Pastors Official Consent | For Leaders and Adults ONLY |

Why a pastor’s consent?

Our children are under attack. Therefore we must take extraordinary steps to protect them from abuse. Our purpose is not to eliminate parent involvement in outings, but rather to provide the safest environment possible by requiring the pastor approval of each adult accompanying the boys to camp.

Because the large number of applicants, it is impossible to check the references on every leader applicant. As a result, great reliance is placed on the representation of each applicant’s pastor to insure the applicant’s suitability for accompanying minors.

PLEASE CLEARLY PRINT THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:

I have been personally acquainted with for approximately Adult Name months

Check One:

He is competent and qualified to work with minors of any age. I know of no facts or allegations that raise any questions concerning his or her suitability for working with the minors in any activity.

He is not currently working within our children’s program but is a parent or legal guardian

of a child in attendance.

FRONTIERSMEN CAMPING FELLOWSHIP BEAD CHALLENGE

Frontiersmen Camping Fellowship (FCF) is a special program of Royal Rangers that provides men and boys with additional opportunities to develop specialized outdoor skills based on the lore and traditions of the early American frontiersmen. FCF members participate in special events like Rendezvous where frontier skills are demonstrated and practiced. Competitions are included that promote the development of these skills and reflect the excitement, color, and flair of frontier America.

PURPOSE OF FCF

The threefold purpose of FCF is to:

• Inspire brotherhood among our members • Promote personal development through advancement and training • Provide valuable service to Royal Rangers and beyond

FCF PLEDGE

"I share with you the warmth and glow of this campfire. These crimson flames are a symbol of our fellowship and adventures in camping. I promise to share with you the warmth of Christian friendship and with others the light of my Christian testimony. I promise to keep alive the spirit of FCF in my personal life and to observe at all times the principles of Royal Rangers."

Please visit the FCF village after completing the Bead Challenge (8 beads). Special gift will be available. Limited quantity is available.

Memorize the 3 verses below. John 3:16 For God do loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Revelation 3:20 Behold I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door I will come in him and eat with him.

BRIEF HISTORY OF PADRE BEADS

Padre beads were originally made in China and taken to America, Africa, and India by traders during the 18th and the 19th century. Padre beads were made in a variety of colors, but blue and white were the most sought after by the Northwest Indians. The name by which these beads have become known, 'padre' originates from the Franciscan priests (padres) who gave the beads to Native Americans for their good work and to convert them to Christianity.

In 1778, English explorer, Captain James Cook made the earliest mention of these beads with several references to the effect that it was difficult to obtain supplies and furs from the Pacific coast Indians without this particular blue bead. About Padre beads and the Indians tribes along the Columbia River, Captain Lewis said, "only the blue and white beads were acceptable, the most desired, are the common cheap, blue beads called 'Chief Beads'.

The original padre beads, made from wound glass, were opaque with a sky-blue or a turquoise shade, but were also made in cobalt, red, white, black, clear, and yellow. However, African bead sellers and collectors pasted the name 'padre beads' to all opaque turquoise-blue glass beads, even those that were Venetian or Czech. This means padre trade beads come in all shapes, sizes, and styles since they are not made in one place. Padre beads are mentioned by Lewis and Clark and they stated that the beads helped them to trade with the natives.
