“Radio Shema” (Turkey) Update

Pictured at the right is Soner Tufan, General Man-ager of Radio Shema, 98.0 FM in Ankara, Turkey. He has held the position of GM at Radio Shema for 11 years. He is a Muslim convert to Christianity and is dedicated to sharing the Gospel in Turkey and beyond via Radio Shema’s website.

The programs listed below in blue type are the programs where Bro. Soner will be speaking. (Even if you must drive a distance, we believe it will be worth your while to hear his testimony and vision.)

He says, “I want to improve this ministry and reach all of Turkey. Turkey is a big country and I want to see thousands of people believe in God and see how God can change their life! God is

great and He can use our ministry for His Kingdom.”

Today I closed out the 2014 finan-cial records. My heart was filled with praise and thanksgiving to God. I worshiped Him as I saw Him again provide this year-end abundantly above all I could ask or think. I echo Paul’s sentiments in II Cor. 9: 11, 12.

Because of each one of you who gave so willingly, sacrificially, and generously we were able to end the year with our bills paid. We even have some operating funds to start 2015 because of the other income we received from investments, sales, and wills and estates.

In our year end letter we reported that we still needed around $100,000 to meet our Projected Income Bud-get. This seemed like a huge amount. However, since then we have ac-tually received $185,371 in dona-tions. Our Board approved Operat-ing Expense Budget, with additional Bible and literature expenses, was $712,000. The total Operating In-come received was $685,893.

So we all are abounding in thanks-givings to God as we received your many generous gifts this year-end. May God truly be glorified and His kingdom be enlarged as we faithful-ly steward the many blessings from His bountiful hand!

I pray God’s wisdom, direction and blessing upon each one of you as Hope Partners this New Year. Keep pressing on, “toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 3:14.

Thank You for Giving!

WHERE YOUR TREASURE IS…

Recently, while reading Proverbs chapter two, I was impressed with the concept of treasure. Jesus said “Where your treasure is, there your heart (affections) will be also” Matthew 6:21. As I read and reflected on the writings of Solomon I noted several things we should treasure as we begin 2015. What we treasure determines who and what we become.

First, we should treasure God’s Word. We treasure the Word by understanding its value. We treasure the Word by receiving or accepting it. The RSV uses the word treasure as a synonym for hiding God’s commands in our heart. We memorize all kinds of details that are important to our daily lives; God’s Word should be important enough to be included in our memory. It also means we pay attention to its commands and precepts by making practical application to our lives.

Next, we should treasure God’s Wisdom. Note the verbs used to describe the intensity of our quest for this treasure. We are to cry out for insight and to lift up our voice for understanding. We are to seek wisdom just as we would seek for something of great material worth. In the end, all earthly wealth will be destroyed, but wisdom will accompany us into the next world. Our quest will also lead us to a deeper understanding of the fear of the Lord. This is the beginning of all wisdom.

Then, we should treasure God’s Way. Verses 9 and 20 inform us of the blessings that come to those who embrace God’s way of living. Treasuring God’s way leads to righteousness, discernment, justice, and every good way! Isaiah prophesied of a future time when he told the people, “You will hear a voice behind you, this is the way, walk in it.” Jesus referred to himself as “The Way”.

Finally, we should treasure God’s Witness. That witness is His Spirit living in us. According to verses 10 to 22, treasuring God’s witness will keep us from wrong choices that result in death and destruction, rather than life and blessing.

So what will you treasure in 2015: the things that last only for time, or the things that last for eternity?

Pastor Anand Sinha re-ports on the impact of “So-journers in Faith,” Dr. Yo-der’s sermons from I and II Peter translated into Nepali.

“We have received many letters and calls from those who have been blessed af-ter reading this book. So, some of the pastors and leaders who had received this book at a two-day seminar have asked us to

send more books for their co-pastors and brothers in the Terai (southern Nepal) regions who also want to have this book.”

Rejean Joly, the translator/speaker of our HOH French programs, is a former pastor. While pastoring, he was also the “voice” for the radio programs for Thru the Bible, In Touch, and Living Truth (Peoples Church Toronto).

He no longer fills a pastoral role, but is a full-time evangelist with Aujourd’hui l’Espoir. Currently, he voices Living Truth radio programs, and our Heralds of Hope 15-minute program, “Moments of Hope”.

Please pray for Rejean as he translates the HOH Bible teaching and produces the programs.

Pastor Vijay reports on the Capol Church Building.

“We have received the funds you sent designated for Capol Church Building. With the new government rules and reg-ulations, we are working on the permis-sion and other details for the construc-tion. Please pray the Lord would under-take that persecution would not hinder. God willing, we may be able to complete the construction of the building by December 2015. We will keep you posted as it progresses.

We would love for brothers J. Mark, Bob, and Leon-ard to come and dedicate the church building for the Lord’s glory and kingdom. We would like also to hold a Pastors’ Training Conference at that time and invite Brother J. Mark to teach the Word of God. We are very thankful to Heralds of Hope for taking up this proj-ect and praise God with you for the way the Lord has raised up His people to give for the project.”
