2.4 Children become socially responsible and show respect for the environment.
- Explore how and why natural factors (for example, changes in the weather) affect their lives.
“It’s a raindrop! It’s coming from the storm. You push a button
for the rain to go back up and down.” - Sebastian
“This is my rain painting. I painted rain going down and rain
going up. The rain comes down from the storm.” - Henry
“This is a rainbow. This is the sky. This is the dark black clouds
that make the storm of rain. There are drops coming down.” - Gia
“It’s a storm, its about a storm. This is waves, I put some things
in there to make it grow into grass.” - Tania
“YOU CAN SHARE.” - JAMES
To encourage the children to think about how they can share in their play with each other, we introduced the concept through the
language of puppetry, role playing a sharing conflict between two animals, Mr Dolphin and Mr Frog. The children discussed and
problem solved how the animals could share with each other next time, by asking for a turn and then enjoyed each having a turn to
re-enact this.
VEYLDF Learning Outcomes: 1.4 Children learn to interact in relation to others with care, empathy and respect. - Engage in and contribute to shared plat experiences. 2.3 Children become aware of fairness. - Begin to think critically about fair and unfair behavior. - Are empowered to make choices and problem solve to meet their needs in particular contexts.
