“The Rising One variant 5”, an alternative Australian national flag design (with suggested adaptations of the design to the other major flags and ensigns of the nation) See this flag waving . See it in all wind conditions . See many more alternative Australian flag designs at australian.flagalternatives.com . The design of the hoist is based on that of the famous 'Rising Sun' slouch hat badge of the Australian Army. From a distance the waving flag will appear to depict a brilliant sunburst, whilst for Australians it will also suggest a golden wattle blossom. In a closer view the centre of the hoist will resolve into a green-fimbriated Commonwealth Star, which can be fully displayed when the flag is carefully draped behind Australian leaders. The design can be easily adapted to the many other flags and ensigns of the nation, as illustrated above. It will retain its attractive character as a small lapel pin, and it will also publish well whether in colour or in greyscale. A special 'banner' version of the flag, with both its hoist and its fly left-rotated by 90° as shown to the left, will be distinctive when it is displayed vertically, and it will have additional suitability when it is used as a pall.
