Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

NURSE’S NOTES

As you make final preparations for Christmas, focus on three things: Holy, Happy, Healthy

- Make it holy with prayerful preparation and joyful celebra-tion at Christmas Mass

- Make it happy, giving love and joy through sharing your time and your love with family and friends, with those you meet and greet, maybe with someone homebound or in a nursing home.

- Make it healthy as you make wise choices regarding Christmas meals and treats. Traditional foods such as turkey, salmon, sprouts, dried fruit and nuts in shells (take longer to eat that way!) are good for you, so choose them along with snacks that feature protein, vegetables and fruits. Chocolate brands with high cocoa content (60-70%) have much less impact on blood sugar than lesser brands, are more satisfy-ing, and help you eat less and enjoy it more. Don’t forget to exercise – walking is very good –water is a very healthy and satisfying drink. Promptly refrigerate your leftovers. And keep your home safe with careful attendance to Christmas lights, candles, fireplaces, trees, and wiring.

Remember to pray for all parishioners hospitalized, home-bound or in residential care. If you or a family member is hospi-talized or homebound and would like me to visit, pray with them, or assist with health questions, call me at 636-8159x369 or [email protected]

Prayer Partners December Intention: We pray that our Advent journey will led each of us closer to God and better able to pre-pare for Christ’s coming and that our everyday actions and choices lead to a deeper understanding and belief in the good-ness of God and the dignity of each person. And we pray for the blessing of shalom within our families, within our parish, within our country and between warring nations, between rich and poor, and between people of different color, culture, and herit-age. May there be Peace on Earth.

This wonderful opportunity will be provided right here in Jefferson City by the Faith Based Health Ministry Network through Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri. St. Peter Parish & Education Foundation

Give the gift that keeps on giving…………………………

Your monetary contribution to the St. Peter Parish & Educational Foundation Fund is really the gift that keeps giving!

The Foundation is a special, not-for-profit corporation established in 1996 for the Parish to accept contributions of cash or other as-sets from parishioners who wish to make gifts that provide a long-term legacy for St. Peters.

The original gifts, the principal, is preserved and income from the funds is used to meet special and one-time needs of the parish and school.

Many families have included the Foundation Fund as the suggested donation in memory of a deceased family member. Please con-sider the Foundation Fund in your annual contributions and when you are making your estate plans.

In addition to providing a legacy of stewardship, gifts to the Foundation also may provide substantial tax benefits for the contributor.

St. Mary’s Hospital Cross Project

St. Peter received the cross from St. Mary’s in January 2016.

The cross is made of aluminum, is ten feet tall with a five-foot cross-arm. The cross was lit with neon lights located on the perimeter of the cross, both front and back. After much consid-eration, we chose the corner of High and Broadway as the location (located between the existing marquee and the lime-stone wall). The corner was landscaped around the marque and along High Street. All plantings were replaced.

The stonework was completed spring of 2017. The concrete foundation was completed in September 2017 and the cross was erected on Saturday, September 23. The granite ten com-mandments were installed by Carved In Stone in October. The landscaping and electrical work were completed in November. The cross was lit on November 27.

The following contributed their time, talent and treasure to com-pleting this project:

Cole County Industries, Kramer family, Nu Way, St. Peter 8th Grade Class of 2016, Grey Stone Concrete & Greg Rackers, Knights of Columbus Council No. 1054, Schrimpf Landscaping, Ed Rackers, Midwest Block & Brick, Tony Buechter, Art McGeorge

Bishop Gaydos’ Advent/Christmas Radio Spots This season, the Most Rev. John Gaydos, Bishop Emeritus of our diocese, again wishes to encourage Catholics who have “been away for a while” to return home to their Catholic faith this Advent and Christmas season. Two different radio spots, in 30 and 60 second versions, have been recorded for airing on radio stations KATI (94.3 FM) and KWOS (950 AM and 104.5 FM) in mid-Missouri.

These spots are also running on KHJR Catholic Radio (88.1 FM), as well as on the “Mustard Seed” program that is present-ed on KWIX-AM (1120) in Moberly and KRRL-AM (1420) in California.

Please share these spots with family and friends whom you think might be open to this message. Thank you for helping us evangelize and spread the Good News of Jesus Christ this Ad-vent season.
