“But as for me, I will never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. The world has been crucified to me through the cross, and I to the world.” Galatians 6:14 (CSB)

1. The cross is crucial because of the PERSON on the cross.

Jesus Christ was chosen and anointed to be our Prophet, Priest and King.

2. The cross is crucial because of the PURPOSE of the cross.

The purpose of the cross was to show us the LOVE of God.

“In this act we see what real love is: it is not our love for God but his love for us when he sent his Son to satisfy God’s anger against our sins.” 1 John 4:10 (TLB)

The purpose of the cross was to satisfy the LAW of God.

“Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose.” Matthew 5:17 (NLT)

3. The cross is crucial because of the POWER of the cross.

“Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God.” 1 Peter 3:18 (NLT)
