KARI STROBEL, Ph.D.DIRECTOR, HR COMPETENCIES, SHRMIn her role as Director, HR Competencies for the Society for Human ResourceManagement (SHRM), Kari is responsible for overseeing key initiatives aroundprofessionalism and competencies to include the assessment and implementation ofSHRM’s ELEMENTS for HR Success Competency Model, and setting the researchagenda for developing additional competency based selection, career-pathing, andperformance management tools. Dr. Strobel received her Doctor of Philosophy degreein Industrial Organizational Psychology from Old Dominion University.

CLYDE BIRCHCONSULTANT FRANKLIN COVEYClyde has owned and operated his own consulting company and has worked for anumber of world-class organizations. He founded Principle Focused Learning where heconsulted with human resource executives to design and deliver employee andleadership development programs. Clyde holds a Masters of Public Administration fromBrigham Young University, Provo, Utah. He also earned a B.S. in history from WeberState University, Ogden, Utah.

ELISABETH “BABE” BLATTNER-THOMPSONATTORNEY/PARTNER BALLARD SPAHRFor the past 25 years, Elisabeth Blattner-Thompson has provided employers withprompt and practical counsel on labor and employment matters, helping them solveworkplace problems and avoid employee claims and litigation.
