Everyday we hear about security breaches...department stores, apps, healthcare, and more. And sadly we seem to be experiencing more and
more active shooter situations in our daily lives. As workers' compensation professionals we not only have data that must be protected ...but the
safety of our staff and their families require previously unheard of precautions.
The National Center for Judicial Security is the research, educational, and outreach branch for the Judicial Security Division. The office facilitates all
policy and training related to the agency's protective and security missions. It also coordinates with the Administrative Office of the U.S.
Courts and others to produce training videos, documentation, and intelligence products, and instructs judicial officials throughout the world
on how best to protect themselves and their families. In addition, the National Center for Judicial Security advises on state-of-the-art judicial
security tactics, techniques and procedures.
Assisting Chief Molten will be Laura Joyner, Assistant Chief at the National Center for Judicial Security, United States Marshals Service.

Preview of the 2018 All Committee Conference at The Broadmoor November 2018 / The Broadmoor / Colorado Springs, CO
General Session 4: 10:30am – 11:30am Middleburg II-III
“Exploring The World of Opioid Alternatives”
Presented By: Eric Patten, RN, BSN,
Sr. Director of Clinical & Education Services at One Call According to the United Nations International Narcotics Control Board, Americans consume more opioids than any
other country. Chronic pain is an epidemic in the United States and highly prevalent in the workers’ compensation industry. Eric discusses opioid
addiction & the ease of writing a prescription versus exploring alternative treatments to help injured workers manage their pain while reducing side
effects and decreasing overall workers’ compensation claims costs.
General Session 5: 11:30am – 12:30pm Middleburg II-III “CMS Demands, MSA Requirements, & US Treasury” Moderated By: Douglas J. Holmes, President of UWC Panelists: Michael Merlino, SVP of Medicare Compliance, Sedgwick Rafael Gonzalez, President of Flagship Services Group Lavonya Chapman, Medicare Secondary Payer Compliance
Counsel, Optum
Doug Holmes brings back members from the 2017 All Committee Panel for a continuation of CMS/MSA issues and adds the participation of the US
Treasury as collectors of those deadbeats who simply ask for their appeal to be heard prior to paying penalties, interest, contested claims and federal
administrative costs. So if you filed an appeal to the CRC’s initial determination…but found that your appeal was denied only because the CRC did not have a valid letter of authority on file for that specific case…
because the Federal Agencies / Offices do not share information with each other…then I have only one word for you… ARGH!! Don’t miss this panel
session…it just might save your sanity plus a few dollars.
Convention Lunch (All Attendees /Guests Invited) 12:30pm – 1:30pm

Featured Programs Throughout the convention there will be special
programs designed to provide one-of-a-kind opportunities focused on those issues that drive workers’ comp systems. Workers’ compensation challenges know no borders. We learn from the experiences of our peers & share those strategies that have proven successful.

more…so as you are making plans for your summer...
