The yoga classes are open to all levels from complete beginners to experienced yogi. The classes will draw from Hatha Yoga tradition and taught in a slow mindful flow practice. They will be taught with a clear alignment based focus as a breath inspired movement, with elements of influence from other yoga disciplines; restorative, yin or vinyasa flow as well as related areas such as Psychology, Yoga Therapy and Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). They may include physical poses-asana, breathing techniques-pranayama and meditation. You may enjoy your first Group Yoga Class complimentary. Private sessions customised to your needs To optimise your yoga practice and benefit from a customised programme designed by the yoga expert, take on private yoga classes. Choose between a 60 minute or a 90 minute private session where you can have a practice adapted to your pace and suiting your mood, or work on specific part of your body to open, stretch or strengthen – the session will be tailored to your needs. You can even choose the area of the resort which best suits your condition: take in the fresh breeze and unwind to the sound of the waves at our Pavilion overlooking the ocean, awake your senses with a sunrise session on Mount Villingili, the highest summit in Maldives, rooted in nature in the heart of our emerald-green forest, or at sunset on a luxury yacht. “The yoga practice itself is a connection to ourselves and the environment. We are drawn in a symbiotic relationship with trees. We are delighted to plant 10 trees per person that attends a yoga class at Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa and 50 trees per person for our one to one private sessions” says Leo explaining that since 2015 Yogasphere has been planting trees in return for loyal clients committing to a regular yoga practice with them, creating acres of conscious forests. Yogasphere plants a new tree every four minutes.
