“On the Road” Visual ElementsPhotos and drawings by Joyce Taylor
This side view shows the road getting narrower to look as if it is going away into the distance. You can put a road in the children’s area to also tie into the theme.
The Advent wreath can be placed along the road or close to stage front for lighting each week.

A sign that points down the road is an important visual. This sign will be changed each Sunday with the main word/theme of the week. If the sign is wooden, you can put a nail in the post and drill a hole in each sign to change them easily. You can also make the post longer and put one word up each week, in addition to the pre-vious words, so by the end of the series, you have all six words.
Week 1: ReadinessWeek 2: RepentanceWeek 3: RestorationWeek 4: RevelationWeek 5: RejoicingWeek 6: Radiance
If the area in the front of your meeting space is small, you can put any of these items in a lobby, by the mailboxes, or in the fellowship area.
Beside the podium, a stump can hold a visual on top or beside it to go with the Scripture or sermon. The chosen Scripture will deter-mine the visual. Consider these ideas:
1st Sunday—clay, pottery, potter’s wheel, alarm clock, branches2nd Sunday—shepherd figurine, sheep, clock, pitcher and bowl
used for baptism, electric fire3rd Sunday—flowers or blooming plant, basket of fruit and veg-
etables, sandals4th Sunday—pop-up tent, rocks5th Sunday—manger, music notes, song sheets propped up6th Sunday—large mirror, spotlight, white Christmas lights

These drawings can be used in the bulletin, projection graphics, or as ideas for a banner.
Each Sunday, add the word for the week to the sign.
