ORIGINAL CHARTER # 1011 issued - November 1st, 1921
January 13, 2016
Our speaker this week, Darin Willder, was introduced
by Rotarian Paul Mayrand. Darin was born and raised in Chatham and attended JMSS. He is a certified arborist and told Rotarians today about modern tree care. He is a graduate of Sir Sanford Fleming's Forestry and Arborist program and spend three years working for Davey Tree Service in London. Last April, he returned to Chatham to start his own business called Precision Tree Care. He offers
several services such as pruning, thinning and shaping trees. Pruning is often needed to allow for better views or for removing damaged branches. This operation must be performed in a manner that does not stress the tree. A maximum of 25% of a tree can be pruned at any one time. A new method of supporting branches that Darin recommends uses supports that are wrapped around the branches instead of cables that actually require drilling into the trees. Darin's business also offers many other services such as brush chipping, tree planting and removal of dead or diseased trees. He talked about other problems with trees such as the Japanese beetle. We are pleased to have young entrepreneurs like Darin return to Chatham-Kent to start their business and we wish him continued success. Our thanks were expressed by Rotarian Les Herman.
