state of Quintana Roo in the Yucatan Peninsula. The town was declared a National Monument in 1926 and is considered one of the loveliest of Mexico’s colonial cities. Enjoy a stroll through the city center under the guidance of your Tour Director to see the famous Parroquia de San Miguel Arcangel and the beautiful

Casa de Allende. Visit one of the spectacular private gardens the city is famous for, then wander on your own and browse the many interesting shops, museums and galleries, or simply relax in “El Jardin,” the central square. DAY 3: Mexico CityBreakfast. Departure to the new Guadelupe Basilica, a tribute to the Virgin Mary. After visiting the church, we will stop briefly at an arts and crafts store with an explanation of the use of the maguey (Mexican cactus) by the Mexicas. Continue to the amazing Pyramids of the Sun and Moon at San Juan Teotihuacan. Here you will experience the mystery of a 2000 year old city while you walk among its buildings, deities and ruins of the Quetzalpapalotl and the Butterflies Temple. Developed over 1500 years ago, the abandoned city was rediscovered in ruins by the Aztecs who believed it to be a sacred place, thereby naming it ‘the place where men become gods’. Visit the Causeway of the Dead - a ‘road’ leading through the city centre to the pyramids and the citadel - one of the city’s squares which houses the Temple of Quetzalcoatl. Accommodation.

DAY 4: Mexico City - Puebla - Oaxaca.Breakfast. First stop today is the colonial city of Puebla, Unesco´s World Heritage site, where the

majority of its buildings are decorated with tiles and beautifully sculpted freestone; we will also see its majestic Cathedral at the main Square, the chapel of the Rosary, considered the eighth wonder of the art world, the convent of Santa Monica and the Onyx and Talavera ceramics factories. Continue on to Oaxaca City, located in the Oaxaca Valley, a place of outstanding natural beauty. Accommodation.

DAY 5: Oaxaca - Monte Alban - OaxacaBreakfast. This morning, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Oaxaca, a peaceful and relaxing city teeming with diverse tapestry, colourful traditions and folklore. Proud of its indigenous traditions, primarily Zapotec and Mixtec, the craftwork produced here is highly regarded and renowned worldwide. Stroll amongst the cobbled streets, enjoy time in the vibrant markets and observe the beautiful La Soledad baroque church. This afternoon, drive to the ancient Zapotec fortress of Monte Albán. Set on a purposely-flattened mountaintop, this awe-inspiring site exhibits the remains of historic pyramids, palaces and temples and presents incredible views over the valley below. Return to Oaxaca. DAY 6: Oaxaca - Mitla - Tehuantepec.Breakfast. This morning journey to Mitla and visit the village of Tlacolula en-route. At Mitla’s archaeological site, explore the fascinating ruins of this ‘Place of the Dead’, graced with the architecture of the Zapotecs and Mixtecs, including broad stairways, magnificent columns, beautifully carved temples and elaborate mosaics in the Palaces Complex. Later today, continue to Tehuantepec, an area renowned for its matriarchal society and customs. Accommodation.

DAY 7: Tehuantepec - Chiapa de Corzo - Sumidero Canyon by boat - San CristobalBreakfast. Begin today with a visit to the pre-Classic site of Chiapa de Corzo. Set on the banks of the Grijalva River, this former farming settlement became a vital town on the ancient Mesoamerican trade route. Afterwards enjoy a leisurely meander

along the river on an included boat ride. The trip will take you through the spectacular Sumidero Canyon, famed for its impressive scenery, beautiful waterfalls and variety of native wildlife including crocodiles, cormorants and pelicans. This afternoon, continue to San Cristobal de las Casas. Accommodation.

DAY 8: San Cristobal - Chamula - Zinacantan - San CristobalBreakfast. This morning, experience the traditions of local Tzotzil villages on a visit to San Juan Chamula and San Lorenzo Zinacantan. In Chamula, visit the inspirational church, lit by hundreds of candles and carpeted with pine needles. In Zinacantan, set in a valley amidst steep-forested hills, local traditions lie in flower farming and beautifully ornate weaving. Afterwards, enjoy a walking tour of atmospheric San Cristobal, a charming provincial town with many intricate colonial churches and a large, traditional market. Accommodation.

DAY 9: San Cristobal - Agua Azul Waterfalls - Palenque.Breakfast. Departure to the cascading waterfalls of Agua Azul. There is time to explore the flourishing, tropical jungle and swim in the clear, crisp waters before heading to Palenque. Overnight in Palenque. Accommodation.
